These Copycat Black and White Cookies are a better-for-you take on the classic Starbucks treat. Made with almond flour, oat flour, and sugar-free sweeteners. No added sugar, no butter, and full of flavor.
I still remember the first time I tried a black and white cookie; it was with my mom at Starbucks. I must’ve been around six or seven, and she ordered one for us to split while we sat down with our drinks. I didn’t know what to expect, but one bite of that soft, cakey cookie with the sweet vanilla and rich chocolate glaze, and I was hooked. From that day on, it became our little ritual. Every week, we’d go together and share one as a special treat. It wasn’t just about the cookie; it was about that quiet time we had together, catching up and creating a small moment that felt like ours.
Now, I love recreating that memory in my own kitchen, especially with this healthier take on the classic. These healthy black and white cookies taste just like the original, but they’re made with clean ingredients like almond flour, oat flour, and sugar-free sweetener. There’s no added sugar, no refined flour, and no butter. They’re still soft, sweet, and totally satisfying.
What Makes These Cookies Healthier
No added sugar (yep, even in the frosting!)
Made with almond and oat flour for a boost of fiber and healthy fats
Preheat your oven to 350°F and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
In a medium bowl, whisk together almond flour, oat flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
In a large bowl, cream the softened coconut oil, sugar-free sweetener, and lemon zest until light and fluffy.
Beat in the eggs and vanilla until smooth.
Alternately add the dry ingredients and Greek yogurt, mixing just until everything is combined.
Scoop about 2 tablespoons of dough per cookie onto the prepared baking sheets, leaving a couple inches between each. Flatten each mound into a round cookie about 3 inches wide and ½ inch thick.
Bake for 10–12 minutes, rotating the tray halfway through, until the cookies are lightly golden and set.
Let cookies cool on the pan for a few minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before glazing.
To make the glaze:
In a bowl, mix the powdered sugar-free sweetener, 2–3 tablespoons almond milk, sugar-free syrup, and vanilla until smooth and spreadable.
Spread the vanilla glaze over one half of each cooled cookie and let it set.
Stir the cocoa powder into the remaining glaze, adding 1–2 more tablespoons of almond milk as needed.
Frost the other half of each cookie with the chocolate glaze. Let them fully set before serving or storing.
Chill the dough for a few minutes if it’s too sticky to handle
Use a butter knife or small spatula to make that clean black-and-white line
Let the glaze fully set before stacking or storing
These black and white cookies are just as fun and nostalgic as the ones you’d grab at a bakery, but made with better-for-you ingredients. They’re great for when you want something sweet with more wholesome ingredients and are perfect for sharing (or keeping all to yourself).
Whether you’re cutting back on sugar, eating gluten-free, or just into baking healthier treats, you’re going to love these. Give them a try and let me know what you think!

This sounds good! I think I would mix my cocoa powder with some maple syrup tho for extra sweetness 🙂
Oooh I used love these cookies! The perfect treat for someone like me who can’t choose between vanilla and chocolate 🙂 Fabulous makeover!
I LOVE your story! My mom and I are very close and we also used to always split a Black and White cookie from a coffee shop in Denver called Peaberry; except she only liked the white half and I only liked the chocolate. I will have to give this vegan version a shot!
This is SO sweet; I love how you describe in detail, those Starbucks dates with your mommy. <3 What a treasure; it was the moments that made the cookie so delicious.
There’s nothing better than a healthier copycat! YUM.
Hi Kaila, Wow this sounds delicious. I have never eaten Starbucks Black & white Cookie but I am sure this tastes much better and is so much healthier with your ingredients than theirs. Thanks for sharing on Real Food Fridays. Pinned & tweeted. .

A cookie just for me?! Now this sounds like a deeelicious idea!
I actually don’t like Starbucks’ coffee at all! I think they must breed us to be coffee snobs in Australia (or it’s just because we have really ridiculously good coffee) but I can’t stand the taste of Starbucks coffee!
It sounds like you had great times with your momma at Starbucks! I will have to make this for my husband! He loved those cookies!
Love that you use chickpeas in these cookies. They look great!
I’ve never see these cookies – they look good! Thanks for sharing on the What’s for Dinner Link up.
Aww that story about your mama makes my heart melt. My mom and I don’t get sweets too often, but when we do it’s Sees Candy. And we always take a bite of each and put it back hahaha!
Moms are the best! It’s fun to have food memories! Have a great day! Michelle
