OnePlus used to have a huge presence in the US years ago, complete with carrier deals. It never stopped being a Chinese brand first, but it actually cared about the US. These days, however, North America is just an afterthought. The company’s latest cheaper devices look pretty nice, but sadly, you probably won’t ever get to use them.
First, onto the news. OnePlus has announced a whole new fleet of devices, from two new smartphones in its popular Nord series, a new tablet, a new size for its latest smartwatch, to a new pair of wireless earbuds. The headliner of the announcement is the OnePlus Nord 5, and it actually seems to be a return to OnePlus’ old days of “flagship killing” in more ways than one. Under the hood, the phone comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8S Gen 3, which is a bit of a step down compared to last year’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, but still probably way better than anything you’d find on other flagship phones these days. The Nord 5 will also include an upgraded cooling system to handle this SoC, as well as LPDDR5X RAM, which should make for a boon compared to other Nord phones.
Joining the Nord 5 is the more budget-conscious OnePlus Nord CE5, with lower specs. And there’s also the OnePlus Pad Lite, which we don’t have an official spec sheet for, but a leaked spec sheet suggests it might have an 11-inch LCD display, a MediaTek Helio G100 chipset, and will be available in an optional cellular version.
Finally, OnePlus is updating its audio lineup with the OnePlus Buds 4. These new earbuds will boast dual drivers for improved sound quality and will support Hi-Res audio. And there’s a new size for the OnePlus Watch 3, though we wrote a whole other article about that.

The bad part about this is that almost none of this seems to be actually US-bound. I looked at OnePlus’ official US page, and the only new things being highlighted are the new OnePlus Watch 3 size and the new OnePlus Buds 4. Other than this, no new phones or tablets are there to be seen other than the OnePlus Pad 3, which is currently available for pre-order but isn’t really a “new” announcement.
This isn’t really surefire yet. OnePlus will hold a proper unveiling event for these on July 18th, where we’ll see more info about all of this. So the company could still decide to release these, or at least some of them, in the states. Still, we wouldn’t hold our breath. The OnePlus 13T, which is probably one of its more interesting launches to date, didn’t see a US release after all.
We could use some of these stateside, to be honest, seeing how dire the competition for mid-range phones is. We wouldn’t be able to say for sure whether this is a sign of OnePlus withdrawing from the US market if it’s still releasing some hardware here and there, but we’re certainly missing out on the cooler stuff.
