Hot Honey Pepperoni Pizza Rolls. Soft, cheesy, and a little spicy, these pizza rolls are stuffed with tomato sauce, three cheeses, extra pepperoni, and baked until golden with perfectly crisp tops. The real secret? A drizzle of homemade hot honey and a sprinkle of flaky sea salt. Trust me, these are even more delicious than you’re imagining. I always bake a double batch because they disappear fast!

Since I just shared that big list of game day recipes, it only feels right to follow it up with something that works for both dinner and game night. Enter simple, delicious pepperoni pizza rolls!

These are such a family favorite. I’ve been making versions of them since I was a kid back in Ohio, experimenting in the kitchen with an old Williams-Sonoma kids’ cookbook. That book had a recipe for pizza rolls (and an apple pie!) that really sparked my excitement for cooking. The original rolls were simple, made with store-bought dough and no hot honey. But adding hot honey changes everything. It makes them so much yummier, with just the right balance of spicy and sweet.

I usually make my own pizza dough and hot honey, but you can, of course, use store-bought. Do what you have time for! And if you’re serving these for dinner, I love pairing them with my Fall Harvest Salad — it makes such a fun, cozy meal.

Let me tell you all the details

Ingredients

  • pizza dough
  • marinara sauce
  • Italian seasoning
  • mozzarella cheese
  • provolone cheese
  • cheddar cheese
  • pepperoni slices
  • fresh basil
  • sea salt

For the Hot Honey

  • honey
  • hot sauce
  • cayenne pepper
  • chipotle powder
  • garlic and onion powder

Steps

Step 1: Roll out the dough

Divide the dough in half, then roll each piece into a large rectangle.

Step 2: Add the toppings

Place each rectangle on its own sheet of parchment paper. Spread with tomato sauce, then sprinkle over Italian seasoning, cheeses, and plenty of pepperoni. Drizzle with hot honey and add a few fresh basil leaves. Parmesan works great here too!

Step 3: Roll and slice

Roll each rectangle up into a log. Chill the logs for 20–30 minutes — this makes slicing so much easier. Slice each log into 8 rolls and arrange them in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.

Step 4: Bake

Bake for about 20 minutes, until the cheese is melty and the tops are golden. The rolls don’t need to look perfect — they’ll still taste amazing!

Make the hot honey

In a small saucepan, gently warm honey with hot sauce, cayenne, and chipotle chili powder. Add a pinch of sea salt. The chili powder gives the sauce a subtle smokiness that balances the sweet heat perfectly.

  • 1. Divide the dough in half. On a lightly floured surface, roll out each half into a large rectangle, about 10×12 inches, placing each dough on separate sheets of parchment paper. 2. Working with both doughs, spread each with 1/3 cup sauce, using more or less as needed. Sprinkle both with Italian/pizza seasoning. Add cheese to each, then top with pepperoni slices and basil. Drizzle with hot honey. Carefully roll the dough rectangles into tight logs. Place the logs onto a baking sheet, seam side down. Freeze for at least 20 minutes. Freezing makes slicing the rolls a lot easier. 3. Preheat the oven to 425°F. Line a 9×13 inch baking dish or 2 square baking dishes with parchment paper.4. Remove the logs from the freezer and cut each into 8 slices, placing them in the prepared baking dish. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until the sides are lightly browned. Serve with additional honey and fresh basil, if desired. 5. To make the hot honey. In a sauce pot, warm together all ingredients over low heat until combined.
