Suge Knight isn’t holding back when it comes to his thoughts about Sean “Diddy” Combs’ recent trial sentencing. And you already know what he has to say is nothing short of entertaining.
As we previously told you, on Oct. 3, Diddy was officially sentenced to 50 months in prison in relation to his convictions on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution. He was also ordered to pay a $500,000 fine and to be subjected to five years of supervised release. In the immediate aftermath of his sentencing, the disgraced music mogul could be seen sinking to the floor in agony and disbelief while his kids and mother exited the courthouse in silence.
In another part of the country however, namely the R.J. Donovan Correctional Facility in San Diego, Knight had plenty to say and he consequently sat down with The Art of Dialogue to let off his thoughts. Essentially, the former Death Row Records founder believed that Diddy got off pretty easy in comparison to other folks.
“As far as Puffy is concerned, it’s a great day for him,” Knight said. “It’s an even better day for his family, you know?…Overall, though, it’s not surprising. We do all know one thing: like I said before, Puffy has strong ties with the government. With the feds and anybody else woulda been cooked.”
He also criticized the video that was shown in the courtroom in order to get the judge to consider some leniency for his sentencing.
“Only thing I was waiting on was them bringing out the DJ and start playing music and letting him do what he does best–dance and shake that a** and end up with no time,” Knight joked.
He ended his sentiments by saying that it was a “good day for hip-hop” and that the sentencing was a great opportunity for things to be rebuilt.
“It’s a great day for the Combs family. Might be a sad day for the victims, but all in all, we have to take this time and prove ourselves […] Take this time and rebuild Hip-Hop,” Knight added.
Additionally, he’s not the only speaking out on Diddy in the wake of his sentencing.
Lawyers for Casandara “Cassie” Ventura, Diddy’s ex-girlfriend whose sexual assault lawsuit arguably helped jumpstart Diddy’s legal downward spiral spoke out in a statement sent to The Root, saying: “While nothing can undo the trauma caused by Combs, the sentence imposed today recognizes the impact of the serious offenses he committed. We are confident that with the support of her family and friends, Ms. Ventura will continue healing knowing that her bravery and fortitude have been an inspiration to so many.”
Former Danity Kane singer Aubrey O’Day, who’s lobbed her own set of accusations at Diddy, writing in part to a post to X/Twitter:
“The real warning is this: the moment someone in a position of power oversteps your boundaries or demand. No dream, however bright, can outweigh the pain and exploitation that may follow if you remain,” she said.
She concluded: “Too often, those who misuse their power, even when exposed, face far fewer consequences than the harm inflicted upon their victims. Protect yourself at the first sign of coercion or impropriety. If something feels wrong, trust that instinct and remove yourself from the situation. Your well-being is worth more than any opportunity.”
