Arizona Woman Books ‘5-Bedroom’ Airbnb. It’s Just a Camper

[ad_1]

A woman thought she booked a spacious Airbnb in Arizona with a pool and five bedrooms. But when she arrived, she found herself standing in front of a camper.

In a viral TikTok video with over 770,600 views, influencer Kayla (@kaylamalecc) shared the moment she stepped out of her car and saw the listing in person for the first time.

“So I just got to my new Airbnb in Arizona before we go back home,” she said. “It was listed five bedrooms. Uh, there was a pool. It was really [expletive] expensive.”

Then the camera zooms out—and reveals a camper behind her.

“I think I got scammed,” she wrote in the caption. “But I love it HAHAHA.”

She Takes Viewers on a ‘House Tour’ of the Camper

In a follow-up post, Kayla decided to make the most of it and filmed a playful tour of the inside, using the viral “Today I’m doing a house tour” sound from creator @richcaroline.

She walked viewers through the camper, pointing out a small kitchen, a few bedrooms (at least three), and a bathroom. While she didn’t mention the pool again, the camper seemed decently outfitted, if clearly not what most people would imagine when they hear “five-bedroom Airbnb.”

Airbnb Requires Listings to Be Accurate, Especially About the Type of Property

While Kayla took the situation with humor, Airbnb’s rules on this sort of listing are clear.

According to the platform’s “Listing Accuracy” policy, hosts must clearly state the type, size, and privacy of the space. If the listing led a guest to believe they were getting a standalone home or apartment, but instead turned out to be a camper, it could be a violation of those rules.

Airbnb recommends reaching out to the host first to clarify or try to solve the issue. If that doesn’t work, guests can then contact Airbnb’s customer service team, who may offer a refund in cases where the listing was misleading.

Viewers urged Kayla to take it up with Airbnb immediately.

“Contact AirBNB!” one person said. “They have super strict policies when it comes to that. You should get a full refund!”

Others responded with regional sarcasm: “Lol welcome to AZ. Half the state is a scam.”

Some questioned her planning. “Y’all don’t check reviews before buying an Airbnb?” one commenter asked.

The Mary Sue has reached out to Airbnb via email and Kayla via Instagram messages for comment.
