It has now been several weeks since the chaotic and unsatisfying finale of Doctor Who Season 2, and fans are still no closer to learning the fate of their beloved timey-wimey show. Following what seems to be the culmination of the lackluster Disney era of the series, despite no confirmation of Disney’s departure being announced, Russell T. Davies‘ second era at the helm quite possibly couldn’t have gone much worse.

Dropping viewing figures, frustrations behind the scenes, and a rushed ending to accommodate Ncuti Gatwa‘s early exit have all come together to create palpable uncertainty from within the Whoniverse, as millions of fans desperately seek any sign of what’s to come. Well, in the latest suggestion of the show’s future, one of its more recent stars is offering a defiant stand against cancellation rumors. In an exclusive interview with Radio Times, Alexander Devrient, who plays UNIT member Colonel Ibrahim on the show, remained tight-lipped on any concrete answers, but did say:

“As it stands, I haven’t left! We are here, UNIT is here, Kate [Stewart, played by Jemma Redgrave] is doing her best! It’s stressful and there’s never a boring day in UNIT. We’re still here, and there’s still lots of work to do, as you’ll see in the spin-off as well.”
