This air fryer grilled cheese is crisp and golden on the outside and melty in the middle. It’s the easiest way to make a perfect grilled cheese sandwich!

Air fryer grilled cheese

Did you know that you can make a perfect grilled cheese in the air fryer? This air fryer grilled cheese sandwich is crisp and golden on the outside and gooey in the middle (I mean, look at that cheese pull!).

I started making this air fryer grilled cheese recipe last spring for my son Ollie, and it’s since become my favorite way to make a grilled cheese. Sure, it’s pretty simple to cook one on the stovetop, but using the air fryer is even easier. Here’s why:

  • I use sliced, not grated, cheese. Sandwich assembly is quick and easy!
  • Cleanup is a breeze. There’s no skillet to wash after cooking.
  • You can set it and forget it. When I make a grilled cheese on the stove, I’m always adjusting the heat to find the right balance of browning the bread and melting the cheese. In the air fryer, you can leave the temperature the same for the entire cook time. Just remember to flip halfway through.

If you have an air fryer, you should absolutely try this recipe. You may never make a grilled cheese in a skillet again!

Recipe ingredients - sliced bread, sliced cheese, and mayo on cutting board

How to Make Grilled Cheese in an Air Fryer

This air fryer grilled cheese recipe is super simple to make:

Start by assembling the sandwich. Spread two slices of bread with a thin layer of butter or mayo (I think mayo browns better, so I recommend using it!). Flip one slice over and top with 2 to 3 slices of sharp cheddar cheese. Top with the second slice of bread, placing it mayo side out.

Then, air fry it. If your air fryer requires preheating, preheat it to 375°F. Place the sandwich in the air fryer basket and air fry until the cheese is starting to melt and the bread is starting to brown, 3 to 5 minutes. Carefully flip and cook for another 2 to 5 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is fully melted.

Slice and serve!

Find the complete recipe with measurements below.

FAQ: What air fryer do you use?

I’ve tried many different air fryers over the years, and the Our Place Wonder Oven is my favorite. I like the versatility of the toaster oven style, and it requires zero preheating. It’s also a great size—small enough to fit on my countertop, but large enough to be usable. It’s super cute too!

Air Fryer Grilled Cheese Tips

  • Use sliced cheese. When I make a grilled cheese on the stove, I grate the cheese to help it melt evenly. But in the air fryer, grated cheese can make a bit of a mess, and I find that sliced cheese melts just fine. Feel free to buy pre-sliced cheese or slice it yourself. I call for sharp cheddar in this recipe, but any good melting cheese will work. Monterey Jack, Swiss, provolone, and American are all fair game!
  • Don’t skip the mayo or butter. It’s essential for helping the bread get brown and crisp as it cooks.
  • You might need to work in batches if you scale up the recipe. As written, this recipe makes one air fryer grilled cheese. Of course, you can scale it up, but only cook as many sandwiches as will fit in a single layer at one time. If the air fryer basket is too crowded, they won’t cook evenly.

Chili Crunch Brussels Sprouts Recipe http://livelaughlovedo.com/food-and-drink/chili-crunch-brussels-sprouts-recipe/ http://livelaughlovedo.com/food-and-drink/chili-crunch-brussels-sprouts-recipe/#respond Wed, 24 Sep 2025 16:48:49 +0000 http://livelaughlovedo.com/2025/09/24/chili-crunch-brussels-sprouts-recipe/ [ad_1]

These crispy Brussels sprouts are tossed with chili crunch and honey for a bold, spicy, and seriously addictive side dish that all spice enthusiasts will love.

A bowl of roasted Brussels sprouts garnished with sesame seeds, served with a spoon and chili oil.
  • 3 fool-proof cooking methods: And I’m sharing all of ’em!
  • Easy peasy prep: The prep couldn’t be easier for this recipe aka pair this easy side with any meal to jazz up the flavor without any of the fuss.
  • A moment for chili crunch: I’m obsessed with the flavor of chili crunch! You, too? Don’t sleep on my honey chili crunch salmon bites or my spicy chili crunch tofu skewers 👀👀.

Key Ingredients

  • Chili crunch: This chili oil based condiment is filled with crispy chili flakes and spices. I prefer the Momofuku brand, but you can use any chili crunch or chili sauce of your choice.
  • Honey: Honey adds a delightful sweet flavor and also balances out the spicy chili crunch.
  • Brussels sprouts: Obviously! To make things easier, I like to just buy a bag of Brussels sprouts that are already halved.
  • Sesame oil: The flavor of sesame oil is a great complement to the Asian-inspired flavors of chili crunch. Any other neutral oil will also work.
  • White sesame seeds: While these are optional, the nutty flavor pairs nicely, plus it looks pretty when you’re serving the Brussels sprouts 😋😋😋.

3 Different Cooking Methods

I’ve tested these chili crunch Brussels sprouts in the oven, in the air fryer and on the stovetop — all work great! The air fryer is definitely the quickest method for cooking these Brussels sprouts, but the stovetop and the oven both yield the same crispy Brussels sprouts, so you do you!

Baking instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400ºF.
  2. Add the Brussels sprouts to a greased baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes, tossing the Brussels sprouts halfway.

Air fryer instructions

  1. Cook the Brussels sprouts at 400ºF for 4 minutes.
  2. Flip the Brussels sprouts in the air fryer basket.
  3. Cook for an additional 3 minutes.

Stovetop instructions

  1. Heat a skillet over medium/high heat.
  2. Add the Brussels sprouts to the skillet and cook for 10-15 minutes.

Serving Recommendations

I love serving these brussels sprouts with my oven baked chicken thighs and a batch of instant pot white rice. Why? Because I can air fry the brussels sprouts at the same time as making the rice in the instant pot and baking the chicken — easy and efficient dinner prep has become crucial to weeknight success as a busy mom of 2 boys who are always on the move ❤.

Storage Directions

Let your Brussels sprouts cool completely and then store them in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days. I like to warm up leftovers in the air fryer to bring back a little of that original CRUNCH.

FAQs

Why are my roasted Brussels sprouts not crispy?

The most common mistake when cooking Brussels sprouts (whether you’re air frying, baking or cooking on the stovetop) is overcrowding the pan. Overcrowding will create steam, and this will steam your Brussels sprouts instead of roasting them to crispy perfection. When in doubt, cook in batches to avoid overcrowding!

What are some other creative ways to season Brussels sprouts?

I’ve been creating Brussels sprouts recipes for years on Fit Foodie Finds, and truly there are so many ways to season this yummy veggie. Some of my go-tos include:

More Recipes with Brussels Sprouts

  • Add the chili crunch, honey, avocado oil, sesame oil, and salt to a bowl. Whisk the ingredients together until combined.

  • Add the brussels sprouts and toss to coat.

  • Baking Directions: Preheat the oven to 400ºF. Add the brussels sprouts to a greased baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes, tossing the Brussels sprouts halfway. Brussels sprouts are done when they’re brown and crispy.

  • Air Fryer Directions: Cook the brussels sprouts at 400ºF for 4 minutes, flip, and then cook them for an additional 3 minutes until they are golden brown and crispy. Repeat until all the brussel sprouts are crispy.

  • Stovetop Directions: Heat a skillet over medium/high heat. Add the brussels sprouts to the skillet and cook until browned — about 10 to 15 minutes.

  • Serve the brussels sprouts topped with sesame seeds.

  • All ovens are different. Check the brussels sprouts at the 10 minute mark and add more time in 5 minute increments until fork tender.
  • Don’t like spicy? I would not recommend this dish!

Makeup and Beauty Blog Monday Poll, Vol. 895 http://livelaughlovedo.com/beauty/makeup-and-beauty-blog-monday-poll-vol-895/ http://livelaughlovedo.com/beauty/makeup-and-beauty-blog-monday-poll-vol-895/#respond Tue, 23 Sep 2025 22:32:53 +0000 http://livelaughlovedo.com/2025/09/24/makeup-and-beauty-blog-monday-poll-vol-895/ [ad_1]

So…what is the Monday Poll?

Excellent question! It isn’t, contrary to its name, an actual poll, like with little clicky buttons. It’s just a list of more or less random questions I’ve been posting on this blog every Monday morning for the past quadrillion years (since 2007).

1. Do you enjoy thrifting?

Mostly, yes, if we’re just window shopping and I’m not expecting to find something. If I’m on the hunt for a specific item, then it’s not as fun for me because then I’m just overwhelmed, LOL!

2. One thing you plan to cook this week?

Air fryer chicken parmesan. I’m trying a new recipe!

3. Did fall sneak up on you this year?

Oh, totally. I’m going to try my best to make it a smooth one though. I’m aiming for minimal chaos as we lead up to the holidays, please.

4. How much time does it take to do your hair?

Anywhere between five minutes (side part and low bun) and 20 minutes (loose waves).

5. Do you ever buy beauty products for other people?

Definitely! If it’s something that I love that I think my friends and family will love too, then I hook them up. Yesterday I bought some makeup for Connor, as a matter of fact. She needs some non-irritating eye makeup to wear to dance performances, so I grabbed some Clinique on sale online at Nordstrom.

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

Air Fryer Sweet and Sour Chicken http://livelaughlovedo.com/food-and-drink/air-fryer-sweet-and-sour-chicken/ http://livelaughlovedo.com/food-and-drink/air-fryer-sweet-and-sour-chicken/#respond Sun, 21 Sep 2025 18:28:23 +0000 http://livelaughlovedo.com/2025/09/21/air-fryer-sweet-and-sour-chicken/ [ad_1]

My air fryer sweet and sour chicken bowls feature super crispy chicken, vibrant veggies, and a homemade sweet and sour sauce! I love making this recipe on busy weeknights when I want something that tastes like takeout 🥰🥰. The sweet and sour sauce is so so yummy and only requires a few ingredients. Bonus, my kiddos love this recipe, too!

A bowl of white rice topped with glazed chicken pieces, chopped green onions, and sliced red and green bell peppers.
  • Whole meal in one bowl: Sauté peppers and onions while your chicken is air frying, and serve it all over a bed of rice.
  • Super crispy chicken: I’ve been creating air fryer recipes for years, and this one is one of my favorites! I love every opportunity to make extra crispy chicken (without a deep fryer!), and this one seriously slays. Toss the chicken in my amazing sweet and sour sauce, and ENJOY.
  • Tastes like takeout: I loveeee sweet and sour chicken, but don’t always love the ingredient list when I order it for takeout. My sweet and sour sauce for this recipe is naturally sweetened with honey and orange marmalade, and spiced up just a bit with chili garlic sauce (sriracha also works!).
  • Chicken: I like using boneless skinless chicken breasts for this recipe, but boneless skinless thighs will also work.
  • Panko bread crumbs: Panko helps gives the breading for the chicken its extra CRUNCH when air fryed.
  • Orange marmalade: My secret sauce ingredient! It gives this sweet and sour chicken amazing sweet flavor and thickens the sauce a bit, too.
  • Cornstarch slurry: The slurry is crucial to thickening up the sauce! Don’t want to use cornstarch? Just omit it, but know your sauce will be a bit thinner.
  • Chili garlic sauce: Contrast the sweet marmalade and honey with a little chili garlic sauce (sriracha will also work!). I like to go a little lighter on the spice when I’m serving this to my kiddos, and then add a little extra to mine before serving 😋.
  • Rice vinegar: Adds the perfect of “sour” flavor to balance out the sweetness in the sauce.

Find the list of full ingredients in the recipe card below.

Six-step collage showing breading chicken, air frying, coating with sauce, sautéing bell peppers, and serving the finished dish with vegetables over rice.

How to Make Air Fryer Sweet and Sour Chicken

  1. Prepare the sauce: Add all the ingredients for the sauce into a small saucepan and simmer. Make the cornstarch slurry in a separate bowl and then add it to the simmering sauce to thicken it up
  2. Sauté the veggies: Add your chopped veggies to a skillet with sesame oil, and cook for 5-7 minutes.
  3. Prepare the chicken: Dredge the chicken through flour, then egg wash, and then panko. This order of operations will help the breading stick extra well to the chicken (which yields a super crispy chicken after its air fried!).
  4. Air fry the chicken: Make sure the chicken chunks aren’t touching and air fry to crispy perfection.
  5. Toss the chicken in the sweet and sour sauce.
  6. Assemble into bowls, and ENJOY!

Find the full recipe instructions in the recipe card below.

Serving Suggestions

My instant pot white rice recipe is a go-to! It makes perfect rice every single time. Simply make a batch of rice in the instant pot while you’re preparing the rest of these bowls. Easy peasy.

Storage Instructions

Store this air fryer sweet and sour chicken in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. I like to warm my chicken and veggies back up in the air fryer because it crisps up leftovers so well 🙌🏻. The microwave also works!

A bowl of white rice topped with crispy glazed chicken pieces, sliced red and green bell peppers, and chopped green onions.

More Easy Air-Fryer Recipes

  • Begin by preparing the sweet and sour sauce. Add the honey, ketchup, vinegar, soy sauce, orange marmalade, and chili garlic sauce to a saucepan. Whisk to combine. Bring the mixture to a gentle boil over medium/high heat. Turn the heat to low and simmer.

  • In a separate bowl make the cornstarch slurry, whisk together the cornstarch and warm water. When the cornstarch dissolves, pour the mixture into the saucepan. Whisk the slurry into the sweet and sour sauce. It should begin to thicken pretty quickly. Remove from heat and set aside.

  • Prepare the veggies by heating the sesame oil in a large skillet over medium/high heat. Add the onion and peppers to the oil and season with salt. Saute for 5-7 minutes or until they reach the desired texture. Cover and remove from heat.

  • Next, prepare the chicken. In three separate bowls, add the flour to one, whisked eggs to the second, and panko bread crumbs and salt to the third bowl.

  • Dredge a piece of chicken through the flour, then egg, and then the panko. Be sure it is fully coated. Set aside and repeat until all the chicken has been coated.

  • Transfer the chicken to the air fryer and spray with avocado oil. Be sure the chicken pieces are not overcrowded. Cook at 400º for 5-8 minutes (depends on what type of air fryer you’re using) or until the chicken is golden brown and crispy. You may need to cook the chicken in batches. We are looking for an internal temperature of 165ºF.

  • Transfer the cooked chicken to a large bowl and toss with the sauce until coated. Serve the chicken and peppers over rice or on their own.

  • We used orange marmalade, but you can replace that with any type of jam. Note that if you use a different fruit, it will change the flavor of the sauce.
  • Option to replace the orange marmalade with orange juice. Note that you may need to add a bit more cornstarch to thicken the sauce.

Oven-Baked Bacon Wrapped Chicken – Fit Foodie Finds http://livelaughlovedo.com/food-and-drink/oven-baked-bacon-wrapped-chicken-fit-foodie-finds/ http://livelaughlovedo.com/food-and-drink/oven-baked-bacon-wrapped-chicken-fit-foodie-finds/#respond Wed, 17 Sep 2025 14:05:49 +0000 http://livelaughlovedo.com/2025/09/17/oven-baked-bacon-wrapped-chicken-fit-foodie-finds/ [ad_1]

Anything wrapped in bacon is truly better and that is so true for this oven-baked bacon wrapped chicken! I love batch cooking this recipe because it’s high in protein (45g/serving!) and can be served in a variety of different ways. It’s also ready in less than an hour. Plus, I’m sharing my tried and true #1 top tip for the crispiest bacon wrapped chicken — read on for all the details 😋😋😋.

This chicken wrapped in bacon recipe is such a fun and scrumptious healthy dinner idea. Eat it on its own next to grilled potatoes or top your favorite salad with it.

bacon wrapped chicken on cutting bo

So, how do you get crispy bacon on the outside, but super tender chicken on the inside? My #1 tip is a metal baking rack!

By placing the chicken breast on top of a rack, you allow for the bacon grease to drip off the chicken and onto the bottom of the baking sheet. If the chicken was sitting in the grease, the bacon would have a hard time crisping up.

So, make sure to first line your baking sheet with tin foil (for easy clean up) and then place a metal baking rack on top.

Perfect Pairings and Ways to Serve

Looking for a few sides to complete your back wrapped chicken breast meal? In addition to my bacon wrapped chicken salad, here are a few more yummy ideas to round out a full meal:

chicken on baking rack

Let your chicken breasts cool completely. Then, transfer them into an airtight container and seal. Store in the refrigerator for up to 3-5 days.

To reheat from the fridge: You can either reheat the chicken in the microwave on high for 90 seconds. Or, to get crispier bacon, I recommend reheating in a nonstick skillet or cast iron over medium heat.

To freeze: Let your bacon wrapped in chicken breast cool completely. Then, tightly wrap each one in a piece of tin foil. Freeze for up to 3 months.

To reheat from frozen: Let the bacon wrap chicken breasts thaw in the fridge overnight, and then reheat the same as above.

sliced chicken wrapped chicken breast on plate

How long do you bake chicken wrapped in bacon?

I recommend baking your chicken on a wire rack at 425ºF for around 20-25 minutes or until the internal temperature of the chicken reaches 165ºF (FDA), and the bacon is crispy.

Can you cook raw bacon and raw chicken together?

Yes! That’s definitely one thing I love about this recipe — you don’t have to have to pre-cook either the bacon or the chicken before assembling and baking everything together.

Can I make this bacon wrapped chicken in the air fryer?

This recipe is so delicious made in the air fryer and comes out so crispy!

Air fry at 400ºF for around 7 minutes, flip, and cook for 3 more minutes or until the bacon is crispy and the internal temperature is 165ºF.

PS: Check out my air fryer chicken breast recipe — it’s so juicy!

  • First, preheat the oven to 400ºF and line a baking sheet with tin foil. Place a wire rack on top and set it aside.

  • Combine all of the spices into a small bowl and mix.

  • Then, season each chicken breast with 1 teaspoon of chicken seasoning, making sure to get both sides. Save the remaining spices for later.

  • Next, wrap each chicken breast with 2 to 3 pieces of bacon depending on how big they are. Start at one end and move to the other. Transfer each bacon wrapped chicken breast to the wire rack.

  • Sprinkle the tops of the chicken breasts with the remaining seasoning.

  • Bake chicken breasts at 400ºF for around 20-25 minutes. Then, turn the heat up to 450ºF and bake for 5-10 more until the bacon is crispy. The internal temperature of the chicken should be at least 165ºF and the bacon should be fully cooked.

  • Bacon: make sure NOT to use thick-cut bacon or it will not crisp up like it you want it to.
  • Sweet and Savory: for a sweet and savory flavor, sprinkle a little brown sugar on top of each chicken breast before baking.
  • A wire rack is extremely important for crispy bacon! I tested this recipe with and without a wire rack and found that the only way to get the entire chicken breast nice and crispy is to use one. Don’t forget to line your baking sheet with tin foil for easy cleanup.
  • Air fryer directions: Air fry at 400ºF for around 7 minutes, flip, and cook for 3 more minutes or until the bacon is crisp and the internal temperature is 165ºF.

Air Fryer Broccoli (Easy and Crispy!)- Fit Foodie Finds http://livelaughlovedo.com/food-and-drink/air-fryer-broccoli-easy-and-crispy-fit-foodie-finds/ http://livelaughlovedo.com/food-and-drink/air-fryer-broccoli-easy-and-crispy-fit-foodie-finds/#respond Sat, 13 Sep 2025 09:38:46 +0000 http://livelaughlovedo.com/2025/09/13/air-fryer-broccoli-easy-and-crispy-fit-foodie-finds/ [ad_1]

My Air fryer broccoli is crispy, never mushy, and oh so easy to make. It’s one of my favorite ways to prepare broccoli — and my toddlers agree 😋😋. They’re perfectly seasoned and air fried to crispy perfection in just 10 minutes. I love this broccoli served alongside sous vide steak and air fryer potatoes. Make this for a quick veggie side on busy weeknights!

Air fryer broccoli on a plate.

Ingredients to Gather

  • Broccoli: The star of the show is obviously broccoli for this recipe. I highly recommend using similar sized broccoli florets to ensure even cooking.
  • Lemon juice: A little lemon juice brightens up the broccoli. It’s so delicious.
  • Olive oil: To cook anything in the air fryer you need a little bit of oil. I chose olive oil because we love the flavor. Feel free to use whatever oil you would like.
  • Salt & pepper: I kept things simple for the seasoning for this broccoli recipe. A little salt and pepper did the trick.

Find the list of full ingredients in the recipe card below.

Broccoli florets in a bowl with seasoning.

Change up the Flavor

I kept the spice blend for this air fryer broccoli super simple so that you can taste both the broccoli and the salt and pepper. The lemon juice brightens up the flavor without overpowering whatever you’re serving this broccoli with.

If you want to spice things up, feel free to add a teaspoon or two of any of the spice blends below to your broccoli before air frying:

  • Don’t use too much oil: If you use too much olive oil in this recipe you will end up with over-crisped broccoli. I highly recommend using the suggested amount of oil and no more.
  • Cut broccoli in similar sizes: Make sure to cut your broccoli florets uniformly so that they’re all around the same size. This will make sure they cook at the same rate.
  • Cook until brown & not burnt: Air fry your broccoli for around 10-11 minutes or until golden brown. Mine took 10 minutes and came out crunchy on the outside and while not being mushy or burnt (not overdone at all!).
  • Air fryers vary: Air fryers come in all shapes and sizes. Like ovens, they can vary in temperature. Be sure to check your broccoli half way through and give the basket a little shake to gauge how much additional time is needed.

Best

Air Fryer

On the hunt for the best air fryer? Our favorite is the Ninja Kitchen Air Fryer. It’s reliable and moderately priced.

What to Pair With Air Fryer Broccoli

I love to serve this air fryer broccoli as a side with my baked lemon chicken or with my grilled skirt steak and baked potatoes. Both are on the regular rotation at my house!

How to Store and Reheat Leftovers

This air fryer broccoli is best served immediately (when it’s at its crispiest!), but will keep in the fridge for 3-4 days in an airtight container.

The best way to reheat this broccoli is exactly the way it was cooked — in your air fryer! Reheat leftovers at 350°F for a few minutes until they’re warmed through and crisp back up.

Air fryer broccoli on a plate.

Can I use frozen broccoli in the air fryer?

Yes! If you go this route, follow the recipe instructions below, but place the frozen broccoli in the air fryer right when you turn it on (not after it’s preheated) to allow for additional warming time to cook the frozen broccoli through.

Can I air fry broccoli without oil?

I don’t recommend it! Oil is needed to create the crispy texture, and without it the broccoli will get dried out when air fried. If you don’t want to use oil, I’d recommend steaming broccoli instead.

  • Preheat the air fryer to 400ºF and drizzle the bottom of the air fryer basket with olive oil.

  • Add the broccoli florets to a large bowl and drizzle the broccoli with olive oil and lemon juice. Season them with salt and pepper. Use your hands to massage the oil, salt, and pepper into the broccoli.

  • Transfer the broccoli florets into the air fryer and cook the broccoli for 5 minutes, toss, and cook for another 5 minutes until the broccoli begins to brown.

  • Remove the broccoli from the air fryer and enjoy.

  • Depending on how large your air fryer is you can cook the broccoli in one batch with a larger air fryer or two batches if you have a smaller air fryer.
  • Option to season broccoli with a bit more salt when it comes out of the air fryer.

What Are the Healthiest Air Fryer Foods? Air fryers have become known as a healthier alternative to other cooking methods because, according to Melissa Jaeger, head of nutrition at nutrition tracking app MyFitnessPal, “Air fryer cooking delivers the crispy texture we know and love from fried foods, but with far less oil and fat than traditional deep frying.”

If you’re interested in using your air fryer for healthy recipes but don’t know where to start, we contacted registered dietitians to uncover the healthiest air fryer foods. Plus, they offer helpful, easy recipes for busy nights and air fryer tips

1. Salmon

“In my opinion, salmon is hands-down the best healthy air fryer food,” says Jessica McAllister, a military and tactical performance registered dietitian. “It’s packed with high-quality protein, heart-healthy omega-3 fats and valuable micronutrients like vitamin D, B12 and selenium.” Since it’s a lean protein, salmon can promote muscle repair and energy, while its omega-3s reduce inflammation and support brain and heart health.

McAllister also likes salmon for meal-prepping lunches and dinners because it reheats well. To change things up, you can pair the protein with different spices or sauces for each meal. Yvette Hill, lifestyle medicine dietitian-nutritionist, endorses garlic powder, thyme, pepper and a squeeze of lemon.

However, McAllister warns that you should monitor the cook time of your salmon when it’s in the air fryer. Her recipe of choice:

  1. Brush salmon fillets lightly with olive oil or add a simple spice blend for flavor.
  2. Cook at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 7 to 10 minutes, depending on thickness. Don’t overcrowd the basket so the air can circulate.

“Keeping the skin on the salmon can be another way to consume more healthy fat,” Hill adds. “The skin of the salmon contains a high amount of omega-3 fatty acids.” It will also make the salmon extra crispy.

To reheat your salmon, set the air fryer to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and cook for 5 to 7 minutes.

2. Veggie chips

Registered dietitian Amy Chow of BC Dietitians recommends making veggie chips in the air fryer because they’re easy and quick to make, can be added to a meal or eaten as a snack and are crispy and flavorful enough for both adults and kids to enjoy. She suggests sliced sweet potatoes, carrots, zucchini or kale as chips, or cauliflower or broccoli florets.

Pro tip: Make sure to cover broccoli with foil as it can burn easily in the air fryer.

“You get all the fiber, vitamins and antioxidants from the vegetables without the extra calories or saturated fat from deep-frying,” Chow says. “For kids especially, it’s a way to make vegetables fun and familiar, like chips or fries, but with more nutrition.”

For sweet potato chips, Chow provides these instructions:

  1. Scrub the sweet potato skin under cold running water.
  2. With the skin on, thinly and evenly slice the potatoes into 1/16-inch thick pieces.
  3. Toss the slices with a teaspoon of olive oil and a pinch of salt. You can also add spices such as chili powder or cumin.
  4. Arrange the slices in a single layer with no overlap in your air fryer. Cook at 375 degrees Fahrenheit for about 8 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through.
  5. Let them cool to crisp up before eating.

“A light coating of olive oil or avocado oil can help with browning, flavor and texture, whereas too much can make the food soggy and greasy,” Chow adds. “Using parchment paper or a liner can help absorb some of the excess oil, prevent sticking and maintain the integrity of the air fryer.”

3. Air fried chicken

For a healthier, quicker alternative to traditional fried chicken, Hill advocates for air frying your chicken. “This alternative is healthier because you don’t have to coat or bread the chicken, and you don’t have to deep-fry it in oil,” she says. “The air fryer will also reduce fat in the chicken, allowing the excess to drip into the collecting tray beneath.”

Hill’s quick recipe:

  1. Dry-rub chicken wings with your spice blend of choice and add a small amount of olive oil.
  2. Without overcrowding the basket, air fry the wings for 16 to 22 minutes at 400 degrees Fahrenheit, flipping them halfway through cooking for extra crispiness.

3. Whole veggies you’d normally roast or steam

If slicing veggies for chips is too much after a long day, Jaeger proposes simplifying things even more by using the air fryer to cook whole vegetables you’d normally roast or steam in the oven or on the stovetop. Think Brussels sprouts, cauliflower or broccoli. Lightly toss them in oil and your favorite seasoning blend, and then pop them in the air fryer.

“Since many people fall short of daily fiber needs and don’t eat enough vegetables, air frying can be a simple way to make veggies more enjoyable,” Jaeger explains.

Gabriella Nowicki, a registered dietitian-nutritionist at Rebecca Bitzer and Associates, adds that vegetables that contain a moderate amount of starch typically roast well in an air fryer. This includes potatoes, carrots, squash, plantains and beets. “A small amount of oil combined with a light dusting of cornstarch is often sufficient to achieve that crispy exterior,” Nowicki says.

When it comes to cooking time, Nowicki warns that dense starchy vegetables like potatoes or squash may require more time in the air fryer than lighter veggies like broccoli or green beans. “Play around with temperature and time to find the perfect crispiness for you,” she advises.

5. Sweet potato fries

A single layer is key when making sweet potato fries.

Corin Cesaric/CNET

“Air frying can help retain more nutrients in sweet potatoes versus other methods of cooking them, such as boiling,” says Hill. “Boiling can cause loss of water-soluble vitamins like B vitamins and vitamin C.”

To make your sweet potato fries, according to Hill:

  1. Wash and dry the potatoes before cutting them into 1/4-inch think pieces, lengthwise. You can keep the skin on to make them crispier.
  2. Add olive oil, rosemary and a pinch of salt.
  3. Arrange them in a single layer in your basket. Air fry at 390 degrees Fahrenheit for 20 minutes.

Why is air frying considered healthier than frying?

“The primary concern with traditional frying lies in the cooking method itself,” Nowicki says. “Most fried foods are first coated in batter or breading, which increases the carbohydrate and calorie content before the food even touches the oil. Once submerged in hot oil, the breading absorbs significant amounts of fat, further raising the overall calorie density of the dish.”

Health Tips

The type of oil you’re using and the high temperature are also factors to consider. Nowicki states that many commercial frying oils are high in omega-6 fatty acids, which can promote inflammation when consumed in excess. Heating that oil over and over again also generates potentially toxic oxidation byproducts and, in some cases, trans fats, which are linked to increased cardiovascular health risks.

“Air frying takes the excess breading and oil out of the equation and therefore, is healthier,” Nowicki says.

3 top air-frying tips from experts

Don’t overcrowd your basket: “Air fryers are designed for the best cooking results when the basket isn’t overcrowded or foods are cooked in a single layer,” Jaeger explains. “Consider batch cooking to keep meal items in a single layer or shaking the basket at various times while cooking to ensure foods stuck in the middle layer don’t result in a soggy mess.”

Use only a light coating of oil: To prevent sticking and achieve a crispy exterior, Nowicki suggests using a light coating of oil like avocado oil or canola oil for temperatures over 425 degrees Fahrenheit. “This will reduce oxidation,” she says.

Shake the basket: Both Jaeger and Nowicki recommend shaking your air fryer’s basket halfway through the cooking process to ensure that everything cooks and crisps evenly.

Air Fryer Apple Fritters (With Glaze) http://livelaughlovedo.com/food-and-drink/air-fryer-apple-fritters-with-glaze/ http://livelaughlovedo.com/food-and-drink/air-fryer-apple-fritters-with-glaze/#respond Tue, 19 Aug 2025 16:33:54 +0000 http://livelaughlovedo.com/2025/08/19/air-fryer-apple-fritters-with-glaze/ [ad_1]

These easy air fryer apple fritters are made with cottage cheese, sliced apples, and a simple homemade glaze. They’re crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside. An amazing healthier twist on a classic sweet treat with all the iconic flavors of fall! I can’t wait for you to try this recipe ❤.

Tastes just like the OG without the deep fryer.

Serve ’em up at everything from brunch to an after school sweet treat.

Apples + cinnamon + sweet glaze — what’s not to love?!

A step-by-step process of making apple scones: mixing ingredients, forming dough, baking in an air fryer, drizzling icing, and showing the baked scone with apple pieces inside.

Ingredients to Gather

  • Diced apples: where are my honey crisp fans at?! I love the flavor and crisp texture of honey crisp apples, but you do you and choose the apple variety of your choice.
  • 2% blended cottage cheese: any fuller fat cottage cheese will work for this recipe. I recommend at least 2%, but I’ve also tested this with 4% and it worked great. Any low fat cottage cheese will have a higher water content, which will require more flour to form into a dough.
  • Brown sugar: you’ll toss the diced apples with brown sugar which is just straight up perfect fall flavors IMO.
  • Ground cinnamon: same goes wit the cinnamon! It’s a perfect complement to the apple and brown sugar flavors of fall.
  • Unsweetened almond milk: this is my preferred liquid for these fritters. Technically, any milk will work, but I prefer the mild flavor of plain, unsweetened almond milk.

Find the list of full ingredients in the recipe card below.

My Method for Making Air Fryer Apple Fritters

  1. Prepare the apples: Add the diced apples, brown sugar, and cinnamon to a bowl, and toss to coat the apple pieces.
  2. Prepare the dough: Add the dry ingredients to the bowl with the apples, and stir to mix. Then, add in the blended cottage cheese and stir until a ball starts to form. Then, use your hands to knead the dough in the bowl. Lightly flour a work surface and turn the dough out before cutting into 4 pieces. Place 2 apple fritters on parchment paper and press down to a traditional fritter shape (round or oblong).
  3. Air fry the fritters: Air fry the fritters, flipping halfway through to brown both sides.
  4. Make the glaze: Add the powdered sugar and almond milk to a bowl and whisk to combine. That’s it!
  5. Glaze and enjoy! Dip the fritters into the glaze; set them on a wire rack, and allow the glaze to set for a few minutes before serving!

The Perfect Sweet Treat

I love making these apple fritters in the morning with the kiddos. Something about sitting in the porch on a cool fall morning enjoying one of these yummy treats with a cup of coffee while the kiddos play 🥰🥰.

These apple fritters also make for a great after school snack or sweet treat after dinner. You really can’t go wrong with the ingredient list here, so choose your own adventure on when and where you serve ’em.

If You Have Leftovers

If you have leftover apple fritters, allow them to cool completely before storing on the counter in a vented bag. As the apples continue to soften over time, they will seep moisture and can cause the fritters to become soggy if stored in an airtight container. Venting it helps prevent this.

Four apple-studded pastries with glaze sit on a cooling rack, surrounded by apples, cinnamon, and apple slices on a light surface.

Why did my apple fritters get soggy?

This could be happening for a couple reasons! If you crowd the apple fritters too much in the air fryer, it will actually steam them instead of air fry them. Make sure your fritters are not touching in the air fryer.

The other reason this could be happening is because you did not allow them to cool before storing leftovers. I recommend venting the bag or container you store leftovers in to prevent the apple moisture from creating a soggy texture. You can also air fry leftover fritters for a minute or two before serving to crisp them up again.

How do you prevent air fryer apple fritters from sticking to the basket?

I recommend cooking these apple fritters on parchment paper in the air fryer. Not only does it prevent them from sticking to the basket, it also prevents the lines from the grate on the air fryer from transferring onto the fritters.

Can I make these gluten-free?

I have not tested these apple fritters with GF flour, but my go-to is always Bob’s Red Mill 1:1. If you test this ingredient swap, please let me know how it goes in the comments! ❤

  • Preheat the air fryer to 375℉.

  • Add the diced apples, brown sugar, and cinnamon to a bowl. Toss to coat the apple pieces.

  • Next, add the flour, baking powder, and salt to the bowl. Stir to mix.

  • Add the blended cottage cheese and stir using a wooden spoon or silicone spatula. Once a ball starts to form, use your hands to knead the dough in the bowl.

  • Lightly flour a work surface and turn the dough out. Cut into 4 pieces.

  • Place 2 apple fritters on parchment paper and press down to a traditional fritter shape (round).

  • Air fry at 375℉ for 4 minutes. Flip and air fry for another 4 minutes. Continue until all the dough has been cooked.

  • While the fritters are air frying, make the glaze. Add the powdered sugar and almond milk to a bowl and whisk to combine.

  • When the fritters are ready, dip them into the glaze, then set them on a wire cooling rack.

  • Allow a few minutes for the glaze to set before serving.

  • The amount of flour that you may need during the kneading and portioning part of this recipe will depend on how well blended the cottage cheese is. If you need more flour, add 1 tablespoon at a time until the dough no longer sticky.
  • Any milk can be used in the glaze.
  • I prefer cooking these fritters on parchment paper to eliminate the lines that come from the rack in the air fryer.

Learn how to cook fresh green beans in the air fryer! A delicious weeknight side dish, they’re lightly crisp, tender, and ready in 10 minutes.

air fryer green beans

Have you ever tried cooking green beans in the air fryer? They come out lightly crisp, tender, and beautifully caramelized. And best of all, they’re ready in 10 minutes. Just like my air fryer zucchini and air fryer corn on the cob, these air fryer green beans are a perfect healthy side dish for busy weeknights.

Fresh green beans are one of my favorite vegetables to cook at this time of year, so in the last few weeks, I’ve had this air fryer green beans recipe on repeat. I’m sharing a few of my go-to serving suggestions below, but to be honest, these green beans pair well with just about any main dish. Serve them with grilled tofu, a summery pasta…you can’t go wrong!

recipe ingredients - green beans, olive oil, salt, pepper, and lemons

How to Air Fry Green Beans

This recipe is super simple to make:

  • Start by washing and trimming your green beans. Pat them dry to help them brown and crisp up as they cook.
  • Then, season the beans. Toss them with olive oil, salt, and several grinds of pepper.
  • Next, air fry them. If your air fryer requires preheating, preheat it to 400°F. Spread the green beans in a single layer in the air fryer basket and air fry for 9 to 11 minutes, or until the beans are tender and browned in places.
  • Squeeze with fresh lemon juice, and enjoy!

Find the complete recipe with measurements below.

Air Fryer Green Beans Tips

  • Work in batches if necessary. I always give this tip when I share an air fryer recipe! In order for the veggies to brown and crisp up as they cook, they need to be in a single layer in the air fryer basket. (If it’s too crowded, they’ll steam and soften instead.) Depending on the size of your air fryer, all the green beans may not fit in a single layer. If that’s the case, cook them in 2 to 3 batches to avoid overcrowding.
  • Look for haricots verts. You can use any kind of fresh green beans in this recipe, but my personal favorites are French green beans, or haricots verts. These slender beans have a sweeter flavor and snappier texture than other varieties, and they almost taste buttery. Bonus: they often come pre-trimmed.
  • Spice them up, if you like. I season these green beans simply with olive oil, salt, pepper, and lemon juice, but they’d be great with other spices or seasonings too! Try tossing them with a little garlic powder, Italian seasoning, or dried thyme before cooking. You could garnish them with fresh herbs, red pepper flakes, and/or Parmesan cheese after roasting too.

What to Serve with Air Fryer Green Beans

These easy air fryer green beans pair well with almost any main dish!

Serve them with a simple pasta, like my lemon pasta or pasta puttanesca, or pair them with a simply cooked protein like this crispy sesame tofu. They’re great alongside a frittata too!

And maybe this goes without saying, but this recipe would also be a lovely holiday side dish.

How to Store and Reheat

This recipe is best right after cooking, but if you have leftovers, you can store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

I like to reheat them in the air fryer so that they crisp up. It only takes 5 to 10 minutes at 350°F!

Air fryer green beans recipe

Don’t have an air fryer? Make these oven roasted green beans instead! They’re not quite as quick, but they’re just as delicious.

That said, an air fryer really does come in handy for weeknight cooking. If you’re thinking about getting one, I recommend the Our Place Wonder Oven. I love that it doesn’t require preheating, and its compact size fits well on my countertop. It’s super cute too!

This air fryer zucchini is tender and flavorful, tossed in a delicious garlic and herb seasoning. Ready in 10 minutes, it’s a perfect weeknight side dish!

Air fryer zucchini

This air fryer zucchini recipe is a quick and easy side dish for busy weeknights. It cooks in about 10 minutes and requires just 6 basic ingredients, but it still comes out tender, caramelized, and flavorful every time.

I think of it as my summer shortcut for making roasted zucchini. Unlike the oven, the air fryer won’t heat up your entire house, which makes this recipe a lifesaver in hot weather. It’s also faster (no preheating required!), and with a four-year-old running around, I can’t complain about saving a few minutes in the kitchen. 🙂

If you have an air fryer, try this recipe the next time you need a simple weeknight side. I think you’ll love it!

Air Fryer Zucchini Ingredients

You need 6 basic ingredients to make this air fryer zucchini recipe:

  • Zucchini, of course! Choose small to medium sized zucchini over larger ones. They’ll have a sweeter flavor and firmer texture.
  • Garlic powder and Italian seasoning – I use these seasonings on my roasted zucchini too. They add delicious savory flavor!
  • Extra-virgin olive oil – It helps the zucchini brown and soften as it cooks.
  • And salt and pepper – To make all the flavors pop!

Optional, but tasty: Top the zucchini with freshly grated Parmesan cheese (or vegan Parmesan) when it comes out of the air fryer. It adds an extra layer of nutty, umami flavor.

Find the complete recipe with measurements below.

Zucchini in air fryer basket

How to Air Fry Zucchini

This air fryer zucchini recipe has 3 simple steps:

Start by prepping the zucchini. Cut it into 1-inch half-moons, then place it in a large bowl and toss it with the olive oil, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.

Next, air fry the zucchini. Spread it in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Cook at 400°F for 9 to 11 minutes, or until tender and browned around the edges.

  • Note: Air fryers vary! I own (and love) the Our Place Wonder Oven, which doesn’t require preheating and cooks zucchini to perfection in about 10 minutes. Make sure to preheat yours if necessary, and adjust the cook time if needed. The squash is ready when it’s tender and browned.

Finally, season and serve. Taste the zucchini and season with additional salt and pepper if desired. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese, if using, and enjoy!

Recipe Tips

  • Work in batches if necessary. This is my #1 tip for any air fryer recipe! The key to getting nicely browned, caramelized veggies is to give them plenty of space in the air fryer basket, so make sure your zucchini fits in a single layer. If it doesn’t, take some out and work in batches. Otherwise, the zucchini will steam and soften (not brown) as it cooks.
  • Have fun with the seasonings. I love the garlic, herb, and Parm combo here, but lots of other seasonings are great too! Replace the Italian seasoning with dried thyme or herbes de Provence, or skip the herbs and add spices like chili powder and/or cumin. Squeeze the zucchini with lemon or lime juice before serving, or garnish it with fresh basil or parsley instead of cheese. The options are endless!

What to Serve with Air Fryer Zucchini

You can serve this recipe as a side dish with practically any meal. Pair it with your favorite simply cooked protein or a pasta like my pesto pasta, cacio e pepe, or pasta puttanesca.

It would be great alongside (or even in) a frittata or crustless quiche too.

How to Store

I like this zucchini best when it’s hot from the air fryer, but if you have leftovers, you can store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

Enjoy them at room temperature or quickly reheat them in the microwave or air fryer.
