As I’m sure you know if you’ve been on literally any website today, the VMAs were this weekend. What you might not know if you didn’t catch it live is that it was a pretty gay affair. And I’m going to highlight some of the gay goings-on for you, in case you don’t feel like watching the whole dang thing.

First up, some queer people who took home a coveted Moonman:

Lady Gaga won Artist of the Year, Best Direction, and Best Art Direction (all before heading directly to Madison Square Garden to perform to a sold-out audience…just a casual Sunday). She also won Best Collaboration for her joint venture with Bruno Mars, Die with a Smile.

KATSEYE won Push Performance of the Year, Doechii’s won Best Hip-Hop, Best Choreography for “Anxiety”, Lisa ft. Doja Cat & Raye took home Best K-Pop, and Charli xcx’s Guess Featuring Billie Eilish won Video for Good because of the over-10,000 pairs of underwear donated to I Support the Girls, a charity that provides underwear and period products to women in need.

A stand-out moment of the show was when Sabrina Carpenter took to the stage to perform her new song, “Tears”, and included in her retinue of backup dancers were RuPaul Drag Race queens, including Denali, Willam, Symone, Laganja Estranja, and Lexi Love. The backup dancers all held signs that had pro-trans (and pro-LGBTQ+ in general) messaging on them, including but not limited to, “Support local drag,” “DOLLS DOLLS DOLLS”, “Good bi”, “In trans we trust”, and “Protect trans rights”. In her acceptance speech when she won Best Album, Sabrina Carpenter addressed the queens and expressed her gratitude to be part of something so positive amidst all the negativity and discrimination going on in our world.

Also worth mentioning: Ariana Grande thanked us in her acceptance speech! Okay maybe not you and me specifically but also not NOT you and me specifically! When she went up to accept one of her three awards won last night, she said, “Thank you to my therapists and gay people, I love you.” And while this is very cute and sweet — especially now that she’s now a “gay icon” to gay men AND a queer icon to the sapphics who love Wicked — it’s also more than that, especially in 2025 when there are literal “don’t say gay” bills being passed.

I’ll leave you with this handy dandy list that Them pulled together of what some of the LGBTQ+ celebs wore on the red carpet. And this bonus video of Rebecca Black being AT the VMAs but still having to watch Tate McRae’s performance on her phone because she went to get food and they wouldn’t let her back in until the commercial break. Stars, they’re just like us!

Dylan Walsh and his family are “safe” after being involved in a car accident in Rumson, New Jersey.

The Nip/Tuck star’s representative issued a statement to Us Weekly on Wednesday, August 20, confirming, “Thankfully, everyone is safe and has since returned home. The family is deeply grateful for the swift response of the Rumson Police, Fire Department, and EMS, as well as the staff at Riverview Medical Center for their care.”

The statement continued, “They would also like to extend a special thank-you to the management and staff of The River Point Inn for their support in the immediate aftermath.”

Earlier this week, Patch reported that two people experiencing pain were taken to the hospital following a serious, single-car accident on Sunday, August 17. Patrol officers were called to an intersection where they “found that a 2022 Ford Explorer with five people in it had been traveling northbound on East River Road when it veered into the southbound lane,” the outlet reported on Tuesday, August 19.

According to Rumson Police Lt. Christopher Isherwood, the car broke through a utility pole before colliding with another utility pole. Both poles were damaged.

The incident caused a brief power outage affecting eight people, and closed the intersection through Tuesday morning while the utility poles were replaced.

It is unclear who was behind the wheel during the crash. An investigation is underway. 

Walsh’s wife, Leslie Bourque-Walsh, mentioned the accident in a Facebook post that has since been deleted. Per the outlet Towns Of: Monmouth County, NJ, her update read, “It was our family who was involved in the car accident on River Road yesterday afternoon. We just want to thank everyone who took care of us in this scary time.”

Bourque-Walsh expressed gratitude “to the managers/staff at River Point Inn who immediately ran out to make sure we were ok and comfort our kids (literally one lady wrapped her arms around all of us letting us know it would be ok) – bringing ice bags and the fancy Evian water bottles.”

She also thanked “the first responders who came faster than one would think. The EMT who put up with my corny jokes in the ambulance. And the ER staff at Riverview Medical.”

In conclusion, she wrote, “We are a bit bruised from seatbelts, but grateful for them and air bags which saved our lives. We apologize for anyone who lost power or inconvenience.”

Bourque-Walsh followed up with another Facebook message — this one dedicated to the family’s car. 

“Today we got all of our stuff out of our Timberline- the EZ pass, the Thule on top and said good bye… This car drove our family on the very best road trip from Vancouver, BC to Rumson, NJ,” she wrote, adding, “All in all it is just a car, but so many memories attached to it.”

Walsh, 61, and his wife, 53, share daughter Amelie Belle and son Hudson Scott. The actor, who played Dr. Sean McNamara on FX’s Nip/Tuck, also shares daughter Stella with ex-wife Joanna Going as well as son Thomas and daughter Joanna with his first wife Melora Walters.

Coldplay’s kiss cam isn’t going anywhere.

The band’s lead singer, Chris Martin, joked about former Astronomer CEO Andy Byron and Chief People Officer Kristin Cabot’s viral scandal at Craven Park in Kingston upon Hull, England, on Monday, August 18, telling fans that Coldplay had no plans to stop using the Jumbotron one month after it seemingly exposed Byron, 50, and Cabot’s extramarital affair.

“We are so happy to be here. Many of you have written signs. So, I’ll take some time to try and read some signs. Then we’ll see what happens,” Martin, 48, told the audience, per HullLive and NME.

After reading a fan’s sign that stated they’d been to Coldplay concerts “three times in three months,” Martin said, “You were at that Boston gig,” referring to the July 16 concert at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, Massachusetts, where the kiss cam scandal took place.

Ryan Reynolds deserves some credit for helping Astronomer address the Coldplay kiss cam scandal. “Well, OK, thank you for coming again after that debacle,” he joked.

“We’ve been doing [the Jumbotron] a long time and it is only recently that it became a … yeah,” Martin continued. “Life throws you lemons and you’ve got to make lemonade. So, we are going to keep doing it because we are going to meet some of you.”

Byron and Cabot, 52, made headlines after footage of the pair’s reaction to appearing on the Jumbotron at Coldplay’s concert went viral on social media. Byron had his arms wrapped around Cabot when the kiss cam stopped on the pair. Once they realized they were on camera, Byron dropped his arms from Cabot’s waist and ducked out of the Jumbotron’s view, while Cabot pulled her hands over her face and turned around.

Byron is married to Megan Kerrigan Byron, according to multiple outlets, while The New York Post reported that Cabot is married to Andrew Cabot.

Us Weekly reached out to Astronomer and both executives for comment at the time.

After seeing Andy and Kristin’s reaction to the Jumbotron, Martin said to the crowd, “Whoa, look at these two. Alright, come on. You’re OK. Either they’re having an affair or they’re just very shy. I’m not quite sure what to do. Holy s***. I hope we didn’t do something bad.”

When the kiss cam moved on to another couple, Martin said, “OK, now listen, are you two a couple? Are you two a legitimate couple?” After the pair nodded, Martin said, “OK, good,” and began to play Coldplay’s “Fix You.”

Byron stepped down as CEO of Astronomer days after the scandal.

“Astronomer is committed to the values and culture that have guided us since our founding. Our leaders are expected to set the standard in both conduct and accountability, and recently, that standard was not met,” the company shared in a statement. “Andy Byron has tendered his resignation, and the Board of Directors has accepted. The Board will begin a search for our next Chief Executive as Cofounder and Chief Product Officer Pete DeJoy continues to serve as interim CEO.”

It’s official: Pete Davidson is going to be a dad—and he announced it in the most Pete Davidson way possible.

In a photo carousel posted to girlfriend and actor Elsie Hewitt’s Instagram, the Saturday Night Live alum can be seen hugging her from behind in a sweet film snap. A second slide reveals a sonogram of their baby on the way. And in case that didn’t make things clear enough, Elsie’s cheeky caption sealed it: “welp now everyone knows we had sex.” (If you look closely, there’s even a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it “Mamacita” nod for the Love Island USA fans.)

According to TMZ. Sources close to the couple say Elsie is due this winter, and they’ve only recently begun sharing the news with friends and family. “The pair couldn’t be more excited,” TMZ reports.

Their relationship may have started quietly, but it moved quickly. The couple first sparked dating rumors in March 2025 and, as People reported in May, had moved in together shortly after. Since then, they’ve made low-key appearances abroad and at Dave Navarro’s wedding, but this post marks a much more personal milestone.

While the post was peak Pete—irreverent, hilarious, and low-key chaotic—it’s also been years in the making.

Back in 2022, during an episode of Hart to Heart, Davidson shared that it’s his “dream” to one day become a father. Despite not having a great childhood, he called himself “a family guy.”

“My favorite thing ever, which I have yet to achieve is, I wanna have a kid. That’s, like, my dream,” the comedian and actor told Kevin Hart. “It’s, like, super corny, but it … would be so fun to dress up the little dude.”

He noted that he’s “so excited for that chapter.” “That’s kind of what I’m just preparing for now, is just trying to be as good as a dude and develop and get better so when that happens it’s just easier,” he added.

Now, just a few years later, that dream is becoming real.

Among the first to celebrate? Pete’s longtime friend Machine Gun Kelly, who dropped into the comments with: “these playdates bout to hittttt.” The baby isn’t even here yet, and the group text energy is already immaculate.

For millions of parents, it’s a deeply familiar shift: the moment you go from being known for who you were to being known as someone’s parent. The moment everything quietly changes.

No word yet on baby names or nursery colors. But based on the hug, the grin, and the caption only Pete could pull off, this next chapter already feels unforgettable.
