You can always expect the unexpected when it comes to Kristen Stewart‘s hair. We can wait a long time between public appearances—she’s not one to share peeks at her life on social media or give the paparazzi much opportunity to snap her—and when she shows up on a red carpet, there’s always a good chance her hair will have changed significantly since the last appearance. And she often gets creative with color or cuts. So imagine our surprise when her latest very big change is actually a very… normal one.

Stewart attended a screening of The Chronology Of Water at the London Film Festival on October 16, the first time she’s made an appearance since mid-September, when she was sporting a mix of blonde, faded pink, and plenty of dark roots. In fact, she’s been nearly platinum with some degree of pink for most of the year. But now, for the first time (as far as we can tell) since last October, Stewart is once again a brunette.

The actor is still sporting a style similar to how she’s been wearing it for months: long, with loosely wavy, air-dried look. She also still has fringe, but it’s notably shorter, drifting into baby-bangs territory.

The big difference, though, is the color. It’s now a warm medium-brown—much, much darker than than the blonde she’s been letting grow out, but still quite a bit lighter than the deep brunette she wore for all of 2024.

As the designer presented her Spring/Summer 2026 collection at the landmarked One Hanson Place in Brooklyn, her ardent supporters from the entertainment and fashion industries turned up en masse.

Weeks after releasing her eighth studio album, Ciara channeled ‘executive realness’ in a Resort 2026 look that brought together the three Ps: pin stripes, a power shoulder, and peep-toes. Much like on the runway this time around, pencil skirts abounded, with Jessica Alba opting for a deep brown leather version and Chloe Fineman teaming her fluted-hem magenta number with a matching shrunken jacket. Burch’s show also brought out actors Naomi Watts and Emma Roberts, who shone a spotlight on the recently-debuted Lee Radziwill shoulder bags in suede and pebbled leather and peep-toe pumps.

Yesterday, InStyle dropped the cover for their September 2025 issue, and this month’s cover star is no other than the inimitable Kerry Washington. In the photo, the actor’s curls are styled in an updo, with a few loose strands framing the face; her skin is glowy and the natural base is paired with a deep burgundy red lip. She’s wearing a dark green cardigan with a matching stole, a bralette, and a chic fur accessory. Together, Washington is serving major fall vibes in this cover shoot — and what really pulls the look together is her choice of nail color. Her almond-shaped nails are painted a striking marigold yellow.

“Kerry is amazing with always letting me give my suggestions for her shoots and as soon as I [saw] the vibe, I felt [that] earthy tones [were] a must!” celebrity nail artist Sreynin Peng, the nail artist behind the manicure, wrote in an Instagram caption. Peng swiped on two coats on Aprés Gel Nail Color in “Forever Marigold” then topped things off with a glossy top coat.

When it comes to fall nail trends, earth tone shades are especially popular. “Fall colors will likely lean toward muted earth tones, reflecting the season’s warm and grounded atmosphere,” Evelyn Lim, chief educator at MiniLuxe’s Paintbox Studio, previously shared with TZR.

Earth tones, however, don’t just mean you’re stuck with browns and greens; the palette draws from the rich tones found in nature, including the color of the changing leaves, giving you so many shades to choose from. Marigold yellow is an unexpected fall nail color, but that makes it all the more fun. Next time you’re at the nail salon, why not take a page out of Washington’s book and opt for the bold hue?
