Shampoo and conditioner bars have elevated the sustainable hair care game. Since we last tested these plastic container-free alternatives, we have noticed that they’ve evolved and expanded to address everything from dryness to brassiness. Plus, the bars deliver up to 100 washes without cluttering your shower. With formulas that tackle a range of hair concerns, we’ve rounded up the best of the best.

Best for damage repair:

When it comes to repairing and protecting your hair, these three bars will be your go-to for revitalization. Start with the Kitsch Strengthening Solid Shampoo, which balances pH and uses rice water protein to mend damage. It prevents split ends, promotes hair growth, and leaves your hair soft and shiny—all while saving two plastic bottles per bar.

Follow up with the Kitsch Strengthening Solid Conditioner, infused with rice water protein and essential oils to rejuvenate damaged follicles, smooth split ends, and enhance the shine of dull, dry hair.

The Kitsch Strengthening Bond Repair Solid Treatment is a weekly essential for restoring life to dry hair. Enriched with a vegan keratin-like protein and marula oil, it seals the cuticle, deeply nourishes, and locks in moisture. Use it once a week for ten minutes to experience the transformative effects.

Best for combatting dullness:

Designed to breathe new life into lackluster strands, this salon-quality bar delivers a deep clean that removes buildup and excess oil that causes dullness, without stripping your hair of its natural moisture. Infused with refreshing tea tree and mint essential oils, it leaves your hair feeling revitalized and your scalp invigorated. This clean provides the perfect base for your styling routine, ensuring your hair looks its shiniest.

Best for restoring moisture:

Parched strands will drink up the benefits of these two bars. The Hydrating Shampoo Bar blends aloe vera, natural glycerin, and castor oil to gently cleanse while infusing moisture, leaving your hair vibrant and refreshed. Pair it with the Deep-Moisturizing Conditioner, enriched with coconut oil, cocoa seed butter, and shea butter to soften, strengthen, and add shine to dry, brittle hair. Essential oils like lavender and orange enhance the experience, ensuring your hair stays deeply nourished and smooth.

Best for reducing skin irritation:

Sensitive scalps, your search for a gentler shampoo ends here. This 2-in-1 bar is perfect for those with skin and fragrance sensitivities, offering a soothing cleanse for both hair and body. Free from fragrance and colorants, it provides a nourishing touch for healthy-looking hair, scalp, and skin. Ideal for a calming and irritation-free experience.

Best for busting brassiness:

Blondes, whether your hair is color-treated, highlighted, or natural, this purple toning duo is your key to eliminating brassiness and yellow tones.

Perfect for all blondes, this shampoo neutralizes unwanted brassiness and yellow undertones. Infused with biotin, it enhances shine, reduces dullness, and strengthens your hair. Follow up with the conditioning bar to nourish, detangle, and also combat brassiness. Biotin helps boost shine and strength for a smoother, healthier, and more vibrant blonde hair.

Hydrate your lips with simple, natural ingredients. This lip balm will harden into a similar consistency as your normal chapstick. You can make it softer by adding more oil, or harder by adding more wax.

1/4 cup almond oil
1 1/2 tsp. pure beeswax
1 tsp. vegetable glycerin
1-2 drops peppermint essential oil

Coffee coconut body scrub – Green Living Ideas http://livelaughlovedo.com/sustainable-living/coffee-coconut-body-scrub-green-living-ideas/ http://livelaughlovedo.com/sustainable-living/coffee-coconut-body-scrub-green-living-ideas/#respond Wed, 18 Jun 2025 11:24:21 +0000 http://livelaughlovedo.com/2025/06/18/coffee-coconut-body-scrub-green-living-ideas/ [ad_1]

You can use this to exfoliate and refresh your skin. The coconut oil will provide skin hydration much as any lotion would, and the coffee grounds gently strip away dead skin when you apply this scrub with light pressure. We suggest this as a great way to reuse coffee grinds after there’s no caffeine left in them, more or less making them useless except for this body scrub! Do not use this in your bathtub or elsewhere over a drain though, as neither the coffee grinds nor the coconut oil are good for your plumbing. This is a great one for a day at the beach or the lake, or out in the yard where you can hose yourself off after.

1 cup coffee grinds (if using once-used coffee grinds, make sure to dry them out on a cookie sheet or paper towel to prolong the life of your scrub)
½ cup coconut oil, melted just enough to make it liquid (about 75 degrees F)
¼ cup sugar

Directions:

  1. Mix all ingredients. Store in an airtight and watertight container.

This one is a little astringent if you have dry or sensitive skin, so use sparingly, or apply a test patch.
