This article is sponsored by Colugo . Thank you for supporting the brands that support Motherly and mamas.

Let me guess: somewhere in your house, there’s a car seat that’s either expired, outgrown, or just taking up space like that exercise bike you definitely still use (we see you). Well, friend, it’s time to Marie Kondo that baby gear—but in a way that actually sparks joy and saves you money.

Target’s Car Seat Trade-In Event is happening right now through October 4th, and this year it’s perfectly timed with the launch of something that’ll make your parenting life infinitely easier: the Colugo Compact Stroller+. Because nothing says “I’ve got my life together” quite like scoring a 20% discount while responsibly recycling baby gear you no longer need.

Why Ashley Tisdale and your sleep-deprived self both love Colugo

Ashley Tisdale knows the value of gear that actually makes mom’s life easier—which is why she’s a fan of the Compact+. And if it works for her busy life, it’s bound to be a game-changer for everyday parents juggling naps, snacks, and park runs.

The Compact+ weighs just 16.18 pounds but handles kids up to 55 pounds—which means it’ll survive the toddler years when your sweet angel child suddenly weighs as much as a small refrigerator and has the attitude to match. Look, $299 isn’t pocket change, but consider this: you’re getting a stroller that includes all the accessories other brands charge extra for, plus features that typically push competitor prices well into the $500+ range.

The specs that actually matter (AKA the stuff that’ll save your sanity)

The one-hand auto-fold isn’t just a nice-to-have feature—it’s the difference between looking like you have your life together and doing the stroller-wrestling dance in a Target parking lot while everyone judges your technique.

Fits in airplane overhead bins because gate-checking is for people who enjoy gambling with their vacation vibes. Whether you’re hopping from New York to Pittsburgh or going big with LA to Tokyo, this thing travels like a seasoned pro.

Machine-washable fabrics because toddlers are basically tiny chaos agents whose mission is to make everything sticky. Just pop out the comfort liner, throw it in the wash, and air dry. No fancy cleaning required.

Limitless recline positions mean your kid can nap in whatever weird position makes them happy, from sitting up to judge your life choices to full horizontal “I’m done with today” mode.

Target’s trade-in event: your ticket to stroller upgrade glory

Here’s where the magic happens. Through October 4th, you can bring any old car seat—expired, damaged, or just unwanted—to Target and get a 20% off Target Circle Bonus that works twice. That’s right, twice.

Target accepts all types of car seats: infant seats, convertible seats, bases, booster seats—even the ones that are expired, damaged, or have been in crashes. The process is painfully simple:

  1. Download the Target Circle app if you haven’t already
  2. Bring your old car seat to any participating Target store
  3. Find the big trade-in box near Guest Services
  4. Drop in your old seat and scan the QR code with your app
  5. Use your 20% off bonus on strollers or baby gear through October 18th

The environmental win (because we’re raising future planet inheritors)

Since 2016, Target has recycled more than 3.5 million car seats, turning them into everything from pallets to construction materials. Those old seats become useful things instead of taking up space in landfills, which feels pretty good when you’re teaching your kids about taking care of the world they’re going to run someday.

The real parent review that says it all

One Compact+ parent summed it up perfectly: “Great stroller!! It’s like the mini-cooper of strollers. Super compact and has more features and accessories than you’d find with most other stroller brands… Very simple and affordable and a great option for anyone looking for something more compact!”

Translation: it’s small enough to not dominate your life, fancy enough to make you feel like a competent adult, and affordable enough that you won’t feel guilty about spending money on yourself.

The bottom line

Parenting is hard enough without fighting with baby gear that seems designed by people who have never actually had to use it while juggling a diaper bag, cold coffee, and a small human having opinions about everything.

The Colugo Compact Stroller+ gets it. Target’s trade-in event gets it. So grab that old car seat gathering dust, head to Target, and get your ticket to upgrade to a stroller that’ll make your daily chaos feel slightly more manageable. You can use your 20% to to grab your Compact+ on Target.com for a steal; and in case you needed this yesterday, it’s even available to pick up at select stores.  Because if we’re all just winging it anyway, we might as well wing it with really good gear.

Ready to upgrade? The Compact+ is available now for $299 (or less with your Target trade-in bonus). Not trading in a seat? You can still purchase at Colugo.com and use code COMPACTPLUS for 20% off launch pricing—for a limited time. Plus, sign up for Colugo’s email list for exclusive deals and early access to new launches.

Target’s Car Seat Trade-In Event runs through October 4, 2025, with bonuses valid through October 18, 2025.

Our Favorite Brand for Non-Toxic, Low-Waste Diapers http://livelaughlovedo.com/sustainable-living/our-favorite-brand-for-non-toxic-low-waste-diapers/ http://livelaughlovedo.com/sustainable-living/our-favorite-brand-for-non-toxic-low-waste-diapers/#respond Sat, 07 Jun 2025 04:48:13 +0000 http://livelaughlovedo.com/2025/06/07/our-favorite-brand-for-non-toxic-low-waste-diapers/ [ad_1]

There’s no easy way to say it: babies produce a lot of waste.

In fact, most babies will use around 6,000 diapers in their first two years of life. The most commonly offered alternative to disposable diapers is reusable ones—which simply aren’t a solution for busy parents.

Traditional single-use disposable diapers aren’t just a waste problem, though—they’re also a health issue. Every detail in single-use diapers is suspect, from the plastic materials to the chemicals used to scent them. (Fragranced diapers! Why!)

These components are linked to endocrine and reproductive disorders, acute skin rashes, and even testicular cancer later in life. This isn’t a shocking fact, as the Consumer Product Safety Commission requires only that diapers be tested for lead—no other chemicals are tested, including carcinogens and endocrine-disrupting chemicals.

After wear, these diapers are collected alongside your municipal trash, tossed into the bins with the rest of your waste, pushing up the lid on your bins every week.

The moment that REDYPER™ founder Tony Patron and his business partner noticed their bins were overfilled each week with plastic diapers, was the moment they knew something needed to change.

That was the beginning of what eventually became Dyper, a company dedicated to creating safe, high performance, and non-toxic diapers.

Pushing for Change in a Landfill-Bound Industry

In addition to being a new father who cringed at the diaper-filled bags he took out to the trash bin, Patron was also an engineer who was well-poised to solve the problem. Initially, he worked toward a partnership with a similar company that was manufacturing compostable diapers, but the two merged to form Dyper, a new diaper company focused on creating non-toxic, biodegradable diapers that reduce both household and environmental waste.

DYPER’s product team works diligently to ensure that almost all of its product’s components are biodegradable. (Though some technology is not yet available in biodegradable form, such as velcro.) “Our goal is to provide a diaper that performs equally to any other diaper on the market in terms of absorbency, fit, and comfort, and ensuring that we don’t have any skin irritation,” Patron says.

DYPER uses primarily plant-based materials, including US-grown FSC-certified bamboo and eucalyptus fibers. Its viscose bamboo comes from an Oeko-Tex certified supplier, and the brand labels each layer with its specific components to ensure full transparency to conscious parents. The brand’s diapers are Certified USDA BioPreferred 55% Product, and its wipes are a Certified USDA BioPreferred 95% Product.

Its diaper products themselves meet Oeko-Tex standards, and the brand recently obtained the DermaTest 5-Star Certification, which guarantees that the diapers won’t cause any skin reactions.

Aside from using plant-based, compostable materials, DYPER also tests its products using third-party labs to ensure they are non-toxic and compostable.

Plants Over Plastic

The core of DYPER’s mission is “plants over plastic for happy babies.” By choosing plant-based materials without harmful chemical additives, DYPER creates diapers that are free from phthalates, latex, parabens, and other irritants found in common supermarket diapers. The natural fibers are gentler on your baby’s delicate skin. Plus, you can be sure that the materials were responsibly sourced.

DYPER diapers aren’t just better for baby’s skin and the environment. They’re designed to make life easier for parents as well. While made from more than 50% plant based materials, the diapers are also designed to be high performing, preventing leaks and rashes and keeping your baby happy.

The diapers can even be composted through the brand’s optional REDYPER program (depending on availability in your state.) The brand’s “plants over plastic philosophy” extends to its packaging as well, as it uses sustainable materials wherever it can to reduce its impact.

You don’t have to choose between functional diapers and sustainable ones. DYPER has you and your baby covered from every angle.

Make It Easy

DYPER offers subscriptions or one-time purchasing in a wide variety of sizes, and in some areas a weekly or biweekly pickup service for used diapers and wipes. The company partners with regional composting facilities to compost the materials that can be broken down within 14 to 16 weeks, and the rest are removed from the compost and disposed of. REDYPER has diverted over 14 million pounds of waste from landfill as of today.

With DYPER, you’re not just choosing a high-performing diaper; you’re choosing a commitment to sustainability, transparency, and superior baby care.
