DIY Fall Themed Display Under a Glass Cloche | Thrifty Decor Chick http://livelaughlovedo.com/diy-fall-themed-display-under-a-glass-cloche-thrifty-decor-chick/ http://livelaughlovedo.com/diy-fall-themed-display-under-a-glass-cloche-thrifty-decor-chick/#respond Tue, 14 Oct 2025 14:57:44 +0000 http://livelaughlovedo.com/2025/10/14/diy-fall-themed-display-under-a-glass-cloche-thrifty-decor-chick/ [ad_1]

Creating a beautiful fall themed display with lights under a cloche.

I’ve been adding fall decor touches around the house over the past few weeks
and have thoroughly enjoyed the process. Our home feels so warm and cozy!

So much so, I recreated it again this year!

The evergreens mixed in with the fall colors and leaves is unexpected, but I
LOVE how it works together.

When I was selling some items last year, I decided to sell a large glass
cloche that I’ve had in my decor stash forever. I kept second guessing
getting rid of it though, and I’m so glad I did!

After creating this sweet little fall scene under glass, my mind is
swimming with ideas for the upcoming holidays!

This post may contain affiliate links for your convenience.

I may earn a small commission when you make a purchase through links.

For this quick project, I gathered some fall craft supplies like little
pinecones and acorns:

I pulled a bunch of those off of a fall pick from the craft store. (You’ll
want everything to be pretty small.)

The main display under the glass is a small hops arrangement I’ve had for a
while. I added some soft reindeer moss to tuck everything into on this beautiful green platter:

There are no rules when it comes to a seasonal project like this one, and
the possibilities for the decor details are endless!

three foot battery fairy light

The light strand is only three feet long, so the length was perfect for a
small display like this one. I made sure to leave the switch on the outside
of the glass, you can check that out in the video.

It’s SO pretty and feels like a little woodland world under there!:

fall decor under glass cloche

Our glass cloche is about 12 inches tall and nine inches wide, so it’s
pretty large. This would be lovely in a smaller version too! (Hmmm, I may
have to try that out…)

So much fun! Decorating for the seasons should be enjoyable and spark your
creativity — this one was both for me!

Here’s a list of the items I used (or very similar ones):

Just about everything looks better with lights under glass! 🙂

I’ve started shifting our home toward a richer autumn mood, layering textured throws and pillows, refreshing bathrooms  with new towels in deeper tones, and placing vases and fragrant candles throughout the house. Fall-inspired dishware and linens on the table introduce a subtle change of rhythm, while woven baskets and warm accents add depth, creating a refresh that feels both inviting and timeless. The October Forecast – Julia Berolzheimer http://livelaughlovedo.com/the-october-forecast-julia-berolzheimer/ http://livelaughlovedo.com/the-october-forecast-julia-berolzheimer/#respond Thu, 02 Oct 2025 22:04:08 +0000 http://livelaughlovedo.com/2025/10/03/the-october-forecast-julia-berolzheimer/ [ad_1]

It’s our first full fall in the new house, and October already feels full in the best way. I’m excited to experience our first stretch of fall holidays here—prepping for Halloween, hosting a few events, and planning for Thanksgiving. I’ve been working on Halloween decorations this week (taking the girls’ requests into account, of course), and the first room we designed in the house is finally getting prepped. The girls’ rooms are also getting some updates— fresh paint, new window treatments, and rugs.

We kicked off the month with the launch of my Kilte collaboration, which has been such a rewarding project. And now, we’re packing up to head somewhere cooler for the weekend. Here’s a peek at what we’re doing, wearing, buying, and eyeing this month.

What We’re Doing

  • We’re kicking off the month with a trip to England and Ireland for the girls’ fall break— starting in London, then to the countryside, and finally over to Ireland to visit my sister, brother-in-law, and nephew. I can’t wait to explore with the girls and Thomas is running his first marathon in Ireland!
  • Halloween prep is underway. Since this is our first year decorating an almost 200-year-old home, there’s so much more to work with. I ordered 12 of these skeletons to “climb” the front of the house– now I’m just trying to figure out how to actually create it!
  • I ordered the girls’ Halloween costumes a few weeks ago— Pottery Barn always delivers on the princess-fairy-light-up-front. Goldie picked this Fairy Butterfly costume, and Clementine picked two: this purple witch one and this candy fairy one. I always get two— one for school and one for Halloween night. I’ll be matching Clem this year with this cape, a black hat, and a black lace dress.
  • My collection with Kilte launched this week. We hosted a dinner at our house last night to celebrate— it was an entirely new direction for the brand, and I love when collaborations stretch both sides creatively. I’m so proud of how this one came together.
  • Amazon’s Prime Big Deal Days are coming up next week. Here’s what I suggest saving to buy:
  • I’ll be posting a “What I’m Packing” video for England and Ireland later this week on Trade Offs (for paid Substack subscribers).

    What I’m Wearing

  • AEYDE suede boots — packing these for our trip; I already know they’ll be on repeat
  • Hunter Bell faux burgundy skirt — it’s coming with me too
  • Pillbox hat — my first! Still deciding if I can pull it off, but giving it a try in London
  • Cashmere triangle scarf — I have it in both colorways; love the bold pop it adds
  • Maygel Coronel bodysuit — my go-to statement with fall skirts
  • Leopard Print Jeans
  • Jamie Haller penny loafers  these feel like butter on
  • Missoni dress — also coming with me

Blue Plaid Wool Blanket // Chairs, Rug and More Living Room Sources

It’s no secret—I’m a big fan of plaid blankets! There’s just something timeless and homey about them. I recently shared the plaid wool throw I got last year, and since so many of you loved it too, I thought I’d show you another one that caught my eye this season. The colors are so pretty—perfect for fall but it’s versatile enough to keep out year-round.

I also rounded up a few other plaid blankets I have (or have on my wish list!) so you can find one that fits your own home and style.

Whether you drape one over the arm of a chair, fold it at the end of a bed, or keep a stack in a basket by the sofa, plaid blankets are one of those simple layers that instantly make a space feel warmer and more welcoming.

Can you ever have too many cozy plaid throws? I think not.

Frugal and Fabulous: 30+ Fall Decor Ideas on a Budget http://livelaughlovedo.com/frugal-and-fabulous-30-fall-decor-ideas-on-a-budget/ http://livelaughlovedo.com/frugal-and-fabulous-30-fall-decor-ideas-on-a-budget/#respond Fri, 26 Sep 2025 08:19:20 +0000 http://livelaughlovedo.com/2025/09/26/frugal-and-fabulous-30-fall-decor-ideas-on-a-budget/ [ad_1]

It’s fall, and you love to decorate, but you don’t want to break the bank. No worries – fall decor doesn’t have to be expensive. You can have a Pinterest-worthy, fall fabulous home with a few simple pieces that give you a lot of bang for your buck. Whether you’re a DIY lover, a thrift store treasure hunter, or just someone who wants to sprinkle a little autumn magic around the house, this list is packed with chic and budget-friendly ideas.

Let’s fall into fabulous! Grab your favorite pumpkin-spiced drink and your coziest fall blanket as you enjoy this list of stylish and totally doable fall decor ideas.

1. Pinecones in Bowls or Vases

Pinecones are nature’s free decor (you can literally find them outside, depending on where you live). Toss them in a pretty bowl or glass vase, and boom — instant fall decor. Bonus idea: Lightly dust them with cinnamon essential oil for a subtle seasonal scent.

2. Candle Clusters

Group candles of varying heights on a tray. Consider color: Mix in brass or gold holders for a warm glow and orange or deep red candles to amplify the fall feeling. Choose traditional seasonal scents like apple cider, pumpkin spice, or vanilla chai.

3. Cozy Textures Everywhere

Fall is all about being warm and cozy with cooler weather making its way through the season. Layer your space with chunky knit blankets, faux fur throws, and velvety pillows.

4. Acorn Accents

Fill small jars or bowls with acorns (real or faux). They’re small, easy to find, earthy, and perfect for adorning bookshelves, mantles, and coffee tables.

5. Statement Vases with Faux Flowers

Swap out summer blooms for faux or dried fall florals. Features floral colors in burnt orange, mustard yellow, and deep burgundy. Pampas grass and eucalyptus are also great neutral options.

6. DIY Fall Wreath

Grab some floral wire or a wreath frame and add twigs, feathers, faux leaves, and even cinnamon sticks to create a wreath that’s beautiful and uniquely yours. Hang it on your front door or above your mantel.

7. Rustic Centerpiece with Gourds

Create a fabulous fall dining table centerpiece with a mix of mini pumpkins, gourds, and candles. Add a burlap or velvet runner underneath for extra charm.

8. Apple-Inspired Decor

Fill a wooden crate or basket with red and green apples, thoughtfully place faux apples around your home, and use apple-scented essential oils. It’s simple and fresh.

9. Crafty with Cinnamon Sticks

The smell of cinnamon invites warmth and fall feels. Add a little throughout your home by tying cinnamon sticks together with twine and tuck them into your centerpiece or place settings. They smell amazing and look rustic-chic.

10. Pumpkin Spice Everything

Pumpkin spice screams fall. From drinks to scents, it’s everywhere. If you’re a fan, you can affordably add them to your home with candles, hand soaps, oils, and more.

11. Front Door Glow-Up

Add a fall-themed doormat, a wreath, and a few stacked pumpkins to make your entryway feel warm and welcoming.

12. Thrift Store Treasures

Add some character to your decor with vintage brass candlesticks, amber bottles, or old books with warm-toned covers. These cost next to nothing and instantly give your home decor a rustic feel.

13. Layered Textures

Texture doesn’t just stop at bedding, pillows, and cozy blankets. Mix burlap, wood, and metal pieces to create some country charm and make the space feel warm and inviting.

14. Neutral Fall Palette

If your home decor leans more neutral, skip the bright oranges and go for creamy whites, soft browns, and muted greens. It’s on theme and adds a chic touch.

15. Dollar Store DIYs

The local dollar store is a gold mine for DIY fall decor. Start by grabbing faux leaves, mini pumpkins, and glass jars, and get creative. Remember to have a plan before you go in, like choosing colors that match your fall decor theme. You’d be surprised how luxe everything can look with a little creativity.

16. Blanket Ladder Display

Drape your coziest throws over a wooden ladder for a functional and stylish display. Vary it up in texture and color based on your overall decor.

17. Found from Nature

Nature can be our biggest inspiration and gift us free decor. Take walk and gather twigs, leaves, and pine branches. Arrange them in a vase or use them in a DIY garland.

18. Gourd Garland

Gather together mini gourds or faux pumpkins to create a festive garland to hang across your mantel or staircase.

19. Scented Simmer Pot

Fill your home with autumn scents by simmering a pot of apple slices, cinnamon sticks, cloves, and orange peels on the stove. You can do this once a week for a natural, cozy scent that pairs perfectly with your fall decor.

20. Decorative Tray Styling

Use a tray to feature candles, mini pumpkins, and a small vase of fall florals on your coffee table or kitchen island.

21. Budget-Friendly Throw Pillows

Here’s an easy and quick fall decor solution: swap out your pillow covers. With the right measurements, your pillow covers can easily become the perfect fall-inspired accent piece. Look for plaid, velvet, or faux leather and various colors like brown, orange, green, and red.

22. Seasonal Dishes

Display fall-themed mugs or plates on open shelves or in a hutch. It’s a subtle way to bring in the season without investing in too much decor.

23. Mantel Magic

A mantel is the perfect functional space to feature layers of garlands, candles, and seasonal items like mini pumpkins or vintage books. Turn your mantel into a cozy focal point, then sprinkle similar accents throughout your home to create a warm, inviting vibe.

24. Baskets Full of Fall

Fill woven baskets with various textured blankets, florals, and surround them with your favorite guards or pumpkins for a luxurious, lived-in look.

25. Branches and Twigs in Decor

Branches and twigs signify the changing seasons. Place them in a tall vase or use them as part of a centerpiece. Mix in faux sunflowers and eucalyptus in a vintage pitcher or amber bottle for a farmhouse feel.

27. Copper Accents

Copper mugs, trays, or candle holders add warmth and a touch of glam to your fall setup.

28. Feather Fun

Tuck a few feathers into your faux flower arrangements for texture and a touch of whimsy or simply add a few standalone feathers to your favorite vase.

29. Amber Glass

Use amber glass-shaped decor or bottles (which are great as vases or candle holders). They’re moody, chic, and perfect for fall.

30. Essential Oil Diffuser Blends

Fill your home with the scents of fall by adding oils like clove, orange, cinnamon, and cedarwood to your essential oil diffuser.

31. Lantern Love

Place lanterns around your home, surrounded by candles, mini pumpkins, or fairy lights, for a magical glow.

32. Pears as Decor

Keep it super simple by adding faux or real pears to bowls or centerpieces for a fresh, unexpected twist.

If you love fall, these ideas will help you add a few fabulous touches to the warm and cozy season. All you need are a few key pieces to refresh your space with cozy textures, warm colors, and charming details. And don’t worry about breaking the bank, there are so many budget-friendly ways to make your home feel like a luxurious autumn retreat.

So light a pumpkin spice candle, turn on your favorite fall jams, and start decorating!

Simple Fall Decorating Ideas – Southern Hospitality http://livelaughlovedo.com/simple-fall-decorating-ideas-southern-hospitality/ http://livelaughlovedo.com/simple-fall-decorating-ideas-southern-hospitality/#respond Sun, 21 Sep 2025 10:43:12 +0000 http://livelaughlovedo.com/2025/09/21/simple-fall-decorating-ideas-southern-hospitality/ [ad_1]

Fall is here even though the weather doesn’t reflect that at the moment. It’s a bit hot in Georgia at this time, but I did pull out a few of my fall decor items to get the house in the mood for autumn. I don’t go all out with tons of pumpkins and all of that, but I do enjoy a few things around the house that reflect the season.

The living room always gets something on the coffee table, so it’s just a small nod to fall.

I’ve been using my limelight hydrangeas more and more at the end of the summer season, because they dry so well and I love their color at this time of year. A small white faux pumpkin and preserved leaves and a cute blue owl is all that I used with the limelights in a rattan wrapped glass vase.

The console table always gets decorated for the season and so this year I added a fall inspired canvas print that I had that reflects the colors of autumn as well as blues that I love.

I’ve had all of these things for years and I do enjoy getting them out again every year. A pottery vase and pretty bowl with a leaf picks up the colors in the print. I love that little oil painting that I got in Round Top one year. Those faux fall leaves are bright, but I love them.

It’s amazing how cute white faux pumpkins can look under glass on top of a cake plate. That’s a small wreath underneath.

Hello Fall!

The dining room features more limelight hydrangeas in the middle copper glass vase.

I’ve had it for years too as well as the plates and other items on the table. I don’t buy all new, but I do enjoy using what I have.

These Royal Stafford English bird plates are so pretty and really have gorgeous fall colors. I got those years ago at Homegoods.

Simple and pretty!

Looking back to the foyer.

I added another pottery piece that I made years ago filled with pinecones and acorns. Another wrapped raffia vase is filled with faux fall berries.

Even though I don’t go really crazy with fall, it does make me feel ready for the season when I put out a few fall things and the limelight hydrangeas make it easy to do. Thanks for stopping by!

Ideas for how to use beautiful hydrangea stems in your fall decor.

Hydrangeas are one of my absolute favorite flowers, and I think the fall
season is when they are the most beautiful! I’ve used both fresh and
dried hydrangea blooms in my seasonal decor over the years.

This time of year is when they truly shine! Most panicle hydrangeas (more
cone-shaped blooms instead of mop heads) turn a lovely shade of red or pink as
the temps get colder in the autumn months.

Around here, the change from white or green to that blush color is the first
sign that fall is on its way.

I’ve planted so many hydrangea bushes at both this house and our last one.
They are so full and beautiful in our landscaping, but I also love to display
the cut flowers inside throughout the summer and fall.

Just yesterday, as I was decorating the house for the season, I was
contemplating looking for some new faux florals for our front door (say that
three times fast).

And then it hit me…duh! I sometimes forget I have them at my disposal.
🙂

The bonus with this flower is that they are just as pretty when they dry up as
they are freshly cut!

This year I’m using a hanging basket on our front door, and I filled it some
dried blooms for our fall door decor:

Check out my cute creeper in the window. 😂

These large blooms look great just thrown in a basket or bowl as well:
Everett foyer table fall decor

It was the perfect, subtle fall touch.

You don’t need to do anything special to dry your hydrangea blooms. Either
cut and place them in water to enjoy, and then just let the flowers dry out
in the vase:

your convenience.

I may earn a small commission when you make a purchase through links.

Or you can simply cut them and place them wherever, they will obviously dry
out quicker this way.

I placed some smaller stems in a bowl yesterday and they still look fresh
today:

pink green hydrangea blooms in bowl

By tomorrow they will start to dry up. There’s no water in that bowl, just
some moss I had in there from spring.

I tucked the stems into the moss in the bowl:

One of my absolute favorite fall mantels was the simplest:

simple fall mantel hydrangeas

The soft blush and green blooms were particularly striking against the white
backdrop.

These were from a bush at our old house and were gorgeous enough without
going crazy with decor:

green pink hydrangeas glass vase
I have an old glass cloche that I wanted to utilize in our fall decor this
year, so I grabbed some
wet floral foam and cut off a small piece:
cut wet floral foam
And just tucked some smaller stems into the foam. I pushed the whole thing into the cloche and then filled in around the
glass edge with
some soft reindeer moss
hydrangeas under glass cloche

I was worried the wet foam would leave condensation on the inside of the
glass, but so far so good! I’ll be interested to see how long these stay
fresh.

I think these gorgeous flowers are best enjoyed piled high and full!

I love
adding them around the house. They make it look like I did way more work than
I actually did. 🙂
