12 New Ways to Use Vintage Glassware http://livelaughlovedo.com/hobbies-and-crafts/12-new-ways-to-use-vintage-glassware/ http://livelaughlovedo.com/hobbies-and-crafts/12-new-ways-to-use-vintage-glassware/#respond Mon, 29 Sep 2025 16:32:03 +0000 http://livelaughlovedo.com/2025/09/29/12-new-ways-to-use-vintage-glassware/ [ad_1]

From delicate serving pieces to sculptural vases, vintage glassware comes in every color, shape, and style imaginable. Many of the pieces you’ll find in thrift stores or antique shops date back to the Mad Men-era of martinis, old-fashioneds, and formal dinner parties. Or even farther back. While we may not entertain in quite the same way today, vintage glassware can add a whimsical charm and style to day-to-day life. The key is to use them intentionally. (Gone are the days of filling a cabinet with matching sets that only gather dust!)

The good news? These versatile pieces can be used in countless creative ways throughout your home. From bold centerpieces to chic office storage, here are 12 ways to repurpose vintage glassware.

Light Up Your Parties

“I collect small-scale juice glasses and Moroccan tea glasses to use as candle holders for dinner parties and outdoor entertaining,” shares Nashville-based interior designer Jessica Stambaugh.

Cluster them down the center of a table, scatter them along a mantel, or line them up on windowsills for a warm glow.

Rethink Serving Pieces

When entertaining, think beyond how glassware is traditionally used. Footed dessert compotes can double as servers for dips, cheeses, or dried fruit on an appetizer spread. Collins glasses make unexpected parfait cups for layered desserts, while double old-fashioneds become chic vessels for puddings or sundaes.

The key is contrast. “These older pieces come alive when paired with items that feel contemporary,” says Elizabeth Maclennan, a New York City–based prop stylist and art director. Stambaugh agrees, noting that she often juxtaposes textures, letting glass candlesticks (for instance) shine against a solid tablecloth or rustic wooden surface.

Vintage pieces can add instant character to a drinks cabinet or bar cart. “When styling a bar, I often pair vintage glasses with a bright lacquer tray,” Stambaugh notes. Small cups and champagne coupes double as storage for cocktail picks, stirring sticks, and accouterments such as olives and citrus peels.

Bring Beauty to a Vanity or Bathroom

Use small glasses to store makeup brushes, cotton balls, or Q-tips, while wrapped soaps and small hand towels can be grouped in larger footed bowls.

Instead of spirits, fill a carved glass decanter with Epsom salts or bubble bath, or top a vintage bottle with a pump to transform it into a soap dispenser. And if space allows, a glass cake stand makes a pretty display for a collection of perfume bottles.

Organize Your Jewelry

Small crystal dishes and bowls are ideal for corralling rings, cuff links, and other tiny items. For something unexpected, try a vintage deviled egg or relish tray—a midcentury entertaining staple—as a clever way to sort earrings. Larger pieces, like chunky bracelets or statement necklaces, can be stashed in footed bowls or apothecary jars.

Clear Your Office Clutter

Repurposed cups make chic homes for pens, paperclips, and other items around your desk. “Often you’ll find one-off pieces that work beautifully as organizers,” notes Stambaugh. Trays and bowls can be used to sort papers or keep chargers close at hand.

Create an Entryway Catchall

Vintage serving pieces are perfect for holding everyday essentials, such as mail, keys, and the little odds and ends that tend to accumulate by the door. Cluster several pieces together on a table, and make sure to clear it all out regularly to keep clutter at bay.

Create a Living Centerpiece

Repurpose a punch bowl or a large, shallow platter as a plant display. Fill it with potted succulents or ivy, covering the soil with moss.. For a dramatic, illuminated centerpiece, float tealights along with blossoms like dahlias or garden roses.

Use as Seasonal Planters

Certain short-lived spring bulbs, such as fragrant paperwhites, are ideal for planting in vintage bowls. Fill the container with small pebbles and place the bulbs on top, root-side down, with the tip of each bulb exposed. Surround the bulbs with more stones to stabilize them, and add water to the bowl.

Style Champagne Flutes as Bud Vases

Slim flutes can be used as modern bud vases for singular blooms. Spread them down the center of a table and mix shapes that are similar, but not identical, for a collected, artful effect.

Play With Colors and Shapes

“For a curated look, group glassware by color,” suggests Maclennan. Line up milk glass pieces on a mantel or cluster sculptural, jewel-toned shapes on a windowsill so the light filters through.

A single standout piece can also make a big impact in a space. “Handblown glass vases in shades like ruby, pink, or green can bring a lot of charm to an entry table or center table,” says Stambaugh. ”I always look for large and unusual vases for displaying branches, sunflowers, and other big blooms.” She adds that it can be fun to pick a favorite color or style and then add to your collection over time.

Offer Take-Home Favors

The Ganeys

For dinner parties, Maclennan suggests sourcing inexpensive vintage glasses from a thrift store and setting the table with a mix of eclectic shapes and colors. “Each guest can choose their own unique glass for the evening, and at the end of the night, it doubles as a keepsake they can take home.”

Affordable upgrades with major impact.

We may receive a portion of sales if you purchase a product through a link in this article.

Home makeovers don’t have to come with renovation-level price tags. Sometimes all it takes is a clever storage fix, a light that changes the mood, or a small detail that instantly elevates a room. The finds ahead prove that with the right upgrades, you can make every corner feel more organized, styled, and pulled together. From chic organizers that tame the clutter to ambient lighting that transforms a space, these are the budget-friendly picks you’ll wish you discovered sooner.

1A Cloud-Shaped Catch-All Tray For Jewelry & Other Trinkets

If your rings keep migrating to random teacups, this ceramic cloud tray gives them a permanent (and pretty) landing spot. The sculptural shape reads like decor, while the grooved edge keeps tiny pieces from sliding off. Compact, weighty, and easy to wipe clean, it works on a dresser, nightstand, or entry table as a mini catch-all tray.

2A Vintage-Style Candle Warmer That Melts Wax Without An Open Flame

All the fragrance, none of the smoke or soot. This top-down candle warmer melts wax efficiently, with four brightness levels to control scent throw and a two-, four-, or eight-hour timer for set-and-forget coziness. The height adjusts to fit different jar sizes, and it comes with two halogen bulbs — handy for swapping in when you need a refresh.

3A Pair Of Colorful Throw Pillow Covers With Cute Scalloped Edges

Pillow swaps are the easiest way to refresh a room, and this cotton throw cover duo delivers with scalloped details and raised embroidery. The fabric feels soft but sturdy, and concealed zippers keep the look clean. Oeko-Tex certified, they add dimension to sofas, beds, or a reading chair without overwhelming your palette.

4A Rattan Tissue Box Cover For A Small But Impactful Upgrade

Even tissues look intentional with this rattan cover on top. The natural weave adds warmth to a bathroom, bedside table, or desk, and the open-bottom design makes swaps quick. Wipe it down to keep it looking fresh, then let it blend in with baskets, trays, and other textured accents.

5A Set Of Café-Style String Lights That Are Waterproof & Dimmable

Bring the bistro glow to the backyard (or balcony) with these warm-white LED string lights. Waterproof, shatterproof, and connectable end-to-end, they scale from small patios to pergolas without a fuss. Choose from six different lengths, ranging from 25 to 200 feet.

6A Set Of Ginkgo-Inspired Knobs That’ll Make Your Dresser Look 10x More Expensive

That thrifted dresser you’ve been meaning to upgrade? These sculptural, ginkgo-leaf pull handles are the fastest facelift. The polished metal finish looks so elevated, they install in minutes, and the small swap makes cabinets and drawers look 10 times more expensive.

7A Vintage-Inspired Mushroom Light That Doubles As A Sculptural Accent

Part lamp, part object, this hand-blown, Murano-style mushroom lamp brings instant charm to a nightstand or shelf. Turn the dimmer up for reading or down for a soft, ambient glow that flatters the whole room. Even off, the swirled glass looks like a curated find.

8A Gorgeous Floral Mat That Stays Put In High-Traffic Spots

Entryways and kitchens get a lot of action; this low-pile, faux-wool rug can handle it. The nonslip backing helps it stay put, while the pretty floral pattern adds cheer and cleverly disguises everyday debris. When spills happen, toss it in the wash and it comes back looking fresh.

9A Faux-Marble Caddy For A More Organized Bathroom Counter

Countertop chaos, meet your match. With five compartments, this resin organizer corrals toothbrushes, toothpaste, razors, and makeup brushes in one tidy footprint. The faux-marble effect looks sleek, and the silicone pads help it stay put and dry on damp counters.

10A Faux-Leather Tray For Your Ottoman Or Coffee Table

Style and function in one move: this coffee table tray corrals remotes, candles, and coasters while looking downright polished. Gold handles make it easy to pass cocktails or breakfast in bed, and the oversized shape anchors a coffee table vignette. It even arrives boxed for gifting, in case you’re building a housewarming stash.

11A Duo Of Apothecary Jars With Chic Bamboo Lids

Transparent canisters that actually earn their counter space: this set keeps cotton rounds and swabs visible, clean, and easy to grab. One jar features a U-shaped cutout for quick pull-through access. Lightweight but durable, the clear bodies pair with sealed bamboo lids for a clean, spa-adjacent look that also tells you when it’s time to restock.

12A Scallop-Edge Bath Mat That Soaks Up Splashes Fast

Stylish and functional, this microfiber bath mat blends a plush texture with a quick-dry performance. The scalloped edge is an incredibly cute touch, while the TPR backing helps it stay put on tile to reduce slips. Toss it in the wash to refresh; the locked edging minimizes shedding so it keeps its shape and texture.

13A Countertop Cookbook Organizer That Clears The Chaos

Four generously sized slots keep cookbooks, binders, and recipe cards upright and within reach — no more losing your place under a mixing bowl. Assembly is literally a snap: slide the dividers into the base and you’re done in under a minute. Made from renewable bamboo with a clear lacquer finish, this book organizer is sturdy enough for the kitchen but sleek enough to moonlight in an office or craft corner.

14A Deep, Adjustable Utensil Tray That Puts An End To The Junk Drawer

Goodbye, rummaging — this expandable tray adjusts to fit most drawers, with deep walls that keep spatulas and ladles from jumping lanes. Seven to nine compartments give every gadget a home, from flatware to that elusive corkscrew. Crafted from durable bamboo, it’s a tidy upgrade for kitchens that also cleans up office drawers and vanity catch-alls.

15A 16-Ounce Water Carafe That Comes With A Matching Cup

Part function, part flourish: the inverted tumbler seals the carafe to keep water dust-free overnight, then flips for a midnight sip without leaving the bed. The cut-crystal Dublin pattern catches light beautifully and looks elegant on a nightstand or bar. Dishwasher-safe and just 7.5 inches tall, it’s as practical as it is giftable.

16A Vintage-Style Night Light With A Dusk-To-Dawn Sensor

Ambient glow without the guesswork: the light-sensing feature switches on at dusk and off at dawn, so halls and entryways are lit only when needed. The Edison-inspired look adds a little style to the safety lighting brief, and the long-life LED stays cool while you sleep. Bonus: the low-profile design keeps the top outlet usable.

17Velvet Curtains That Look So Much More Expensive Than They Are

If you want drama and function, this lined velvet panel provides both: the weighted hem drapes beautifully while blocking roughly 75 to 80% of incoming light. Choose your hardware style — rod pocket, back tabs, or rings — and get that tailored, designer look without the custom lead time. They bring the same drama you’d expect from made-to-measure, minus the wait time.

18A Set Of Low-Profile Corner Grippers For Flat, Trip-Free Rugs

Wrinkled corners and upturned edges are no match for these flexible V-shaped grippers. They adhere to the rug, not the floor, for a secure hold that won’t leave residue on wood or tile. The slim design disappears under runners and doormats, and the weatherproof adhesive stands up to entryways and patios alike.

19A Rechargeable Cordless Lamp For Dinner Tables & Patios

Dinner on the balcony, reading on the sofa: this rechargeable lamp brings the light to you with three color temperatures and touch-hold dimming. The compact profile slips onto small tables, while the weighted base and soft pads protect surfaces. Charge it up and you’ll get up to eight hours of glow without a cord in sight.

20A Playful Checkered Towel Set That Makes Cleaning Up More Fun

This set of four cotton towels is as practical as it is cheerful, with each in a different checkered color so no one grabs the wrong one. The terry weave is soft, absorbent, and reinforced at the edges so they hold up to daily washing. Whether they’re in the kitchen, bathroom, or gym bag, they’re the kind of multipurpose basics you’ll reach for constantly.

21An Adhesive Cord Organizer That Keeps Wires In Place

Cables snaking across your desk? These adhesive clips corral everything from chargers to gaming cords with a simple peel-and-stick function. The set includes 28 clips in multiple configurations, so you can set up a charging station, manage a PC setup, or even hide cords under a nightstand. They’re a small fix that makes your desk (and brain) feel instantly clearer.

22A Toile Cotton Pillow Cover That Adds Vintage Charm

French farmhouse vibes without the flea market hunt: this toile pillow cover slips over any standard insert. The 100% cotton fabric is breathable and soft, while a hidden zipper keeps the look seamless. It’s an easy way to layer a little old-world charm onto a bed, sofa, or reading nook.

23A 5-Piece Frame Set That’s Perfect For Gallery Walls

Turn a blank wall into a gallery in minutes with this set of five frames. Each can hold an 8-by-10 photo or a 5-by-7 photo with the included mat, and they can hang both vertically or horizontally to suit your layout. Lightweight but sturdy with a clear plastic cover, they keep art safe without adding bulk.

24An Ultra-Thin Outlet Concealer That Hides Plugs & Cords

Tired of bulky plugs ruining your backsplash? This ultra-thin concealer hugs the wall so outlets and cords blend right in. It powers appliances up to 3 feet apart, with adhesive cord guides to keep wires tucked neatly out of sight. Bonus: it doubles the usable outlets with two discreet power strips.

25A Velvet Accent Stool That Adds Seating Without Taking Up Much Space

This velvet stool works as a vanity seat, a footrest, or a spot to drop a tray. The plush cushion sits on three sturdy gold-tone legs, bringing polish to even a small space. Lightweight and compact, it tucks neatly beside a sofa or bed — functional, stylish, and easy to move wherever you need it.

26A Bundle Of Faux Olive Branches That Look Like The Real Deal

A vase of faux stems can make a room feel styled in seconds, and these 28-inch olive branches pass for the real thing at a glance. The leaves have natural-looking variation, and the foam olives give just enough detail. Use all five in a tall vase, or repurpose them into a DIY wreath or centerpiece.

27An In-Drawer Knife Block That Cuts Down On Countertop Clutter

Instead of a bulky countertop block, this bamboo insert keeps knives stored flat in a drawer with blades facing down for safety. It fits up to 13 knives of different shapes and keeps edges sharp by preventing clashing. The slim profile saves counter space while keeping tools accessible.

28A TV Backlight That’ll Take Movie Nights To The Next Level

These LED strips create an instant theater feel while easing eye strain during late-night screen time. The USB-powered design is simple to install, and the included remote lets you shift through 15 colors and 10 brightness levels. Stick them on the back of a monitor or TV up to 24 inches to add atmosphere and depth.

29A High-Pressure Rainfall Showerhead That Installs In Minutes

Transform your daily rinse into a spa-level downpour with this high-pressure rainfall shower head. Ninety self-cleaning nozzles keep water flowing evenly, while the ABS chrome finish resists rust and limescale buildup. Installation takes minutes with no tools required — and it comes with Teflon tape and a filter, so you’re set from the start.

30A Motion-Sensor Stair Light That Keeps You From Tripping At Night

No more fumbling in the dark — these wireless LEDs click on the moment they sense motion within 10 feet. The warm glow is just enough to guide your steps without jolting you awake, and they shut off automatically after 30 seconds to save battery life. Stick them on with tape or screws and you’ve got safer stairs in minutes.

31Lavender-Scented Drawer Liners For Clothes That Always Smell Fresh

Slip these damask liners into drawers and closets, and your clothes get a subtle lavender scent that lingers between laundry days. The non-adhesive paper can be trimmed to fit anywhere, adding both fragrance and a touch of pattern. Packaged in a keepsake box, they make even the most ordinary storage feel considered.

32A Sunset Projector That Gives You Golden Hour 24/7

This projector lamp casts a wash of golden light across walls and ceilings, turning any room into golden hour on demand. Rotate the head to change the halo’s size and angle, whether you want a soft glow for winding down or a dramatic backdrop for photos. Plug it in with USB and you’ve got instant mood lighting that makes every corner feel cinematic.

33A Nonslip Rug Runner That Stays Flat In Busy Hallways

Busy hallways demand a rug that won’t budge, and this vintage-inspired runner delivers. The nonslip backing keeps corners flat, while the low-pile design shrugs off crumbs and pet hair. And when life happens, just toss it in the wash and it’s back to looking fresh.

34A Clear Record Stand That Turns Your Collection Into A Display

Your records deserve better than a dusty crate — this clear storage stand turns them into the centerpiece. It keeps up to 50 LPs upright and easy to flip through, with a sturdy, shatter-resistant frame that looks sleek on a shelf. Minimal, modern, and satisfying, it makes your collection feel like part of the room.

35A Gold Tension Rod That Adds A Luxe Touch To Your Shower

Skip the power tools — this spring-loaded shower rod locks firmly in place with oversized rubber ends that grip walls without slipping. The gold finish looks elevated, while the rust-resistant coating holds up to steamy bathrooms. It supports up to 30 pounds, so you can hang heavy curtains or even use it as a quick divider.

36A Set Of Faux Hydrangeas That Look Incredibly Realistic

These latex-petal hydrangeas have a velvety feel and realistic texture that rivals the real thing. Each 21-inch stem can be bent or trimmed to fit different vases, so you can create arrangements that feel full without constant upkeep. Use them as centerpieces, wedding decor, or everyday accents that never wilt.

37A Morris-Inspired Switch Plate That Turns A Blank Wall Into A Design Moment

Instead of plain plastic, this decorative light plate adds a William Morris–inspired print to one of the smallest but most visible details in a room. Made from durable thermoplastic, it resists scratches and cleans with a quick wipe. It’s the kind of subtle upgrade that makes even light switches feel intentional.

38A Bamboo Bag Organizer That’ll Finally Tidy Up *That* Drawer

Snack bags, sandwich bags, and freezer bags all get a designated spot in this bamboo organizer box, so no more digging through torn cardboard boxes. It can sit in a drawer or mount on the wall, and the back opens for easy refills. Labeled compartments keep everything neat and easy to grab.

39A Solar Deck Light Set That Brightens Paths Automatically

These compact LEDs charge by day and click on at dusk, adding a warm, subtle glow to stairs, decks, and fences. The waterproof housing stands up to rain and snow, so you don’t have to think twice about weather. With 16 in a pack, you can line a walkway or outline a balcony in one go.

40Moss Accent Balls That Add Instant Greenery Without The Maintenance

These preserved moss balls bring a pop of green to bowls, trays, and centerpieces without ever needing water. Toss them into a decorative dish or scatter them across a mantel for texture that feels fresh year-round. They’re lightweight, versatile, and give any arrangement a natural, calming touch — no upkeep required.

41A Soft Cotton Rope Basket That Hides Clutter In Style

Blankets, toys, and laundry all disappear into this oversized rope basket that looks chic enough to leave out in the living room. Made from 100% cotton, it’s soft, sturdy, and spacious. Neutral tones blend with any decor, and the flexible structure makes it easy to fold down or reshape.

42Glass Organizer Jars For Laundry Essentials & More

Ditch the messy detergent boxes and decant pods or powders into these clear glass jars with sleek bamboo lids. The wide mouth makes scooping easy, while the included waterproof labels keep everything clearly marked. They add a minimalist touch to laundry shelves, turning even the most functional corner into something photo-ready.

43A Vertical Rack That Keeps Stanley & YETI Lids Neatly Stacked

No more stacks of loose tumbler lids sliding around cabinets — this vertical lid organizer keeps them upright, neat, and easy to grab. Designed to fit Stanley, YETI, and Hydro Flask lids, it works without hardware or tools and sits right on a shelf. The durable steel frame is stable and sleek, giving your collection order (and a little display factor).

44A Mold & Mildew Fix That Doesn’t Require Scrubbing

Scrubbing grout can feel like an endless (and tiring) task. This thick gel clings to tiles, sealant, and sink edges, lifting stains while you sleep. In the morning, a quick wipe is all it takes — no elbow grease, no endless scrubbing, just a cleaner bathroom with way less effort. Bonus: the formula works on sinks, tubs, and stainless steel too, so you can tackle multiple problem spots with one bottle.

45A Portable Lantern Speaker That Creates Instant Ambience

This wireless speaker does more than play music — it flickers like a torch with 96 LEDs for a realistic flame effect. The waterproof build makes it perfect for patios, pool decks, or camping trips, while Bluetooth 5.1 ensures quick pairing. With hours of playtime and a carrying handle, stake, and hook included, it’s equally handy as a lantern, night light, or atmosphere booster.

46A Gold-Framed Print That Adds Vintage Charm To Small Spaces

Even the smallest wall can feel intentional with this vintage-inspired wildflower print. The gold frame adds a polished finish, while the scratch-resistant canvas and fade-proof inks keep it looking sharp over time. At just under 10 by 12 inches, it’s perfectly sized for bathrooms, bedrooms, or gallery walls.

47A Stick-On Light Strip That Brightens Shelves & Pantries

If your cabinets or pantry feel like dark caves, this LED strip brightens shelves instantly with warm, even light. The adhesive backing makes setup quick, and the slim design hides out of sight until you switch it on. With 3 feet of light per strip and a pack of three included, you can transform multiple spots at once.

48A Spinning Organizer That Makes Dining Tables Feel Professionally Styled

This oak turntable makes it easy to grab condiments, spices, or snacks without stretching across the table. The 360-degree spin glides smoothly on steel ball bearings, and the natural wood finish looks warm enough to double as decor. Sturdy enough for heavy jars yet compact for countertops, it’s a classic upgrade that’s as practical as it is pretty.

49A Durable Metal Organizer That Extends The Life Of Veggies

Potatoes, onions, and garlic get their own dedicated bins with this three-piece storage set, each with ventilation holes to prevent moisture and spoilage. The stackable design maximizes cabinet or pantry space, while bamboo lids and labeled fronts keep things organized and easy to grab.

50A Wall Plate With LEDs That Turns On Automatically At Dusk

This outlet cover doubles as a night light, with built-in LEDs that click on at dusk and off at dawn. It installs in seconds — no wiring or batteries needed — and frees up plugs you’d otherwise lose to a bulky night light. Perfect for bathrooms, kitchens, or hallways, it adds subtle light exactly where you need it.

51A Kitchen Counter Basket That Doubles As Pantry Storage

These wire baskets give your produce and pantry items a breathable home, keeping onions, potatoes, and fruit fresher longer. The stackable design maximizes counter or cabinet space, while the wood lid makes them look styled enough to leave out. Nonslip feet add stability, and the whole setup folds down when not in use.

52A Stackable Holder That Keeps Oversized Tumblers From Hogging The Shelf

Stanleys, YETIs, Hydro Flasks — those giant tumblers don’t exactly play nicely in a cabinet. This stackable holder corrals them neatly, keeping bottles upright and easy to grab without the usual wobble. The clear, BPA-free design blends into any pantry or fridge setup, so your collection looks organized instead of overwhelming.

53A Scallop-Edge Basket That Elevates Open Bathroom Shelving

This handwoven paper rope basket is as pretty as it is practical, with scalloped edging that makes storage look intentional. Sized for toilet paper, cleaning supplies, or beauty products, it tucks onto open shelving or sits neatly by the tub. Wooden handles make it easy to move from room to room, and the recycled material adds eco-friendly appeal.

54A Set Of Bamboo-Topped Canisters That Stop Ingredients From Going Stale

Flour, sugar, pasta, or coffee beans — this seven-piece jar set keeps pantry goods neatly sealed and visible. The bamboo lids have silicone rings to lock out air and moisture, so ingredients stay fresh longer. With their clean, uniform look, the jars turn pantry shelves or counters into a display-worthy setup you’ll actually want to show off.

55A Waterproof Lantern Set That Lights Patios Without Wires

These metal solar lanterns give patios, porches, and pathways a cozy glow for up to 12 hours on a full charge. The vintage-inspired design casts patterned light that feels warm and inviting, while the IP65 waterproof build handles rain or snow. Hang them from a hook or tree branch and enjoy an effortless evening ambience.

56A Wall Rack That Will Finally Tame The Broom Closet Chaos

This wall-mounted organizer gives brooms, mops, and even rakes a secure spot, thanks to spring-loaded grips and extra hooks. With 11 storage slots total, it clears floor space while keeping tools in reach. Weatherproof and strong enough to hold up to 35 pounds, it works just as well in a garage or shed as it does in a kitchen.

57A Pull-Out Organizer That Makes Under-Sink Storage More Functional

Under-sink chaos meets its match with these two-tier organizers that slide out for easy access. Clear drawers and movable dividers keep everything from skin care to spices neatly separated, so nothing gets buried. Stackable and sturdy, they adapt to bathrooms, kitchens, or pantries to double your storage without wasting an inch.

58A Pet Hair Remover That Lifts Embedded Fur In One Swipe

Sticky rollers and vacuums can only do so much — this reusable scraper grabs the fur that’s buried deep in fabric. Glide it across couches, rugs, or car seats and watch clumps of hair lift with a single swipe. Infinitely reusable and battery-free, it’s the eco-friendly (and oddly satisfying) fix every pet parent needs.

59A Set Of Candle Holders That Add Drama To Dinner Parties

Nothing sets the mood like candlelight, and this trio makes it feel styled, not fussy. The matte black finish adds drama, while weighted bases keep them steady. Cluster them on a table or mantel, pop in real or LED tapers, and let them do the ambiance work for you.

60A Spin Scrubber That Tackles Grime Without The Backache

Trade elbow grease for a motorized boost: this spin scrubber powers through soap scum, grout, and tub rings with minimal effort. Six interchangeable heads handle every surface, while two speeds let you switch from light cleanups to deep scrubbing. Lightweight, waterproof, and rechargeable, it gives you up to three hours of cleaning power per charge — no sore wrists required.

8 Smart Ways to Use the Space Above Your Refrigerator http://livelaughlovedo.com/hobbies-and-crafts/8-smart-ways-to-use-the-space-above-your-refrigerator/ http://livelaughlovedo.com/hobbies-and-crafts/8-smart-ways-to-use-the-space-above-your-refrigerator/#respond Wed, 24 Sep 2025 06:12:15 +0000 http://livelaughlovedo.com/2025/09/24/8-smart-ways-to-use-the-space-above-your-refrigerator/ [ad_1]

There are parts of a home that are easy to forget about, like the back of your closet or the space above your refrigerator. However, that extra bit of real estate on top of your fridge can go a long way—if you know how to use it.

From vase displays to coffee bars, there are numerous ways to transform this often-neglected area into a delightful moment. Read on for eight clever ideas that experts recommend for a little extra storage.

Make a Coffee Bar (or a Regular One)

Don’t have space for a wet bar or coffee station? You can always access your favorite beverages from the top of the fridge.

“Use decorative bins to store coffee supplies, tea tins, or cocktail goodies,” says Jamie Milne, recipe developer and founder of Everything Delish. “This turns the space into a little extension of your bar or morning routine corner.”

And if you enjoy entertaining, you can turn the space into a mini bar by displaying bottles, cocktail mixers, or sparkling water in clear boxes. “It’s an easy way to make the space both functional and eye-catching,” Milne adds.

Keep Things Out of Reach

Professional organizer MaryJo Monroe’s clients enjoy using the top of a fridge as a keep-out-of-reach space for children. This can include candy, alcohol, or other items you don’t want kids to be able to access.

Smaller items like candy can easily be corralled together into a decorative basket to keep them looking tidy, Monroe says. “If you don’t want those things to be very visible, then choose a basket, bin, or box that’s the same color as your fridge or cabinetry.”

Curate a Cookbook Library

Create a handy library by styling the spot above your fridge with your go-to cookbooks, “or even baskets that hold recipe cards, aprons, or table linens,” Milne says.

“It’s easy access when you’re cooking, and it doubles as décor,” she adds. “When it comes to kitchen storage, I’m all about functionality, and keeping the things you use most within reach.”

Try organizing your cookbooks by color. “It’s such a simple trick that instantly makes your kitchen pop!” Milne says.

Display Tall Items

This surface can be used to create a mini vignette where you can display tall pottery and other trinkets.

“A cool vase with a mini frame painting can look chic,” says interior designer Brittny Button. “Keep in mind it’s warmer from the heat of the running fridge. So candles, or anything that melts, aren’t the best choice.”

Create a To-Be-Recycled Area

Have schoolwork, artwork, or coloring pages piling up? Sort through and keep your favorites, and place a nondescript bowl or bag on top of your fridge to hold the papers you don’t plan on keeping. Monroe used this technique with her son.

“If my son didn’t ask for the piece of artwork or schoolwork after three months, I threw the whole bag in the recycling can,” she says. “This way, I avoided the daily power struggle with my son over every single piece of paper he brought home.”

Store Oversized Items

Whether a large fan or jumbo serving bowls for pasta and salads—big things can be a hassle to store. Fortunately, the top of a fridge can solve your woes, as long as you stow them with intention.

“I have three larger bowls [that] I’ve placed above the fridge as they’re rarely used,” Button says. “I still style them to look curated, and I ensure that the bowl in the back is placed on something higher to create a triangle with height differentiation.”

Dry Herbs and Vegetables

If you need to leave produce out to dry for several days, you can use the refrigerator’s top as a drying spot, taking advantage of the appliance’s heat and airflow.

Place them on a sheet of paper in a basket tray or on a sheet pan on top of the fridge in a single layer, and cover them with a paper towel or tea towel to dry before putting them into long-term storage, Monroe says.

Protect China

Delicate serving trays or antique china that won’t fit into your cabinets aren’t a lost cause. If you have open shelving above your refrigerator, this is the perfect place to keep them on display in an area that is rarely disturbed. No shelves? You can also use baskets, and, as Monroe recommends, wrap china pieces in a towel for protection and stash them on top of your fridge.

How To Nail the Nancy Meyers Aesthetic in Your Own Dining Room http://livelaughlovedo.com/food-and-drink/how-to-nail-the-nancy-meyers-aesthetic-in-your-own-dining-room/ http://livelaughlovedo.com/food-and-drink/how-to-nail-the-nancy-meyers-aesthetic-in-your-own-dining-room/#respond Tue, 23 Sep 2025 20:45:05 +0000 http://livelaughlovedo.com/2025/09/24/how-to-nail-the-nancy-meyers-aesthetic-in-your-own-dining-room/ [ad_1]

Situated on the Pacific shoreline just a few minute’s walk (or bike ride) from the historic Santa Monica pier, Shutters on the Beach offers a breath of fresh sea air from LA’s see-and-be-seen scene. Linen, wicker, and toile de Jouy replace the city’s usual flashy neon and leather. (The leather in the hotel’s cozy lobby is more library than rock concert—warm and worn.) A color palette of soft blues, creams, and sand transports you to Cape Cod… without losing that classic California cool atmosphere.

This Nancy Meyers aesthetic and “make yourself at home” vibe is all very deliberate, and it’s one that designer Amy Kehoe, co-founder of interior design studio Nickey Kehoe, was eager to embrace when she was tasked with refurbishing Shutters’ lobby in anticipation of Santa Monica’s 150th birthday, which the property will be celebrating all of 2025 with a special cocktail menu that nods to each decade of the city’s history.

“Shutters on the Beach has always been a beloved, sun-washed meeting place by the ocean, and with that comes a responsibility. Our approach was never to reinvent, but to carefully evolve what people already loved,” says Kehoe. “We wanted the lobby, or as it’s called, the Living Room, to feel like the heart of a well-loved coastal home, one that greets you with warmth and familiarity the moment you arrive.”

The key to nailing this look without veering into kitsch, says Kehoe, is to establish a foundation with color and texture, then add in unique items that reflect your personal style. “At Shutters, we layered a fresh base palette of ivory and tan, brought in rich mahogany as a subtle nod to the East Coast, and then combined vintage finds with custom pieces to create a sense of something collected over time,” she says. “For those shopping for their own homes, I always recommend a similar approach: Start with a few classic, well-made anchor pieces, then mix in vintage finds or something handmade to give the room personality and depth.”

Ready to embrace your inner (chic) coastal grandma? Kehoe shares how you can achieve an airy, welcoming ambiance in your own kitchen, dining room, or sitting room.

Go for glow

“Lighting is everything,” says Kehoe. To set the right mood in the Shutters Living Room, Keyhoe says she doubled the number of pendant lights in the room and introduced gilded sconces that give off a warm glow.

How to Style a Couch So It Looks Fancy — Even on a Budget http://livelaughlovedo.com/home-decor/how-to-style-a-couch-so-it-looks-fancy-even-on-a-budget/ http://livelaughlovedo.com/home-decor/how-to-style-a-couch-so-it-looks-fancy-even-on-a-budget/#respond Mon, 14 Jul 2025 13:52:57 +0000 http://livelaughlovedo.com/2025/07/14/how-to-style-a-couch-so-it-looks-fancy-even-on-a-budget/ [ad_1]

Key Points

  • Add color, pattern, and texture to your couch by layering throw pillows and blankets.
  • Reupholster furniture with good bones for a custom look.
  • Purchase or DIY a slipcover to upgrade your upholstery for less.

Even an inexpensive sofa is likely the most costly piece of furniture in your living room. When replacing it isn’t an option, there are a number of simple upgrades to make a budget-friendly couch look more high-end.

Use a Slipcover

A Beautiful Mess

Give a lackluster couch with worn upholstery a new look with a slipcover. Swapping slipcovers seasonally is an affordable way to refresh your decor without buying new furniture.

Choose a low-maintenance stretch slipcover or a linen slipcover with a loosely tailored fit for an effortless European feel.

Where to Buy a Slipcover

You can source affordable slipcovers online. IKEA sells slipcovers for its line of couches, and companies like Bemz and Comfort Works specialize in making custom slipcovers with more style options.

Drape It With a Drop Cloth

Give your living room the air of a summer cottage that’s been closed up for the winter by simply draping your sofa with fabric. Use a cotton canvas drop cloth for an affordable and neutral base, then layer it with throw pillows, a colorful quilt, or a large throw blanket over the back of the couch.

Wrap Seat Cushions

If your couch has removable back or seat cushions that have faded with time, wrap them in fresh fabric. Choose a color that is complementary but with enough contrast so that you don’t have to worry about matching fabric on the body of the couch.

Style With Throw Pillows

Never underestimate the power of throw pillows to give a plain couch a more elevated look. Choose removable covers that are easy to clean, and allow you to change the look periodically without having to store extra pillows.

Select colorful or patterned throw pillow covers to add contrast with couch upholstery. Luxe fabrics like velvet and silk and details like tufting, tassels, and piping will make your sofa look more expensive.

Mix and Match

Add visual interest by choosing throw pillows with a mix of shapes, sizes, and materials rather than a matching pair. Or use the rule of thirds and pair matching square pillows with a round or rectangular shape in a contrasting color or texture.

Add a Textural Throw Blanket

Lift the look of your couch with a textural throw blanket. Think fluffy real or faux sheepskin, a chunky knit, a Moroccan wool blanket edged with pom poms, or cozy cashmere. Drape your blanket nonchalantly on the arm of your couch or sectional for a more casual and inviting look rather than neatly folding it up.

Renovate Sofa Legs

If your couch has visible legs that aren’t as shapely as you would like, give it a more custom look by swapping them out for something more stylish, like turned wood. Or refinish existing legs that are scuffed or faded with new paint or stain.

Embellish With Trim

Kate Marker Interiors

Personalize a generic couch with custom embellishments. Add black piping to the edges of white seat cushions, or nail head details to give upholstery a sophisticated look. Go retro with a tasseled skirt around the bottom edge of a tufted thrift store sofa for a cozy cottage feel.

Refill Couch Cushions

Sofa cushions can lose volume over time. Plump up loose cushions manually, add filler to removable cushions, or replace foam seating for a newer look and a more comfortable feel.

Reupholster It

House Nine Design Studio

If your couch has nice lines, a solid wood frame, and intact springs, consider reupholstering it. This advice works best for vintage hand-me-downs that were well-constructed but look dated because of their upholstery style or condition, or those sourced secondhand at thrift stores or yard sales that are worth the effort and expense to refurbish.
