Megan Thee Stallion knows a thing or two about a bangin’ bikini — she created her own Hot Girl Summer swimwear line, after all. But beyond her entrepreneurial pursuits, the “Savage” rapper is also the biggest enthusiast of sexy swimsuits there is. Her go-to swim style ranges from iconic classics to more inventive takes, and her most recent printed micro bikini certainly fell in the latter category.

Meg’s Denim Print Bikini

Usually, wet denim is anything but appealing, but Megan makes it work. In a July 9 Instagram post, the rapper donned a micro bikini in a sage green denim print, complete with seam lines running down the center of the cups, and screen-printed belt loops and a button on the bottoms.

The string bottoms tied at the hips, and the tiny top, behind her neck, revealing plenty of underboob in classic Hot Girl form. She paired the look with a set of gold cuff bracelets, and a necklace with a shining gold beetle pendant.

More Unique Swim

Megan has a penchant for swimwear featuring unique, unexpected details. But she also knows how to elevate a basic bikini. While in Fiji for her guest spot on Love Island USA, Meg took to the beach to prove her vacation dressing prowess.

In a June 20 Instagram post, the rapper brought a simple red string bikini to a whole new level with her intricate cover up. She wore a red crochet bra top, dripping in blue and green gemstones, paired with a screen-printed mesh corset and ruched mini shorts in a mix of psychedelic patterns.

The fun continued with Megan’s funky accessories. For jewelry, she chose a mismatched set of red and turquoise bangle bracelets and chunky light brown hoops. She wore a pair of sandals with a colorful striped platform and a see-through, curled heel, and topped the look off with a giant straw sun hat.

We’ve had Brat Summer and Feral Girl Summer, but Megan Thee Stallion is here to remind you that Hot Girl Summer is forever. The catchphrase, coined by the three-time Grammy Award-winning artist in 2019, has stood the test of time. Now, you can channel your own inner hottie all summer long thanks to her latest venture: Hot Girl Swim. When it comes to celebrity brands, this one just makes sense: When Megan isn’t in the studio, gracing the red carpet, getting snatched in the gym or advocating for mental health, the singer can be found poolside and “driving the boat” on the most scenic tropical islands.

While writing music flows naturally for Megan, designing swimwear was a new challenge—one she was determined to perfect. “It’s so different than creating music and so different than coming out with concepts for music videos,” she tells Byrdie. “There’s so many things to consider when you put [these pieces] on different types of bodies. This is my first time doing this and now I feel like, Okay, this is exactly what I need to do, this is how I can get better, this is what I want to see in the future, but I feel like my first go around was pretty good.”

The Inspiration

“I really just wanted to let the hotties wear things that I wear all the time,” she explains. “I feel like Hot Girl Summer definitely needed a uniform, so then obviously creating the swimwear brand was on brand—it was just the summertime Megan Thee Stallion wardrobe.”

The collection, which she made in partnership with Walmart, includes 28 pieces spanning swim and coverups. The suits are full of plenty of Megan-approved details like bright colors, Y2K-inspired sparkle, and sexy cut-outs.

“When I first started creating Hot Girl Swim, I was traveling a lot so I was sitting in all my hotel rooms and I was sketching out all these ideas going back-and-forth with Walmart about what was approved, what was not approved, how much more fabric I need to add to the butt area,” Megan says of the design process. “It was so crazy to see this come to life, because usually, I’m used to writing songs and I’m going to the studio and then listening to it and then, you know, like that’s my little baby. But this is so different because I drew something and watched it come to life and now I’m just so excited to continue doing this.”

How to Have a Hot Girl Summer

What, exactly is Hot Girl Summer? Allow Megan to explain. “Hot Girl Summer is Megan Thee Stallion,” she says. “This is my thing. It’s definitely just about being you, doing you unapologeticly, having a great time. Just doing what you want to do and not caring what anybody else thinks about it and having a blast while doing it. You can be a Hot Girl and be a nurse. You can be a Hot Girl and be a student, you can be a Hot Girl and be a lawyer, you can be a Hot Girl and be anything.”

As for her tips on how to dress for a hot girl summer, “always wear what’s comfortable on your body,” Megan instructs. “Don’t do it because you’re trying to be sexy for somebody else or don’t do it because it’s a trend right now. Do what makes you look good and what feels good and I bet you it turns into a trend everybody will follow.”

My Review

To know me is to know that I love a beach vacation and finding the best resort and swimwear is a personality trait at this point. When the hit song Hot Girl Summer released in summer 2019, my friends and I blasted it on repeat in the car, at BBQs, and of course at pool parties, so it’s only right that Thee Hot Girl Coach herself launched a swim collection that hotties across the globe can wear this summer and beyond. I was fortunate enough to have tested the collection on a recent trip to Cabo, and I was very impressed. This was my first time trying swimwear from Walmart so I didn’t know what to expect but, I can confidently say that I am a fan of this collection. From bikinis to one pieces with cool cut-outs, there’s something for everyone and the price point can’t be beat.

This purple bikini is my favorite of the entire collection. I love the nostalgic details like the pink butterfly charms, and the bottoms offer the perfect amount of coverage. It’s your classic triangle bikini with a cool twist.

Hot Girl Summer by Megan Thee Stallion Swim Tee

This collection is full of vibrant pieces that compliment my complexion, like this hot pink swim crop top. It’s very similar to a rash guard and can be worn in the water, but I will be styling it with a pair of denim shorts and wearing it to summer barbecues and living my best ’90s hottie life.

Hot Girl Summer By Megan Thee Stallion Mamushi Bikini Bottoms

A black bathing suit is like the LBD of swim and the detailing in this bikini makes it an instant must-have. From the snake-inspired fabric to the chain detailing on the bottoms, it looks even better in person than it did online. I also love that the top is convertible, giving you the option to wear it with or without straps, as a halter, criss-crossed, or more.

Hot Girl Summer by Megan Thee Stallion Hot Girl Summer One-Piece

I’ll admit that I was a little nervous about this one piece because of the high cut and cheekiness but I was ultimately pleased with the overall fit. I love a strappy back so this piece definitely won some extra points and of course the Hot Girl Summer slogan decked out in rhinestones. Purple might be my new favorite color.

Overall, the collection is a win for me. The vibrant colors compliment my skin tone, and I love the ’90s nostalgic details like the butterfly clips and rhinestones, especially on the crop top and can see myself wearing the collection beyond the beach.
