There are angels among us. ABBA said it—”I believe in angels, something good in everything I see”—so it has to be true.

If you’re having trouble seeing them, though, there are a couple of ways to tell when you’ve met an angel in real life. Some of them will give you advice out of the blue or say something to you that you know you needed to hear. Some of them will give you a present (a free pastry with your morning matcha, maybe?) or do something that reminds you of someone you love. And some of them will just look angelic.

Selena Gomez is an angel. Actually, she’s the perfect example here. And though you couldn’t physically see her halo on her wedding day, a simple glance at her nails was all it took to tell she’s an ethereal being.

The Angel Mani Trend

Nude manicures with a little extra something special have been *the* most popular form of nail art for the past few years. We’ve seen soap nails, glazed nails, naked French tips, and nude jellies. But angel nails are the most heaven-sent version of the trend yet.

The look comes from Gomez’s go-to nail artist, Tom Bachik, who called her wedding nails an “angel mani” when breaking down the products he used to get the look in a recent Instagram post. In another photo, he called it an “angel worthy wedding mani,” and the whole world agreed.

At its most basic, an Angel Mani is a soft nude manicure with just a touch of chrome powder and glossy top coat. There’s not enough chrome happening to call these nails glazed, and there’s not enough pink to the hue to go lip gloss. Instead, you’ll find a simple but unmistakable glow going on.

To add to their mystique, this is also a look you’d see on a Victoria’s Secret angel making her way down the runway.

“We wanted to keep all the girls chic, beautiful, and glossy,” lead nail artist Dawn Sterling told Harper’s Bazaar about her vision for the 2024 show. “Our team is doing a natural sheer manicure, not too pink, not too white, that illuminates with the lighting and their wings. There’s so much going on with the colors and diamonds, so we just wanted to do a minimal-yet-fabulous nail moment.”

It just happens to be easier to carry around than a giant pair of wings.

Get the Look

Bachik started the manicure with his signature set of Tweezerman nail tools. To get that divine soft-almond shape, he custom fit some of Aprés Nail’s Gel-X Medium Length Coffin Tips. Then, he painted the nails with Aprés Nail’s buildable sheer gel polish in When It Hits and finished things off with his own Shop Tom Bachik Cosmic Chrome powder in Angel, an “icy clear that gleams like frosted glass,” and Click Colors nail polish in Super Clear.

The truth of the matter is that angels come in all shapes and sizes, so you can be a little choosy when it comes to your Angel Mani shape. If you like short nails, go for it. Stilettos will do the trick, too. This is a look that any salon would happily replicate, or you could pick up some similar press-ons like Glamnetic’s Los Angeles pack (it’s the city of angels, baby!) and tackle it at home.

When your fingernails hit the light just right, I swear they’ll each have a tiny halo of their own. Oh yeah! You might be an angel, too.

Beautiful bride! Selena Gomez tied the knot with Benny Blanco on Saturday, Sept. 27, in a stunning Santa Barbara, California ceremony. But before she walked down the aisle, the Rare Beauty founder made sure her luscious locks were every bit as magical as her fairytale moment

A week before the big day, the Only Murders in the Building actress enjoyed pre-wedding hair TLC with her longtime colorist and Nine Zero One co-owner Nikki Lee.

“There’s a lot that goes into wedding prep, and your hair color is no exception,” Lee tells ET.

“When I helped Selena get ready for her wedding, we talked about how she planned to wear her hair down, so it was extra important that her color was rich, luminous, and frizz-free.”

To achieve this, Lee whipped up a custom blend of Wella Shinefinity (6/0, 5/37, and clear) for a warm, elegant tone with mirror-like shine, followed by an Ultimate Smooth treatment to boost reflection and keep the singer’s hair smooth.

Selena Gomez is head over heels for fiancé Benny Blanco — and she isn’t afraid to show it.

Gomez, 33, took to Instagram on Sunday, August 10, to share a sweet snap of herself kissing Blanco’s cheek. The photo was one of several featured in a carousel that captured a wedding the pair attended one night prior.

In the photographed PDA moment, Gomez covered her stunning ruby red halter-neck gown with a black coat as she pursed her lipstick-red lips to Blanco, 37. The music producer held one of his fiancée’s hands up to his other cheek as he gazed off to the side of the camera.

Gomez’s carousel drew approval from several of her celebrity friends, including Chrissy Teigen and Joey King, both of whom liked the post. Rachael Ray even left a comment that read, “Looking fabulous as always,” while musician SZA admitted in the comments section that she’d initially taken Gomez’s post caption — “About last night’s wedding” — the wrong way.

“This caption .. I panicked so crazy,” SZA, 35, wrote, suggesting that she’d thought Gomez had spilled photos from her own forthcoming wedding. SZA’s funny comment sparked Ray, 56, to reply in agreement, “Girl you and me both!!”

Gomez and Blanco dated for one year before he popped the question in December 2024. While the couple’s wedding date has not been publicly revealed, Gomez did offer some details into the big day during a TikTok post shared on July 25.

“Whenever that day comes, I do know I don’t want a big cake,” the video, posted by Gomez’s beauty brand, Rare Beauty, captured her telling fans. “I think I’d want a mini one for just us that we can freeze.”

Gomez then revealed her dream wedding treat. “My preferred dessert would be biscuits and gravy. My Nana’s biscuits and gravy — that sounds like dessert to me,” she explained.

Blanco said in July during an appearance on the “Therapuss with Jake Shane” podcast that he and Gomez were yet to “get into” planning their nuptials.

“We’re both working on so many things that we haven’t even had time to get into it but we’re so excited,” he said on the July 10 episode. “I think this summer, we’re going to sit down and be like, ‘Ok, what are we doing, hun?”

Blanco continued, “We got engaged and then it’s holidays and then we had to start all the promo for our stuff. Then she left to film her show, Only Murders in the Building, and then I met her and we hung out for a week and then it’s promo and then I’m writing another book.”

The producer noted that when the big day does arrive, he knows it will live up to the pair’s expectations. “It will be chill,” he added on the podcast. “It will be amazing.”
