I recently picked up these pants in three colors (seen above) as well as these incredible jeans (see them styled here) and it got me thinking about all my favorite new arrivals for October. Recently BR and Boden have been at the top of my list for standout pieces, and there are so, so many items on my wishlist. Tuckernuck is another go-to retailer that never disappoints – I’ll be sharing a big post on them later this week! BANANA REPUBLIC

BR is looking so fresh lately. I bought these pants immediately, and have also been eyeing these beautiful, drapey pants and this satin and lace skirt. In terms of sweaters, I love this incredibly cool cinch sweater that is available in two colors and this fitted, stripe turtleneck. Outerwear is my true love language and this faux fur, this bright blue and this cropped peacoat all caught my eye.

NORDSTROM

Nordstrom has been one of my favorite shopping destinations since starting Atlantic-Pacific wayyyy back in 2010. They just began carrying Aligne – a brand I love – and I am currently eyeing this sweater, this jacket, this bolero, and this cool skirt. More favorites right now include these faux leather pants (that fit!), this reversible coat, and this lux leo bag. For footwear, I just bought these Vejas (couldn’t resist the color combo) and these flats in the black and white colorway!

BODEN

Every month I eagerly await the latest Boden drop and this month’s new delivery may just be my favorite collection of all time (also get 10% off almost everything with WXVK). The rainbow plaid featured in this dress and this coat is so, so good. I am also loving the touches of floral – especially in these cords and this cardi. When it comes to brights and pattern play no one does it quite like Boden. This geo sweater and this pink toggle coat are on their way to me as I type. If you are looking for something a bit more elevated and occasion driven, check out this jacket and these sweet Mary Janes. Also, do not skip the accessories and gifting featured on site, how fun is this candle?!

SAKS FIFTH AVENUE

Bring on the dark, moody fall vibes! Saks is another one of my daily shopping destinations. Currently saved in my cart are these printed velvet pants and matching top. I am considering pairing the set back to these twist heels. I LOVE the shape (and own them in four leather colors) so I was thrilled to see them now offered in satin! When it comes to more casual dressing I am feeling these boots, this pair of wide leg denim, this awesome blazer, and this mohair stripe sweater. Saks also has a ton of great plaid options and this shorter jacket and this longer coat are on my short list. Last but not least, I am still deep in my slip dress phase, and love this piece as well as these velvet bow heels and these funky loafers.

J.CREW

Great news for all J.Crew lovers…there are some electric new arrivals AND the entire site is up to 40% off with SHOPFALL. What a win! As I mentioned above, I am head over heels for this pair of pants and may go back to grab this longer, wide leg version! No one does coats like J.Crew, and this season my favorites include this slick style, this teal beauty, this red barn coat, a great green shade in a classic shape, and this cropped, bright coat. Other J.Crew items that have caught my eye are this cable, this mohair bag, and these pants that are available in so many beautiful shades.

A blazer that I purchased last year (above) is back in new colors – check it out here!

This will be my 15th year covering the Nsale. Over the years my purchasing habits have shifted. This year I am focused on stocking up on beauty as well as eyeing a few fun, small pieces that are included in the event. In the past I would buy a lot more, but as I have grown and edited my closet, I don’t have a *ton* of immediate ready to wear needs. With that being said, I am going to point out a few of the RTW and accessories that I own and love that are included in the sale.

I buy this each and every year. This is my favorite face cream and it only goes on sale once or twice a year. Stock up here!

HOURGLASS BLAZER

I bought this blazer in the sale last year (in red) and was delighted to see it back in two new colors. It is a really thick material so it is more a cross between and blazer and a coat. I travel with it often come fall!

HAND SOAP

Another item I only buy once a year during this sale…Jo Malone hand soap! I buy four and that usually gets me through a year between our powder room and guest bathroom. This year I also bought two of these and two of these.

How Do I Know Whether a Deal Is Good?

ABC: Always be checking (prices, that is). Researching an item’s price is the most important aspect of determining the quality of a discount. Don’t fall prey to deceptive marketing language and inflated MSRP prices—our tips only take a few moments. The easiest step is to take a second to Google the items you’re considering so you can see the price across multiple stores.

One tool we like to use is Camelcamelcamel, which tracks Amazon’s prices over time. Paste the Amazon link or ASIN (found in the Product Information section on the Amazon product page) into Camelcamelcamel’s search bar and you’ll be able to see an item’s lowest recorded price, its average price, and how frequently the price fluctuates. Some deals, such as Lightning Deals, are excluded from the pricing history, but it’s useful to see what an item has sold for in the past. We also like Keepa, which has an extension (available for multiple browsers) that shows the recent price history for products directly on the Amazon page so you don’t have to open a new tab.

Keep in mind that these services may not work all the time. But being able to see how much a product costs right before the sale starts (and whether the MSRP happened to increase) can be helpful. Putting these tools together can help you deduce whether a deal is worth your money.

What’s a Lightning Deal?

Lightning Deals are limited-time deals that Amazon runs for only a few hours. They’re not restricted to Prime Day, but they’re especially prevalent during big sales events. Once an item sells out, you may be able to join a waiting list, but not always.

Put bluntly, the Lightning Deals selection is often full of impulse buys, like makeup and skin-care products or toys. Prime members can browse upcoming deals on Amazon’s website and in the mobile app. The app can also alert you before a Lightning Deal begins. We’ll share some of our favorite Lightning Deals in a live blog during the event this year.

How Does the Invite-Only Deals System Work?

The best deals sometimes sell out quickly. To get around this, Amazon launched an invite-only deals program during Prime Day. Prime members can request an invitation to purchase items that are expected to sell out. This feature is only available on select products, but it’s spread across a wide range of price points and categories—including kitchen, electronics, fashion, and beauty.

On the page, you’ll see a Request Invite button on the right-hand side. Click it to get a chance to buy it at the sale price, but there’s no guarantee you’ll be invited. According to an Amazon spokesperson, the company removes “botlike submissions” from the list of requests and selects from the remaining customers. However, it’s not clear how Amazon chooses from the remaining list of interested buyers.
