Prime Video’s been feeding superhero audiences with The Boys and its Gen V spinoff, but the franchise has other shows in the works. Up on the docket is one set in Mexico that’s gone quiet since the initial reveal back in 2023.

But according to Boys showrunner Eric Kripke, that series remains alive and kicking. In a recent Collider talk, he promised the show is in active development and is “very cool. […] I think the script is good, and the world itself meets the standard of all our spinoffs.” He further teased it as offering something different from the usual proceedings found in its siblings shows: “It’s our world, but a totally different tone, and it’s super fun. Gael [Garcia Bernal] and Diego [Luna] are executive producers, which is amazing and [they’re] really engaged with it.”

Kripke’s previously talked about his aims of keeping The Boys franchise alive without making it the butt of its own jokes. They’re using other franchises at reference points, observing the places where they’ve failed and succeeded, and ensuring any extension covers territory the other shows can’t: the general plot of The Boys: Mexico is right there in the title, while Gen V is set in a superhero college and the upcoming Vought Rising is a prequel set in the 1950s. As for Kripke’s mention of Mexico having a “totally diffferent” tone, we’ll have to wait and see what that means.

While we wait to hear more about The Boys: Mexico, we have Gen V coming back on September 17, followed by the final season of The Boys in 2026 and Vought Rising presumably sometime that same year.

‘Gen V’ Season 2 Trailer Reveals More New Supes and Even More Chaos http://livelaughlovedo.com/entertainment/gen-v-season-2-trailer-reveals-more-new-supes-and-even-more-chaos/ http://livelaughlovedo.com/entertainment/gen-v-season-2-trailer-reveals-more-new-supes-and-even-more-chaos/#respond Fri, 25 Jul 2025 23:56:46 +0000 http://livelaughlovedo.com/2025/07/26/gen-v-season-2-trailer-reveals-more-new-supes-and-even-more-chaos/ [ad_1]

Class is back in session today inside SDCC’s Ballroom 20, where members of Gen V took the stage to address attendees and deliver a brand-new trailer for the highly-anticipated second season. Familiar faces, including those of Season 1 stars such as Jaz Sinclair, Maddie Phillips, London Thor, and Derek Luh, joined new-to-the-family actor Hamish Linklater and showrunner Michele Fazekas to foreshadow what fans can expect when the title returns for its next set of episodes this September, and it’s crossover central!

You know Gen V loves to throw in a good cameo from The Boys and boy (pun intended) did they ever. This season, Marie (Sinclair) and her friends will be at the center of a sabotage plan as they head back to Godolkin, with none other than Starlight (Erin Moriarty) setting Marie up to the task. But, when they return to Godolkin, they discover that Dean Shetty’s (Shelley Conn) replacement, Cipher (Linklater), is wildly sadistic and psychotic, with one scene depicting him threatening Cate’s (Phillips) hand with a blender. Cipher takes a special interest in Marie’s blood-wielding powers, telling her that she could be even more powerful than Homelander (Antony Starr), which only drives her to carry out their pre-conceived plans even more. The debut trailer revealed that Valorie Curry‘s Firecracker would join the crossover fun and, on top of Starlight, we also caught a glimpse of The Deep (Chace Crawford) as well as a new character played by Wicked‘s Ethan Slater.

What Else Is on the Way From the Minds of ‘The Boys’?

The fifth and final season of Eric Kripke’s The Boys might be looming just over the horizon, but for now it seems like the universe is safe with not only Gen V but also another project titled Vought Rising. Starring Jensen Ackles as Soldier Boy and Aya Cash as Stormfront, the production is set to turn the clock back several decades and follow the leading characters during their early days with Vought. While there’s not a lot out there quite yet about Vought Rising, Ackles previously teased that its political components would fall in line with The Boys, revealing that “whether it’s politics or whether it’s violence or protests,” Kripke and his team seem to be one step ahead of current events.

Meanwhile, Season 5 of The Boys will showcase the final battle between the Supes and vigilantes as Homelander (Antony Starr) holds on tightly to his new position of power at the top of the U.S. government and Butcher (Karl Urban) attempts to find a way to stop him for good.

Gen V returns on September 17. Stay tuned to Collider for more to come from SDCC.

The Boys Star Erin Moriarty Shares Graves’ Disease Diagnosis http://livelaughlovedo.com/entertainment/the-boys-star-erin-moriarty-shares-graves-disease-diagnosis/ http://livelaughlovedo.com/entertainment/the-boys-star-erin-moriarty-shares-graves-disease-diagnosis/#respond Sun, 15 Jun 2025 13:08:59 +0000 http://livelaughlovedo.com/2025/06/15/the-boys-star-erin-moriarty-shares-graves-disease-diagnosis/ [ad_1]

The Boys star Erin Moriarty announced that she has been diagnosed with Graves’ disease.

“Autoimmune disease manifests differently in everybody/every body. Your experience will be different from mine,” Moriarty, 30, wrote via Instagram on Saturday, June 14. “My experience will be different from yours. Perhaps greatly, perhaps minutely. One thing I can say: if I hadn’t chalked it all up to stress and fatigue, I would’ve caught this sooner.”

According to the Mayo Clinic, Graves’ disease impacts the thyroid by causing the body “to make too much thyroid hormone.” Symptoms can include irritability, mood swings, rapid weight loss, tiredness, difficulty sleeping and a lower sex drive, among others. The autoimmune condition is more prevalent in women and tends to impact people older than 30 most often, the Mayo Clinic states.

Moriarty explained to her Instagram followers that she has already seen improvement after starting treatment “a month ago.”

“Within 24 hours of beginning treatment, I felt the light coming back on. It’s been increasing in strength ever since,” she noted. “If yours is dimming, even slightly, go get checked. Don’t ‘suck it up’ and transcend suffering; you deserve to be comfy. S***’s hard enough as is.”

The SAG Award nominee shared photos and text messages from her Graves’ disease journey, including a harrowing text she sent her mother at the height of her suffering.

“I’m serious; I really really need relief,” she wrote. “I feel nauseated tonight. I feel so s*** and removed from who I am, I can’t live like this forever. Or that long. There aren’t moments anymore, not even a passing 5 seconds, when I feel normal. I’ve never had that. Not one. It’s not just fatigue – it’s an ineffable, system-wide cry for help and I don’t know how long I can remain in this state.”

In sharp contrast to that alarming message, Moriarty included another text message to her father about how much better she felt after beginning treatment.

“I already feel a world of a difference, primary thought (as of now): ‘Damn, this is how I’m supposed to feel? I’ve been missing out,’” she declared.

Moriarty received huge support for going public with her diagnosis, with The Boys costar Susan Heyward and See actress Nesta Cooper both sending her heart emojis.

The Boys director Shana Stein also wished Moriarty well by replying, “So happy you’re on the road to healing.”

Moriarty rose to fame – and earned a Screen Actors Guild Award nomination – for her supporting performance in the 2016 drama Captain Fantastic. She followed it up with a well-received role as Hope Shlottman in Jessica Jones and starred in the 2018 true-crime comedy Driven opposite Ted Lasso actor Jason Sudeikis and Bodies Bodies BodiesLee Pace.

For the past four seasons, Moriarty has portrayed the reluctant superhero Annie January (a.k.a. Starlight) in Prime Video’s The Boys. The streamer confirmed Moriarty will return for the fifth and final season of The Boys, which is expected to premiere in 2026.
