Inevitably I hit a point in every long travel trip when I start to run out of things to wear. I will admit that I am not the best at packing! One thing I have found interesting is when I start to have that ‘welp, I have worn every planned outfit’ feeling, I begin to shop my suitcase and force myself to be more creative. I look at items differently and pieces I didn’t intend to wear together start to make sense. I end up forcing myself to be a bit more imaginative and many times will create looks that I love much more than the original looks that I had in mind.

I still have more content to share from NYC and Prague, but today I thought I would share some of the ways that I mixed and matched this Tuckernuck skirt while visiting Prague. And, if you like leopard also check out this piece, this piece and this piece). Let’s break it down below…

ADDING SOME COLOR

Would it be an A-P outfit without some color? I ended up wearing this sweater paired back to the skirt, but it felt a bit bulky and was awkward to tuck. Instead, I tied this jacket around my waist to give the look more shape. To better tie in the maroon in the sweater and jacket I wore these shoes in the same hue. I added my favorite clutch and earrings.

Since we are talking about packing, I’ll highlight a few of my traveling must-haves. These are the RTW, shoes, and accessories that I pack on every trip I take. They aren’t necessarily the most photographed pieces, but are the true workhorses in my suitcase(s). The items that I throw on to go grab coffee in the morning, for a late night ice cream stroll, or what I’ll wear to and from the airport.

A GREAT PAIR OF FLATS // Recently these and these are the flats that have been packed time and time again. These flats are a recent addition to my rotation, but the brand has been a forever favorite. The new shape and colors feel super fresh – check out that forest satin! I am only packing flats that I know will be comfortable and help avoid blisters from long hours of walking!

A CASHMERE SWEATER // I run cold so even in the dead of summer I am packing a cashmere sweater. The Marin sweater is my go-to!! I will also occasionally throw this in my carry on bag as a blanket/scarf option. I always find myself shivering on a airplane, cold car transfer ,or ice box feeling restaurant.

EASY DENIM // Easy denim that is truly throw on-the-go is a non negotiable. They need to be loose fitting, cropped, and have an easy waistline. These are by far my favorite (15% off with code BLAIR15). I first picked them up late in 2024 and have since gone back for more washes.

MY FAVORITE BUTTON DOWN // I am so sad that this style is sold out in so many sizes, as I receive so many DMs about it. The Veronica Beard button down that is fitted but extra long is a great, easy layering piece (as witnessed above). I hesitated putting it on the list as readers hate when I link to pieces that are practically sold out, but it felt like a big miss to not include it!

These Stylish Airplane Outfits Start at $27 at Amazon http://livelaughlovedo.com/travel/these-stylish-airplane-outfits-start-at-27-at-amazon/ http://livelaughlovedo.com/travel/these-stylish-airplane-outfits-start-at-27-at-amazon/#respond Tue, 16 Sep 2025 09:15:53 +0000 http://livelaughlovedo.com/2025/09/16/these-stylish-airplane-outfits-start-at-27-at-amazon/ [ad_1]

When I’m traveling, I want to look put-together, but feel like I’m wearing pajamas because there’s nothing worse than being stuck in an uncomfortable outfit for hours on end, dealing with cramped airplane seats, fluctuating cabin temperatures, and the general chaos of travel. After countless flights wearing everything from restrictive jeans to overly casual sweats (that don’t get me an upgrade to first class), I’ve decided to curate a list of comfy airplane outfits from Amazon with fabrics that travel great, won’t wrinkle easily, and can adapt to cabin temperature changes.

After researching Amazon’s best brands and testing several sets on my own adventures, I’m confident I’ve found picks that will transform your flying experience. From soft knit sweaters to breathable cotton blends, these outfits prove you can look presentable while feeling completely comfortable from takeoff to landing and beyond.

Comfortable Airplane Outfits

Wiholl Crewneck Sweatsuit Lounge Set

Amazon

This upscale tracksuit can be worn together as a coordinated set or mixed with other items in your wardrobe. What I love most about this set is how the sculpted cut is super flattering and effortlessly put-together, making it ideal for transitioning from airport to destination. The front pockets are practical for storing travel essentials, and the sporty yet stylish design means I can wear it for morning walks, running errands, or even casual dinners. Plus, it’s machine washable, and the fabric doesn’t add bulk when layering, making it perfect for packing light.

Lillusory Knit 2-piece Set

Amazon

I have this set in multiple colors and get asked about it constantly. While the fabric feels slightly heavier than synthetic blends, the dense cotton weave is specifically designed to keep you cool and fresh, making it perfect for summer destinations or stuffy airplane cabins. I like the tapered pants (which feel like sweatpants) because they look more refined than typical wide-leg styles. You can dress this Amazon set up with ankle boots or keep it casual with sneakers. While it does require hand washing or dry cleaning, I found that you can throw it in the wash on cold in the gentle cycle, and it still holds up beautifully.

PrettyGarden 2-piece Skirt Set

Amazon

This chic striped pullover and midi skirt combination provides perfect coverage for chilly cabin temperatures. One Amazon reviewer called the fabric “soft and buttery,” which is ideal for those inevitable mid-flight naps. I like that it looks polished enough for business travel but offers just enough stretch and movement for comfortable sitting. The striped pattern is classic and cleverly disguises any wrinkles that might occur during your journey. This set can be worn together for a coordinated look or mixed with other items, giving you multiple outfit options from just one travel set.

Bb&kk Knit Sleeveless 2-piece Set

Amazon

If you’re heading to a warm-weather destination, consider this sleeveless design (paired with a cardigan as needed). Unlike heavier fabrics that can leave you looking rumpled after hours of sitting, this set won’t wrinkle easily, making it ideal for those long-haul flights where you want to step off the plane looking refreshed. One Amazon shopper noted how “lightweight and cozy” the fabric is, and appreciated that washing the set didn’t affect sizing, which is a plus for frequent travelers who need pieces that maintain their shape after repeated washing and packing.

Codmc Knit Sweater Pullover Matching Set

Amazon

I have this set in the khaki color and I love that it makes sme look instantly put-together without being overdressed. The soft knit makeup of this sweater combo feels gentle against the skin during long flights, while the pullover design eliminates any fussy details that might dig in or become uncomfortable when you’re seated for hours. The matching pieces take the guesswork out of coordinating your outfit, which is especially helpful when you’re packing light or dealing with early morning departures. Just pull on and go! I wear these pieces separately and together, which allows many different outfit combinations.

10 Shoulder Bags Primed for Fall Travel http://livelaughlovedo.com/travel/10-shoulder-bags-primed-for-fall-travel/ http://livelaughlovedo.com/travel/10-shoulder-bags-primed-for-fall-travel/#respond Mon, 15 Sep 2025 13:10:21 +0000 http://livelaughlovedo.com/2025/09/15/10-shoulder-bags-primed-for-fall-travel/ [ad_1]

I’ve learned from years of experience that your choice of bag has the power to make or break an outing while traveling. Bringing along something too big, like a tote or carryall, can result in accidental overpacking or back aches. But you run the risk of not having enough space if you only pack smaller, trendier styles, like a micro bag, for a day on the go. Thankfully, there are some amazing shoulder bags on the market for fall—all designed to work hard in your travel wardrobe— so you no longer have to forgo function for fashion.

To determine which style is best suited for your time away, you must consider not only the destination you’re heading to, but also your itinerary once you arrive. Those that are exploring the great outdoors need something that can really do it all, which is where something like Bagsmart’s Reiki hobo bag comes in handy, thanks to its leakproof compartments and expandable design. Verified’s Eclair bag, on the other hand, is a perfect pairing for your next work trip, and all the various activities that might come along with it. Other standout styles include Telfar’s genius interpretation of a classic plastic shopping bag (you’ve got to see it), which has a surprisingly well-organized interior that makes it ideal for travel.

Whether you’re looking for something to carry while en route to your destination, or a style you can wear every day once you’re on the ground, there are plenty of stylish and practical options available right now. Read on for our top 10 picks for the best shoulder bags to travel with this season.

burgandy purse

Despite being known best for its carryall totes, Cuyana’s shoulder bags are just as practical—and the newly released Forma bag is a prime example. It’s carefully crafted from smooth and soft leather with supple suede lining that will protect any loose valuables you throw inside (think earrings or rings). There’s also an interior leather pocket, but the key to keeping the bottom of your bag organized is investing in the brand’s matching pouches.

black purse

This is the type of bag you can take with you anywhere in the world. It’s made from nylon with an expandable crescent shape you can wear crossbody or slung over your shoulder. The zip fastening along the top opens to a three-layer storage system with a dual mesh slip and a singular zip pocket for your smaller belongings. Arguably the best part is its leakproof external compartments, which allow it to double as a wet bag post-water activities.

brown purse

Quince

Leather buckle shoulder bag

Perfect for trips where you need to pack light and don’t want to tote around something too heavy, Quince’s buckle-detailed bag is a great pick. The vintage-inspired shape is fitted with removable shoulder straps, which let you carry it a bunch of different ways, while the zippered interior pocket can safely store anything you may want to keep concealed.

blue purse

MZ Wallace

Small Waverly shoulder bag

Fans of MZ Wallace’s carryall totes and pouches will love the brand’s new Waverly bag just as much. The drawstring silhouette is made from an easy-to-clean nylon material with Italian leather trim that instantly elevates an otherwise informal design. It’s also available in three different sizes (and two colorways), covering all your bases when it comes to storage space.

burgundy purse

Small but surprisingly spacious, you’ll look chic bringing Coach’s signature Plaza 18 bag with you everywhere. Aside from the fact that it’s made from durable leather, with a well-sized interior to fit all your travel documents, the clip-lock fastening lets you hook it to a tote or piece of carry-on luggage for easy access. You can also convert it into a wristlet to carry in hand while exploring new cities.

beige purse

Margesherwood

Soft Boston bag

If you’re looking for something that’ll get a lot of use when you travel but is still in line with the current trends, Marge Sherwood’s bowler-style bag, dubbed the Soft Boston, definitely fits the bill. The rectangular design is made from distressed leather that feigns natural wear and tear, with dual-top handles that snap together so they stay in place when slipped over your shoulder. On the inside, there’s one main compartment with two side pockets for your room key, bank cards, and other essentials.

blue purse

J.Crew

Berkeley shoulder bag

Suede for fall isn’t necessarily groundbreaking, and because of its often delicate nature, it’s not what you may immediately think of when it comes to a travel-friendly shoulder bag. However, this slouchy Berkeley style from J.Crew is a rare exception. Not only is it durable and roomy enough to fit all your everyday necessities (and more), but the concealed magnetic fastening will also keep everything safe from falling out en route.

brown purse

Naghedi

Nomad small hobo bag

Naghedi’s Nomad bag is a hobo/basket hybrid perfectly sized to hold only your essentials, which is really all you need when you leave the hotel to walk around a new city. Defined by its intricate, handwoven design, it comes with a coordinating pouch to keep your smaller items—like keys, loose change, or jewelry—from rattling around in the open interior.

red purse

Telfar

Regular Flower plastic bag

Telfar transformed the ever-present plastic shopping bag into a well-sized shoulder bag that can comfortably fit your laptop. Meant to be carried every day and made from a heavy-duty nylon material, it has stretchy-but-sturdy straps and three pockets in the fully-lined interior. If you need something with a little more space, consider sizing up to the larger style, instead.

black purse

Verafied

Silver noir éclar bag

Between the ‘90s-inspired three-in-one design and the secure, push-link fastening, this undoubtedly posh Eclair bag from Verafied New York is an ideal addition to your travel wardrobe. It’s made from premium calf leather that’s reinforced by a microfiber lining and silver hardware frame. The best part is that it can be carried multiple different ways—by the top handle or in your palm like a clutch, as well as over your shoulder thanks to the adjustable strap.

Essentials for getaways near and far.

Coach/Amazon/The Zoe Report

We may receive a portion of sales if you purchase a product through a link in this article.

It’s no exaggeration to say that packing the right (or wrong) products can make or break a trip. But after 10 years of traveling professionally, I can finally say that I’ve got the art of packing down to a science.

You don’t need me to remind you to pack the essentials — I’m sure you’ve got your headphones and toothbrush covered — but the products ahead are the ones I swear by for making trips more pleasant, comfortable, or fun.

From beauty products that help fake eight hours of sleep after a red eye to my favorite transitional fashion staples, these are the products this travel writer can’t go on a trip without.

A Slouchy Shoulder Bag

Lately, I’m all about a slouchy shoulder bag, and the Coach Brooklyn bag strikes the perfect balance of being chic and roomy enough to hold all my essentials. I’m especially loving this rich brown color for fall, but it’s neutral enough that it’ll go with everything in my wardrobe, all year long.

Self-Heating Eye Masks

These are a relatively recent obsession, but I always pack a few of these self-heating eye masks in my bag. They really help with post-flight redness and dry eyes when you’re stuck in a stuffy plane cabin for upwards of six hours.

A Warm Wool Coat

When packing for a trip, I always try and opt for things that can be dressed up or down with ease. Case in point? This gorgeous wool coat from ALIGNE; it can lean daytime casual when paired with wide-leg jeans and sneakers, but works just as well with an LBD for a night on the town. It’s even big and cozy enough to function as a makeshift blanket on the plane.

Hydrating Sheet Masks

I never travel without a sheet mask — there’s something about slipping one on that makes eating pasta in your bathrobe feel 10 times more special. Lately, I’m obsessed with these masks from Dr.Althea, which — just as their name suggests — leaves you with skin that looks dewy, juicy, and hydrated. Perfect for slipping on after a long flight.

Under-Eye Patches

Likewise, I always bring a stash of under-eye patches with me wherever I go. These include niaciniamide, retinal, and caffeine to hydrate and depuff, and are much less slippery than their hydrogel counterparts. I wear these most mornings while getting ready, and also find them to be more airplane-appropriate than a full on sheet mask.

A Pair Of Luxuriously Plush Socks

For long flights, I always bring a pair of plush socks to change into once we’ve taken off. My official “plane socks” are from the Barefoot Dreams CozyChic collection — you’ll be hard pressed to find a cozier pair around.

Gut-Supporting Probiotics

A Tablet

My Fire HD tablet has made long train/plane rides 10 times more enjoyable, and I’m not sure why it took me so long to buy one. Don’t forget to invest in a case that allows you to prop it up.

Plenty Of Lip Balm

Lately, I’ve been gravitating towards these mini eos lip balms. I love the cute packaging and nostalgic scents (like raspberry kiwi and honey apple), but I also find them to be genuinely moisturizing, without any of the gloopiness that can be off-putting. Bonus points for being tiny enough to stash in my front denim pocket (and coming with two extra to keep in my various bags).

A Matching PJ Set

Matching PJs are a must for me, always — they’re an essential component to the hotel room experience (bathrobe, big plush bed, crisp PJs… check check check). I’ve got dozens of pairs that I love, but this elegant cotton set from J.Crew is a classic.

An LED Makeup Mirror

Why does every hotel bathroom seem to have the worst lighting? Equipped with three brightness modes, this portable LED mirror ensures you never have to do your makeup in subpar lighting ever again.

A Mini Water Bottle

Most reusable water bottles are too bulky to realistically travel with, so I invested in this tiny, palm-size version. I call it my emergency water bottle and always keep it filled in my bag.

Single-Serve Matcha Packets

My matcha obsession is real, and these single-serve sachets allow me to get my fix wherever in the world I may be.

A Cozy Tracksuit

Maybe I’ve lived in the UK for too long, but I can’t go anywhere without a tracksuit. Perfect for morning coffee runs and long flights, my go-to brand is Adanola: I find their fits to be the most flattering.

The colors/styles available are practically endless, but I’m partial to the classic ‘AS’ oversized sweatshirt in gray melange; you can buy the matching sweatpants here.

A Comfy Pair Of Sneakers

These retro-inspired sneakers pair perfectly with my beloved travel tracksuits. They also happen to be incredibly comfortable for a long day of sightseeing.

21 Packable Jackets You Can Fit in Your Carry-On http://livelaughlovedo.com/travel/21-packable-jackets-you-can-fit-in-your-carry-on/ http://livelaughlovedo.com/travel/21-packable-jackets-you-can-fit-in-your-carry-on/#respond Sat, 23 Aug 2025 22:05:18 +0000 http://livelaughlovedo.com/2025/08/24/21-packable-jackets-you-can-fit-in-your-carry-on/ [ad_1]

In a perfect world, you could pack multiple jackets—leather, quilted, raincoats, jean jackets—on every trip. After all, jackets are the easiest way to elevate casual outfits and tone down overdressed ones. But unless you’re traveling with multiple suitcases, packing more than one or two per trip really isn’t feasible. Because of this, the ones you do pack need to pull their weight.

This fall’s trends make finding the right packable jacket a bit easier. Popular outerwear is leaning toward both sophistication and performance wear—a tough combination to pin down, but one that bodes well for mixing and matching outfits. The shift toward basics can be seen in both high and low-brow spaces: At this year’s New York Fashion Week, Calvin Klein debuted a Fall/Winter collection that called back to the simplicity of the ’90s and early 2000s. Simplicity isn’t just trending in street style and high fashion; it’s a practical way to look great in the outdoors, as evidenced by brands like Aritzia and Lululemon making athleisure cooler.

Our inspiration also comes from fashion creators who are embracing practicality in their respective cities with ease: Emelie Lindmark is sporting lightweight trench coats in Barcelona, Moya Mawhinney highlights the rugged, lived-in ease of workwear in Paris, and Manu Rios shows off a timeless leather jacket in Madrid. Pulling from their looks and keeping practicality in mind, we’ve compiled a list of lightweight, packable jackets that make passing through airport security, enduring rainstorms, and trudging through wind look chic.

Packable puffers

Woman in beige jacket

FP Movement

Pippa packable puffer jacket

Sizes available: Women’s XS–XL

Don’t be fooled by how lightweight this boxy puffer from FP Movement looks—it features PrimaLoft insulation to keep you warm and dry on chilly fall days. It’s also water-resistant and has snap-tab cuffs to lock in extra warmth. The Pippa packable puffer comes highly recommended by commerce editor Meaghan Kenny who says it’s, “the perfect lightweight jacket for fall temperatures.” We also love that it packs into its own pocket and is ultra-soft.

Woman in blue jacket

Patagonia

Nano Puff jacket

Sizes available: Women’s 2XS–L; men’s XS–3XL

As far as trustworthy jackets go, you can’t go wrong with the Patagonia Nano Puff. Available in both men’s and women’s sizes, this year-round essential is windproof, water-resistant, and wrapped in a 100% recycled polyester shell and lining. Made of highly compressible PrimaLoft insulation, this ultra-lightweight jacket packs up tightly in any carry-on. It also features two hand-warming zipper pockets and an adjustable drop-tail hem to seal in extra warmth.

Everlane

The Quilted Liner

Sizes available: Women’s 2XS–2XL

Quilted jackets are a great option for travelers—they’re usually very lightweight, layer well with other outerwear, and because they’re not as warm as a down jacket, they remain a staple almost year-round. We love this one from Everlane that can be worn over a turtleneck during the fall and underneath a wool coat come winter. It’s sustainably made, features handy side pockets, and is available in a few different colors, from navy and black to olive green and a mustard shade of yellow.

Image may contain: Clothing, Coat, Jacket, and Overcoat

Quince

Featherless quilted puffer jacket

Sizes available: Women’s XS–XL; men’s S–2XL

This affordable option from Quince offers a high collar and insulation to keep you warm on cooler days. Despite providing decent insulation for a quilted jacket, this puffer isn’t bulky at all. We also appreciate that it features a water-repellent finish and deep front pockets. Plus, it’s made of 100% recycled materials.

Rain jackets

woman wearing green jacket

Patagonia

Outdoor Everyday rain jacket

Sizes available: Women’s XS–2XL

Every traveler needs a packable rain jacket in their wardrobe. This waterproof jacket is perfect for outdoor adventures, and comes highly recommended by Traveler’s global digital director Arati Menon after wearing it nonstop on a rainy and windy trip to Fogo Island. She loves its slightly oversized fit, offering enough room for layering a shirt and sweater underneath. It’s made from recycled fishing nets to help reduce ocean plastic pollution—a major plus in our books. More pros: It’s easy to fold up and pack, features an internal chest pocket, and the hood never falls off.

Image may contain: Clothing, Coat, Jacket, and Raincoat

Sizes available: Women’s XS–3XL; men’s S–3XL, plus tall sizes

This one is great for more adventurous trips. At under 10 ounces, it’s ultra-lightweight and can be packed into nearly any bag you’re bringing (it folds up into its own pocket). You’ll be well-protected from any rain and extreme wind, thanks to its water-repellent finish and nylon material that can handle winds up to 60 MPH. Stash any large essentials like an umbrella in either of the two internal drop-in pockets and small items like your phone and wallet in the two zippered hand pockets.

Patagonia

Torrentshell 3L rain jacket

Sizes available: Women’s 2XS–2XL; men’s XS–3XL
A simple yet sleek option for travelers to wear everywhere is the Torrentshell 3-liter rain jacket. It packs up to fit in its front pocket—taking up little space in your carry-on, so you don’t need to feel guilty about throwing it in your suitcase last minute for those “what if” scenarios. This breathable, light-as-air rain jacket is completely waterproof and is made to last for years (have you heard of Patagonia’s Ironclad Guarantee?). It also features a two-way-adjustable hood and a micro-fleece-lined neck to provide a comfortable waterproof yet breathable barrier.

Image may contain: Clothing, Coat, Jacket, Person, Knitwear, and Sweater

Cotopaxi

Cielo rain jacket

Sizes available: Women’s 2XS–4XL; men’s XS–3XL

For something a little more fun, you can’t go wrong with Cotopaxi’s rain jacket that features the brand’s signature colorblocking pattern. The retro-inspired jacket is made with fully waterproof fabric and full seam taping to keep rain out. Breathable and easy to pack, this colorful option adds a pop of color to otherwise neutral outfits.

khaki rain jacket

Outdoor Ventures

Hooded soft-shell rain jacket

Size available: Women’s XS–4XL
In addition to being waterproof, this affordable Outdoor Ventures fleece-lined jacket maintains its breathability, making it ideal for trips to places like Banff, where you might be hiking, dining, and shopping all in the same weekend. Since it’s a windbreaker, it can easily fold or roll up to be stored in your carry-on. However, I recommend wearing it to the airport as it’s versatile, comfortable, and pairs well with casual wear.

Workwear jackets

Man in black jacket

Banana Republic

Twill shirt jacket

Sizes available: Men’s XS–XL

Workwear jackets are great travel jackets because of their warmth-to-weight ratio. This twill shirt jacket from Banana Republic can be worn over a T-shirt or hoodie, and is ideal for outdoor social events. The cotton twill makes the jacket surprisingly comfortable while maintaining its rugged finish. With a standard fit, you can pack its front pockets subtly with accessories while maintaining a relaxed silhouette. Consider this one ideal for a city-focused, backpack-only weekend trip.

model in whiskey colored coat

Todd Snyder

Japanese Selvedge chore coat

Sizes available: Men’s XS–XL
Inspired by his love of New York, Todd Snyder’s designs blend rugged workwear with timeless simplicity. The canvas material on this chore coat makes it a fairly lightweight addition to your carry-on. One customer noted that the coat breaks in fast, making it feel like an invisible layer with a high warmth-to-weight ratio. With a warm yet refined look, this piece is a go-to option that pairs well with tan or brown boots, dark jeans, or black trousers.

Man in white jacket

Sizes available: Men’s S–XL

When it comes to menswear in particular, barn jackets create a polished finishing touch on rugged looks. The Barn Jacket by Everlane earns points for its ability to block out wind and cold temperatures. With corduroy on the collar and cuffs, this jacket maintains a relaxed look. Make sure to order true to size as it runs large—plus you’ll want to layer this jacket on top of sweaters and hoodies. I am pro taking travel wardrobe risks even with the basics this year, but if the birch color is too bold for your taste, pivot to black or fennel seed (tan).

Athletic jackets

Man in black jacket

Sizes available: Women’s 2XS–2XL; men’s XS–2XL

It’s no secret that Arc’teryx is having a moment—with a portfolio of sleek and functional outerwear, Arc’teryx is a go-to for outdoors-loving travelers. The Beta SL jacket is a bestseller thanks to its waterproof and windproof shell, helmet-compatible hood, and Reeco reflector which helps with visibility at night. Hike with it in the Azores, layer it for skiing, or wear it on a biking trip in the backcountry. All the better to buy it as a travel gift for an adventurous yet minimalist traveler who’s not one to compromise on quality.

Image may contain: Clothing, Knitwear, Sweater, Sweatshirt, Hoodie, Coat, Jacket, Long Sleeve, Sleeve, Hood, and Blouse

Lululemon

Always Effortless jacket

Sizes available: Women’s 0–14

This Lululemon Always Effortless jacket couldn’t have a more apt name. Snag it in light ivory or black to ensure it’s a staple in your capsule wardrobe. It’s a jacket that ensures you’ll be the best dressed in casual settings: It’s classy for hiking, well-defined for breakfast runs, and polished at the airport. Waterproof and windproof, it’s great in rainy climates. (Past customers recommend sizing up.)

model in brown track jacket

Aritzia

Golden Butter Distance zip-up

Sizes available: Women’s 2XS–XL
Aritzia’s description of this full-zip jacket gets right to the point: “Speed walk, anyone?” The Aritzia Butter Distance Waist zip-up is ideal for canyon hikes, dry climates, and any shoulder season escape where it’s sunny yet chilly. The jacket folds up small enough to be included in a backpack-only packing list for short weekend trips as well. You can pair it with either the matching Hi-Rise 5″ short or a pair of neutral leggings. The ultralight, buttery soft sweat-wicking fabric makes it a go-to for hotel tennis matches, city runs, and outdoor yoga classes.

model wearing black jacket

Vince

Ripstop bomber jacket

Sizes available: Men’s S–2XL
Slightly heavier than a traditional bomber jacket, the Vince Ripstop jacket is lightly padded with Italian cotton. It’s ideal for days spent somewhere like Nantucket, where you might go shopping along cobblestone streets, walk down to Jetties Beach, and dine at Cru all by 6 p.m. The jacket fits true to size, so there’s no need to size up, even if you plan to layer. For a comfortable all-day outfit, pack it with the Vuori Cascade Tech chino pants.

Denim jackets

Woman in jean jacket

Sizes available: Women’s 2XS–XL

In a digital sea of denim options, it’s the stitching on this one that makes it one of our favorite packable jackets. Despite its relaxed fit, the design of the front pockets give this jacket structure, making it a versatile choice for both day trips and a night of impromptu plans. Even better, it comes from Everlane, a brand that prioritizes sustainability and transparency (check out the pricing outline at the bottom of each product page). (Pro tip: If you’re really short on packing space, jean jackets are a great option to wear on the plane, freeing up room inside your suitcase for a rain jacket or other lightweight coat—or, for more clothes or shoes.)

Woman in jean jacket

Quince

Oversized Denim jacket

Sizes available: Women’s XS–XL

We know everyone won’t stop talking about Quince, but hear us out: It really delivers on its mission of proving you don’t have to overspend on basics. Consider this foldable Oversized Denim jacket to be the perfect supplemental product on our list—it might not be the one you wear day after day, but it’s a worthy addition if you’re planning to pack an extra in your carry-on.

Yup, this is another shopping roundup suggesting the Levi’s Trucker jacket. I admit: Levi’s promotion that the jacket “gets better over time with natural fading, stains, and holes” usually wouldn’t sell me. However, for travel we make–and embrace–that exception. Imagine wearing it on a moped in Greece, in the Sahara desert, or out west. Now that you’ve got the visual, buy the jacket in dark wash or black, pair it with cowboy boots, and book a trip to wear it on already.

Sizes available: Women’s 2XS–XL

The Esquire trench coat by Aritzia stands out for its detailed design. Content creator Kalila Craig paired the trench with a white sweat set, highlighting the jacket’s versatility. “I’m happy that I sized up with a medium because it fits over so many different layers,” said Craig on TikTok. With its water-resistant fabric, the trench is a shoulder season staple that can be packed in your carry-on or worn as a layering piece to the airport. If you don’t plan to layer it over bulkier sweaters, you may want to size down, as customers noted that the jacket runs large.

Oversized leather jackets can feel like a commitment; it’s often not the only jacket you want to bring with you on a trip. That’s why you want one that’s lightweight enough to make room for other staples. It’s a good option for those looking to forgo real leather, and reviews mention that the jacket’s material is dense and finely textured, giving it a vintage feel. It’s a versatile jacket to wear around a city, especially if you’re looking to go purse-free. “The pockets are a great size for my wallet and phone where I’m not scared that they will fall out when I’m walking around,” says reviewer Shruti Sharma. While the jacket is meant to be oversized, some reviewers recommend ordering down a size. If you want to go beyond basic black, this piece is also available in brown and red, which can style well with turtlenecks, dark jeans, and tank tops.

11 Best Flared Leggings for Travel Days, According to Our Editors http://livelaughlovedo.com/travel/11-best-flared-leggings-for-travel-days-according-to-our-editors/ http://livelaughlovedo.com/travel/11-best-flared-leggings-for-travel-days-according-to-our-editors/#respond Fri, 18 Jul 2025 21:28:29 +0000 http://livelaughlovedo.com/2025/07/19/11-best-flared-leggings-for-travel-days-according-to-our-editors/ [ad_1]

“What does everyone wear on the plane?” a colleague recently asked in the office. Before I had a chance to recommend our best leggings for flight days, she continued: “Don’t say leggings. They’re comfy, but personally I think they’re too casual to wear outside the gym.” Such is the plight of the fashion-forward traveler. How does one balance feeling genuinely comfortable in an economy seat without dressing like they’re about to settle in for the night or got lost on the way to a HIIT class?

Flared leggings might be the answer. While skinny jeans and bodycon dresses have long been banished to the back of the closet, athleisure has only more recently embraced the joys of flowier fabrics. Look now and you’ll see stylish types opting for loose, stretchy flares everywhere from reformer Pilates class to brunch and airport lounges alike.

These newer, breezier cuts range from full-flowing palazzo pants to more sleek, compressive kick flares in fabrics ranging from stretchy spandex to ultra-soft cotton. They’re different enough from regular leggings to shake off any ‘gym gear’ associations, while retaining the stretchy waistbands and breathable fabrics that are a must-have for flight days. That means they’re equal parts versatile and comfortable, and a bit smarter than wearing loungewear out of the house.

Both the US and UK Traveler teams tested 11 of the best pairs of wide-leg leggings from top brands such as Lululemon, Adanola, Tala, and Alo Yoga. We hunted for buttery-soft, relaxed fits that looked flattering and felt comfortable on the move, with waistbands that wouldn’t roll down in a plane seat. The pairs below made the cut.

Uniqlo Women’s AIRism Cotton T-shirt

Uniqlo

This Uniqlo tee looks like a plain cotton T-shirt, but it’s actually made with a quick-drying polyester-cotton blend fabric that’ll keep you cool and comfortable on sweltering days. The boxy, open short sleeves and side slits on the hem also help to promote air flow. All of these qualities, along with its versatility, make it the “best summer shirt,” according to one five-star reviewer.

Trendy Queen Women’s Square-neck T-shirt

Amazon

If you’ve been wanting to try the square-neck trend for yourself, check out this highly-rated Trendy Queen T-shirt from Amazon. Unlike many of the shirts featured on this list, this top isn’t made from cotton. Rather, it’s constructed with a stretchy, figure-hugging polyester-spandex material that reviewers say has a snatching effect on the waist. And despite being listed at just $10, plenty of shoppers share that the material is plenty thick and not see-through.

Aerie Women’s Vintage T-shirt

American Eagle

This lightweight Aerie shirt has a vintage-inspired silhouette that can easily be dressed up or down with the right accessories. “This is the perfect everyday tee,” wrote one five-star reviewer, adding that they love the slightly loose fit.
