Tate McRae might just be the coolest woman you know — and part of that is thanks to Gianna Corvino, founder of The NY Archive.

The vintage collector and designer is behind McRae’s coveted zebra pony hair Fendi heels, as well as the singer’s go-to baby tee. Now, she’s telling ET how she does it all.

“Growing up on the Upper East Side in New York City, girls had Chanel backpacks at age 16 and luxury goods were everywhere. Instead of giving in to that pressure, my mom kept me grounded and let me borrow from her closet. I didn’t even realize I was wearing vintage at the time, I just knew I felt amazing slipping into her old BCBG dresses or my dad’s leather jackets,” she explains.

What started as raiding her parents’ wardrobes evolved into a global treasure hunt. Today, Corvino scours everything from Paris flea markets to Upstate New York estate sales, sourcing standout items for herself, McRae, Lily Rabe, and more.

“The right piece doesn’t just complete an outfit, it helps you stand apart, whether it’s on a red carpet or just on your way to work. … It’s part intuition, part obsession. I’m constantly looking for pieces that spark something in me,” she notes.

Among her personal favorites: Manolo Blahnik shoes, embroidered Christian Lacroix gowns, crochet Blumarine separates, colorful Dior tops, and beaded Fendi baguettes.

For anyone embarking on their own vintage mission, Corvino suggests starting with a strong sense of personal style.

“Once you know yourself, finding the right pieces becomes effortless. It takes a little trial and error but drawing inspiration from things you love like old movies, magazines, or even art can really help,” she shares.

If you want an extra hand, Corvino offers one-on-one appointments at her curated showroom in New York City.

“I love doing private sourcing and styling sessions at The NY Archive HQ. … I wanted the vibe to be the opposite of a retail store and more like an elevated version of playing dress-up or walking into your most stylish friend’s apartment. It’s a fun, intimate, and nostalgic space.”

Staples you can’t leave without? Worn-in Levi’s, a leather bomber jacket, cowboy boots, ballet flats, and a pre-loved watch. To level things up, Corvino says it’s all about adding the perfect graphic tee.

“A baby tee is such a simple piece, but the right one can completely shift your look, like wearing your personality on your sleeve, literally. … The NY Archive designs are funny, playful, cheeky, and a little girly. … They land somewhere between the nostalgia of the Justice tees we all grew up with, Rachel McAdams‘ iconic graphic tank while playing Regina George in Mean Girls, and Dior shirts from the early 2000s.”

Keke Palmer was the quintessential main character at The Pickup premiere. Stepping out to spotlight her new movie, the multi-hyphenate combined a vintage gown with Studio 54-worthy glam and no shortage of diamonds.

Joining Eddie Murphy and Pete Davidson, her co-stars in the Prime Video comedy heist, the vintage-loving 31-year-old once again turned to the archives. For the premiere at LA Regal, Palmer opted for a slinky embellished dress by Versace, with a retro one-shoulder silhouette and burnout detailing across the torso and chest.

Palmer, styled by Molly Dickson, also wore an array of bling alongside the Studio 54-worthy gunmetal grey dress including a choker with a solitaire, bangles, and spiral earrings.

On the glam front for the Sunday evening outing, makeup artist Kenya Alexis complemented Palmer’s metallic number with a shimmering smokey eye and a frosted baby pink pout. Meanwhile, hair stylist Davontae’ Washington dialed it up with dance floor-ready curls pulled back high on the crown.

The gown is almost the exact same as one that Naomi Campbell wore to the 13th annual Night of Stars event in New York City event at The Pierre Hotel in 1996 alongside designer Donatella Versace, although the supermodel’s version featured a long sheer sleeve.

Since working with Dickson, whose clientele also includes Sydney Sweeney, Lana Del Rey, and Sadie Sink, Palmer has delivered no shortage of vintage fashion moments particularly Karl Lagerfeld-era Chanel. This isn’t her first Versace nod either, having recently worn a gilded mini dress from the Italian luxury label, as well as an embellished orange frock when appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

Over the weekend, for an interview on Screen Rant ahead of The Pickup’s release next week, Palmer delivered a monochromatic moment in fire engine red; literally from head-to-toe. Complementing her chili-hued locks, the Master of Me author even teamed the look with a 00s-era John Galliano for Dior red and leopard print Saddle bag.

Just like when Palmer wore an archival Jean Paul Gaultier dress last seen on Sex and the City season 2, Carrie Bradshaw — a famous fan of the iconic Y2K handbag — would be proud.

Style soulmates! Elyce Arons sat down with ET to celebrate the release of her memoir, We Might Just Make It After All, which details her friendship and business partnership with the late Kate Spade as they built the eponymous brand, Kate Spade, together.

Arons, the co-founder and CEO of Frances Valentine, which was also co-created with Spade before the designer died in at age 55 in June 2018, shared the top fashion advice she and Spade exchanged.

“Our personal style wasn’t always aligned, especially when we first met. Katy had a much more traditional, preppy style, and mine was more trend-driven, and always trying to emulate the latest looks in magazines,” Arons admits. 

While the duo was initially drawn to different fads, they eventually blended their unique senses of fashion to create timeless outfits.

“It was fun to learn from each other. … We truly found the most inspiration from vintage and really bonded over our love of vintage shopping and searching for treasures we both appreciated and could afford,” she spills.

Spade’s favorite finds: “Katy loved colorful and joy-sparking pieces, whether vintage or new. She always treasured pieces with excellent design and great quality.”

“We’d imagine the story behind each piece, and think about the woman who had owned it,” Arons adds. 

Some of those style icons included stars like Mary Tyler Moore, Ali McGraw, Kathryn Hepburn, and Jackie Onassis, before A-listers like Gwyneth Paltrow, Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen, Mindy Kaling, and Taylor Swift were spotted in their designs. 

“We loved when celebrities chose to carry our bags, but to us, it was the every-woman bag. Buying a Kate Spade bag became a rite of passage for so many young women entering the work force,” the author explains. 

And the original Kate Spade purses from the 1990s still hold up today.

“One of my biggest pieces of advice for young people who are trying to find their style is to start with vintage. … A fun, colorful handbag, a summer basket bag, kitten heels, Mary Jane flats, and loads of costume jewelry for layering,” she suggests.

As for what you can never go wrong with? “A crisp white shirt — or 10 — a pair of black cigarette pants — or 3 — a go-to swing coat, trench, or jacket in a fun print or color, a great fitting pair of jeans, and a fabulous dress that makes you feel like a million bucks,” Arons dishes.
