Ahead of kicking off his God Does Like World Tours world tour (ahem), JID stopped by The Late Show with Stephen Colbert to perform one of the standout tracks from his new album, God Does Like Ugly: “Glory.”

In keeping with the track’s spiritual themes, the performance took its cues from a Sunday service, complete with a choir and neon crosses dressing the set. “Early in the mornin’, got sun in my eyes,” JID raps. “Givin’ glory to God, I’m alert and alive / I ain’t even shleep, I been workin’, I’m tired / But it’s not gon’ deter my assignment.” As the performance reaches its midway point, the beat breaks down and the lighting changes to reflect the change in the song’s mood.

Even though JID will be on tour next month, he’ll still find time to honor some of his rap heroes when Outkast is inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame. JID’s billed as one of the ceremony’s performers alongside fellow ATL rap royalty, Killer Mike and Sleepy Brown. Meanwhile, he’s got fans already looking forward to 2026, and the potential release of his long-awaited album with Metro Boomin — and maybe even the one he recorded with J. Cole.

For now, you can watch JID perform “Glory” on the The Late Show above.

JID & J. Cole Recorded A 15-Song Joint Album, JID Revealed http://livelaughlovedo.com/jid-j-cole-recorded-a-15-song-joint-album-jid-revealed/ http://livelaughlovedo.com/jid-j-cole-recorded-a-15-song-joint-album-jid-revealed/#respond Mon, 11 Aug 2025 06:09:50 +0000 http://livelaughlovedo.com/2025/08/11/jid-j-cole-recorded-a-15-song-joint-album-jid-revealed/ [ad_1]

JID dropped his album, God Does Like Ugly, today, but a comment he made on the promo run will probably have fans clamoring for another new release from him in short order.

During an appearance on The Joe Budden Podcast, JID revealed that he had recorded a joint album with his Dreamville benefactor, J. Cole. While talking about his rhyme mentor, he boasted, “Me and Cole got a body, a 15-track smoker. Me and him, back and forth. We worked on this sh*t in New York, I ain’t never told nobody this. Sorry, Cole!”

Considering the chemistry J. Cole and JID have displayed on songs like “Stick,” “Off Deez,” and “Down Bad,” Dreamville fans will undoubtedly be excited for an official release.

However, they probably shouldn’t expect to see one anytime soon. JID will be busy promoting God Does Like Ugly for the foreseeable future, and then, there’s that long-awaited joint album with Metro Boomin that’s supposedly been in the works for a couple of years. That was “still a thing” as recently as last April, according to Metro Boomin, although there are probably still all kinds of business considerations to be worked out.

That won’t stop fans from asking about it now that they know it exists; there are some who still think that there’s a joint project from J. Cole and Kendrick Lamar floating around, even with their adamant insistence that they never had any plans to make one. So, I’m sure they’ll be really chill about the possibility of Cole and JID possibly releasing a joint project at some point.

JID Unveils The New Song ‘Beau,’ From The Mixtape Previewing His Upcoming Album http://livelaughlovedo.com/jid-unveils-the-new-song-beau-from-the-mixtape-previewing-his-upcoming-album/ http://livelaughlovedo.com/jid-unveils-the-new-song-beau-from-the-mixtape-previewing-his-upcoming-album/#respond Fri, 04 Jul 2025 04:18:43 +0000 http://livelaughlovedo.com/2025/07/04/jid-unveils-the-new-song-beau-from-the-mixtape-previewing-his-upcoming-album/ [ad_1]

JID has a new album, God Does Like Ugly, coming this August. Before that, though, he’s putting a spin on the deluxe editions that tend to follow albums with GDLU Preluxe, a mixtape that he’s releasing before the project, on July 4. An EP or small collection of songs to precede an album isn’t a new thing, but the labeling is fun. At any rate, he shared “32 (Freestyle)” a couple days ago, and now he’s back with another new one, “Beau,” a fun four minutes that shows off his characteristic lyrical dexterity.

JID has been busy. He confirmed in March that the new album was finished, writing, “It’s done. It’s turned in. It’s coming really f**king soon. It’s been a long time in the making. All the ‘T’s are crossed, and the ‘I’s are dotted. I think we’re in a good position to build this new world that I’ve been working on for the past couple of years.” He also performed at the final Dreamville festival, and during his set, he previewed his now-released single “Wrk.” He also just joined Offset on the Drowning Pool-sampling “Bodies.”

God Does Like Ugly is out 8/9 via Dreamville/Interscope. Find more information here.

Offset And JID’s ‘Bodies’ Video Is Gloomy http://livelaughlovedo.com/offset-and-jids-bodies-video-is-gloomy/ http://livelaughlovedo.com/offset-and-jids-bodies-video-is-gloomy/#respond Sat, 21 Jun 2025 10:02:51 +0000 http://livelaughlovedo.com/2025/06/21/offset-and-jids-bodies-video-is-gloomy/ [ad_1]

In 2023, Offset and JID linked up when they recorded “Danger (Spider)” for the Across The Spider-Verse soundtrack. A couple years later, the pair has reunited for “Bodies,” a brand new collaboration.

The hook uses a sample of the whispered intro of Drowning Pool’s 2001 signature single of the same name, and it works well in this hip-hop mode removed from its original nu-metal context.

A video arrived following the song’s release, and Offset directed it himself. It starts with a dark and stormy scene before incorporating visual themes of religion and death; The track also prominently samples a rendition of the gospel song “Ringing Them Bells” performed by the choir The Spirituals.

In a statement, Offset says of the song:

“‘Bodies’ is one of them ones I had to really take my time with. It’s about standing on who you are, coming out the mud, and being confident in the face of adversity. I’m always evolving, and I don’t fit in a box as an artist. I’ve been cooking this up for a minute and I’m just getting started. JID is my guy and had the perfect energy to match ‘Bodies.’ Stay tuned because we going up.”
