A little competition never hurt anyone! Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu first rose to fame after winning Love Island in 2022 and has since become a familiar face on reality television with stints on Dancing on Ice, The Wheel, The Traitors US, Celebrity Big Brother, and Love Island: All Stars.

Now, the British-Turkish actress is taking her talents to Netflix’s new high-stakes series, Inside: USA, and she’s sharing her advice for surviving (and thriving) on TV.

“I’ve always had that fire in me. … I’d describe my competitive spirit as strategic and observant. I love to have fun, but I also want to win,” she tells ET. 

Offscreen, the 31-year-old is just as fierce, but her opponents are different. 

“I’m competitive with myself more than anything. I’m always pushing to be better, whether that’s in my career or personal life. I love to set big goals and challenge myself. I don’t like to settle until I’ve reached them,” she says.

Since adopting that strong mindset, it’s been easy for Cülcüloğlu to ignore any haters. 

“Once you know your worth, the outside chatter doesn’t matter as much. When the comments come in, I try to focus on the positives and the love people send rather than the negativity,” the model notes. 

“I’ve learned that you can’t please everyone, and that’s okay. I remind myself that most negativity says more about the person writing it than about me,” she adds.

Above all, the television star embraces her journey on and off camera.

“People have literally watched me fall in love, make mistakes, and reinvent myself. I’m not afraid to change and grow. I want to keep surprising people and show different sides of who I am.”

“Returning to roots really has a double meaning for me,” Hudson shared. “There’s African influence in the prints and the fabrications, but it’s also about going back to the bright colors and sharp tailoring the brand has always been known for. I wanted to play with glamorous fabrics and bold hues, to bring some light and joy into the world at a time that feels so heavy. A lot of that inspiration comes from my clients — these incredible women who are persevering with such strength and grace right now, they fuel the spirit of this collection.”

The runway also featured a surprise moment when Love Island star Olandria made her debut, strutting in Sergio Hudson’s powerful designs and underscoring the brand’s reach beyond fashion into pop culture.

The show further introduced a capsule collaboration with Esor Marie, blending Sergio Hudson’s refined power dressing with Esor Marie’s fresh aesthetic. Together, the pieces underscored Hudson’s ability to merge heritage, luxury, and cultural pride into one cohesive statement.

I’m sure we can all agree that this season of Love Island USA was good, but there was a big problem with it. How was anyone supposed to focus on the drama or developing relationships when someone as stunning as Chelley Bissainthe was on the screen?

The same problem presented itself with the Season 7 reunion, which aired on Peacock Monday, August 25. I wanted to hear everything, but miss Chelley’s glow literally stole the show. Seriously—I had to Google who she even ended up with to remind myself of the lore, and I watched *every* episode as it aired. And before I even cared enough to do that?! I was researching what highlighter she wore.

Luckily, makeup artist Kenya Alexis gave Byrdie all the exclusive details on the 28-year-old’s (today is her birthday!!) reunion glam. Keep reading to discover the duo’s inspiration and the products they used to get there.

The Inspiration

“Chelley radiates this effortless glow and confidence, both on and off camera, so I wanted her reunion glam to feel like an extension of that energy,” Alexis explained.

With that in mind, the secret weapon for the night was Vaseline’s new Shimmer Gel Oil in the shade Sunlit Glow. Alexis says it melts into the skin “like butter,” leaving behind a chic and radiant shimmer. It also smells nice (you know scent is important on Love Island), hydrates, and photographs well. It’s “the kind of product that makes skin come alive under the lights.”

“It gave her skin that luminous, lit-from-within finish that tied everything together,” Alexis added. “This summer’s biggest beauty story has been glow—not just on the face, but all over the body. How to Get the Look

Alexis tells Byrdie that she wanted Chelley’s skin “to glow from every angle” at the taping. Brushed across her décolleté, shoulders, and legs, the Vaseline Shimmer Gel Oil in the shade Golden Hour was the finishing touch before she took the stage. But a lot of goodness came before that, too.

A few of her makeup go-tos were the Hourglass Vanish Stick Foundation, a Pat McGrath concealer, and Danessa Myricks Yummy Skin Glow Serum “for that seamless base.”

“I prepped Chelley’s lips with Vaseline Original Healing Jelly so her lipstick would feel comfortable all night,” the artist explained. “For a natural, dewy highlight, I applied the Vaseline Cocoa Radiant Shimmer Stick by rubbing it onto the butt of a beauty blender and tapping it onto the high points of her face. It melts perfectly into makeup without disturbing it.”

The reunion was filmed on a closed set, so Alexis couldn’t be around for touch-ups between takes. Good thing islanders know how to glam themselves, huh?

“I left her with a mini touch-up kit,” the makeup artist added. “A powder puff packed with setting powder, black eyeliner, lash glue, lip liner, lipstick, and gloss—and of course the Vaseline Shimmer Gel Oil so she could keep that glow going all night.”
