Opting to forgo the typical buzzy New York Fashion Week runway atmosphere, Altuzarra celebrated its 15th anniversary with an intimate showing of the Fall/Winter 2024 collection, not necessarily marking the beginning of a new era for the label, but rather, a return to the focus on the simple sophistication that brought Altuzarra to the forefront of the fashion world. Continuing his exploration of the modern wardrobe from his previous collection, Joseph Altuzarra entered this season with the intent to capture the ever-changing spirit of contemporary everyday fashion—meshing practicality with the more precious aspects of dressing.
“I wanted this collection to feel, in some ways, like a ‘collection’ in a different sense of the word, meaning: collected, over time, passed from generation to generation, and gathered over many travels and discoveries,” Altuzarra said in a release.
Timeless, classically chic pieces—slinky slip skirts, silky shirt dresses, and high-waisted knit pants—were presented in conversation with elegant, eclectic details, seen in Pierrot style collars, harlequin geometric prints, and shimmery sequins, resulting in a collection balanced between two approaches to fashion—anchored in the practicality of everyday apparel, but elevating with hints of eccentricity. Drawing from Altuzarra’s acquired myriad of inspirations, the collection featured the label’s widely beloved patterned shirt dresses, playful rosette details, sultry sheer lace-paneled skirts, sleek leather pleated skirts, and equestrian-inspired tailored pants, marking the Fall/Winter 2024 line as a raw, honest visual documentation of the true essence that lives within the brand and the designer behind it.
Closing the show, Irina Shayk emerged onto the runway sporting a pared-back belted leotard, complete with matching tights and sleek black ballet flats, rounding out the collection with a look emphasizing the effortless elegance, timeless feminine charm, and sophisticated sensuality that exists at the heart of Altuzarra.
