It seems Bradley Cooper has taken some wardrobe inspiration from his character in Maestro.
In the new biographical drama, the nine-time Academy Award nominee plays world-famous American conductor and composer Leonard Bernstein. He, like many other maestros, always wore suits or tuxedos on stage. It makes sense then, that Cooper opted for a sharp Louis Vuitton three-piece for the film’s premiere at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures in Los Angeles on Tuesday evening.
The 48-year-old actor, who also produced and directed Maestro, posed with his co-star, Carey Mulligan before the screening. Mulligan, who plays Costa Rican actress Felicia Montealegre in the flick, wore a Celine dress in nearly the exact same hue as Cooper’s suit. He decided to pair the navy vest, jacket, and trousers with a crisp white shirt and a contrasting black tie.

Cooper also appeared to be wearing a sleek wristwatch with a navy dial. It’s difficult to see the entire piece in the press pictures, but he has previously sported a special-edition IWC Big Pilot watch with a navy blue dial and red-gold case. He could also be wearing a Louis Vuitton Tambour Regatte Navy 44. Cooper was revealed as Louis Vuitton’s first dedicated watch ambassador last September, with a campaign to mark the 20th anniversary of Tambour. He also showed off a steel iteration of the iconic timepiece in July, 21 years after the debut of the original model.
One thing is for certain, Cooper looked as sharp as Bernstein on the red carpet. Lady Gaga also attended last night’s premiere to celebrate her former A Star Is Born co-star. Cooper’s six-year-old daughter, Lea De Seine, was even there posing with A-listers at the event.
Maestro premiered in select theaters in November and will be available to stream on Netflix on December 20. It too is full of well-tailored suits that were created by costume designer Mark Bridges. He previously told Women’s Wear Daily that the costumes reflect Bernstein’s different emotional stages in life.
“It’s talking about him and what he’s going through as a person,” Bridges says. “You just make choices along the way; we subsequently see him in a jumpsuit, and sort of leaving the family and things like that. So that striped shirt with the neckerchief kind of tells what upheaval he’s going through in his own life.”
Let’s see if the looks stack up to Louis Vuitton, then.
