Celebrating 30 Years, Mühle-Glashütte Launches Limited 29er Big Bronze Edition 1994 | WatchTime

In 2024, Mühle-Glashütte is celebrating the 30th anniversary of the family business in its current form. The beginnings of the independent Glashütte watch manufactory date back to 1869, when Robert Mühle ventured into entrepreneurship and founded a “precision engineering workshop” in Glashütte, where high-precision measuring instruments were manufactured for the emerging watch industry.

The Mühle-Glashütte GmbH nautische Instrumente und Feinmechanik was founded in 1994 by Hans-Jürgen Mühle. After German reunification, he revived his family’s company, which had been expropriated in the GDR. The newly founded family business initially manufactured marine chronometers, marine clock systems and other nautical instruments.

The first wristwatches were introduced in 1996. Designed and manufactured with the same nautical virtues of good readability, robustness and precision, they also bear the trademark Nautische Instrumente Mühle-Glashütte. Today, the company, now in its 6th generation, is managed by Thilo Mühle.

The festivities will be accompanied by the Edition 1994 series. Each limited to 155 pieces in a tribute to the company’s 155-year history as an entrepreneur in Glashütte, it consists of selected signature timepieces that will be unveiled throughout 2024.

The 29er Big Bronze Edition 1994 in a bronze case measuring 44.2mm in diameter and pressure-resistant up to 10 bar is the first of the commemorative series. The three-hand sports watch is driven by the self-winding Sellita SW 200-1 caliber, equipped with an in-house built rotor and Mühle’s woodpecker neck fine adjustment, and regulated to chronometer standard. Several details reference the anniversary on the dial in the Saxon brand’ signature blue: a red 30 in the date window, the red second’s hand and the red 30 on the minute track.

The 29er Big Bronze Edition 1994 will be delivered with a resilient textile strap and retail for approximately $2,500 when converted to USD.
