Dior Announces Pre-Fall 2024 Show at Brooklyn Museum in April

Dior is set to present its Pre-Fall collection at the Brooklyn Museum in New York on April 15. The collection, which includes over 100 looks, is intended as a celebration of the unique connection between Dior’s native Paris and New York City as two capital cities of fashion.

Uniting both cultures and centers of style is actress and longtime friend of Christian Dior, Marlene Dietrich, whom Maria Grazia Chiuri drew inspiration from as she created the line, drawing from the boyish, effortlessly charismatic elements of the actress’ eclectic style. In this collection, structured blazers are paired with wide-leg pants and pencil skirts, as an homage to Dietrich’s scandal-provoking style and visionary spirit.

The collection, consisting of a wide range of fabrics, textures, and moments in fashion history, recalls tweed, crushed velvet, and silky crepe and revitalizes them with Dior’s contemporary silhouettes and styles. According to Dior, the collection represents “a range of possibilities that celebrates the meeting of cultures” and “a conversation about freedom that gives shape and substance to whatever each woman chooses to be.”

In past years, Dior has traveled the world to show its collections, including the most recent Pre-Fall collection, which was presented at the Gateway of India in Mumbai, where guests watched models walk the runway, clad in styles that showcased Chiuri’s appreciation for Indian fashion and craft traditions, with the Taj Mahal in the background.

Below, explore several looks from Dior’s Pre-Fall collectionrife with vintage-inspired designs, recalling light, airy crepe dresses of the ’40s and Dietrich-esque structured masculine suits alikeahead of the April runway show in Brooklyn
