Luxury hotel weekend stay at the edition hotel abu dhabi

Finding life a little crazy busy these days? Us too. With so much going on and nowhere near enough sleep plus zero chance to catch up with the other half let alone spend any time just chilling, I decided to prioritise self-care and book a staycation at The Edition Abu Dhabi – a super stylish hotel overlooking the capital’s Al Bateen Marina. And it was awesome.

Everything abut The Edition is classy in a perfectly understated way.
The five-story atrium is architecturally beautiful, sophisticated and calm, complete with luxurious furnishings, gorgeous green foliage and statement pieces including a very cool suspended kinetic art installation. This hotel is stunning from every angle.

And the rooms are about as peaceful as you can get with features including oak wood parquet flooring, neutral tones and desert dune photography by Brett Weston plus the most comfortable bed complete with perfectly plump pillows (the kind that only exist in fabulous hotels).
Ours had a pretty view over the marina that disappeared behind heavy blackout drapes to guarantee the best night’s sleep. The bathroom featured a huge tub (hooray) and a rain shower in which to lather up with full-sized Le Labo products.

We spent the day lounging at the hotel pool catching up on podcasts, reading and lunching in the sun – bliss, before I headed to the Rossano Ferretti Hair Spa for a ‘vita’ hair treatment and blowdry in preparation for date night. A haven for all things hair, you can book in for everything from balayage to up-do’s and the ‘invisible cut’ for which Ferretti is known. The next door Edition Spa offers rituals and therapies if it’s a little pampering you’re after  (we didn’t indulge this time but will definitely be back – the Edition House Massage promises up to 90 minutes of total relaxation).

When it’s time for a bite to eat, you don’t have to go far to get one of the best dining experiences we’ve had in the UAE. The Edition’s ‘Oak Room’ is a mix of old-school and cool – think oak-panelled surroundings, plush velvet seating, the most flatteringly dim lighting and black and white photographs of some of rock ‘n’ rolls greatest all of which instantly give you chic-night-out-in-London vibes. And the food is A-MA-ZING! We started with cocktails and oysters before moving onto steaks and sides as recommended by a meat sommelier (of course). There are plenty of fish and veggie options too if steak isn’t your thing.

And on the subject of food, we need to give a special mention to breakfast which is an all-day affair (yes that’s right, no jumping out of bed and stressing to make it – a massive deal for me because a hotel breakfast is my absolute favourite thing). The Market restaurant offers an open-kitchen/bistro vibe and an all-you-want-to-eat (which was everything) brought to your table. The coffee was excellent, the avocado on toast sublime – and all breads and pastries still warm from the oven.

24 hours later and we felt like we’d had an actual break from it all. The luxury of a gorgeous hotel bed, a bit of pampering, time to chat and chill and eat breakfast at lunchtime worked wonders. We’ll definitely be back for a 2ndedition.
