Marking the Brand's 20th Anniversary, Tory Burch’s New Collection Turns a Corner

Last night at the New York Public Library, Tory Burch’s newest Fall/Winter 2024 collection marked the beginning of a new era for the brand. As the American fashion house celebrated its 20th anniversary, the pieces graced last night’s runway and dared to experiment with complex textile choices and bold silhouettes. While maintaining the structural aesthetic of a Tory Burch dress, the opening look experimented with wired detailing. Look 5 in particular employed a daring red to an alluring skin-tight ensemble which isn’t something that’s often seen in the designer’s collections.

Throughout the show, lampshade silhouettes, à la the opening look, were displayed, and smart well-cut blazer and trouser combos also took to the runway which keeps in theme with the American sophistication Burch is known for. Other glossy nylon and vinyl finishes were seen in the collection and an interesting display of illustrious tinsel coats was marched down of several smocked looks that took center stage toward the closing of the show which brought forth a light and feminine feel to the collection. Accessories-wise, the signature pierced pump, 3D printed purses, and totes accompanied several trench-coated looks. “Our signature accessories evolve with the Pierced pump, a 3D printed minaudière, and a new shopper tote,” said Burch. “We were thinking about making the everyday sublime: an old jacket, a lampshade, even a shower cap.”

The sharp lines and raw cuts showcased in the collection were in keeping with Burch’s intention to approach the designs as she would handbag construction. This comes as no surprise as the designer is renowned for her handbags.

The show ended with a white tinsel midi dress paired with statement white fruit-shaped earrings worn by supermodel Irina Shayk.
