Blackpink’s Lisa to Make Acting Debut in ‘The White Lotus’ Season 3

K-pop idol, fashion icon, CEO, and now actress? Blackpink’s Lisa has just been confirmed as a cast member of HBO’s Emmy-winning hit series The White Lotus, in Season 3. The White Lotus, which first came out with its first season in 2021, is a social satire series that combines elements of absurdism and dark comedy. The series, created and directed by Mike White, stars Jennifer Coolidge, Jon Gries, Haley Lu Richardson, and Aubrey Plaza in previous seasons, and tells the stories of the guests and employees of the fictional White Lotus resort chain.

For her first-ever acting role, the star, best known for her powerful dance moves and as the face of French luxury fashion house Celine, will be credited under her given name Lalisa Manobal for the third season of the show. The upcoming season is set to take place at a new White Lotus resort property in Thailand, where Lisa was born and raised. The shoot for the third season of The White Lotus will reportedly begin in February in and around Koh Samui, Phuket, and Bangkok, Thailand.

Lisa isn’t the first member of Blackpink to embark on her acting journey. She follows in the footsteps of Jisoo, who snagged her first leading role in a K-drama in 2021 with Snowdrop opposite Jung Hae-in, and Jennie, who played a supporting role in HBO’s The Idol last year along with Lily-Rose Depp, Abel Tesfaye (aka The Weeknd) and Troye Sivan. Jisoo, who was the first member of the group to venture into acting, will also be taking on a role in the upcoming Korean webtoon-turned-film Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint, with Lee Min-ho and Ahn Hyo-seop.

Just last week, Lisa announced the establishment of LLOUD, her new artist management agency. LLOUD currently oversees Lisa’s individual activities, after it was announced last year that the Thai performer would be leaving YG Entertainment for her solo promotions, remaining with the company only for group activities. Blackpink’s other members, Rosé, Jisoo and Jennie, have all parted ways with YG for their individual contracts as well.

As both a member of Blackpink and a soloist, Lisa has been a top-performing star for years now. Last year, the girls of Blackpink went on their global Born Pink World Tour, taking major cities around the world by storm with their mega hits like “Shut Down” and “How You Like That.” More recently, Lisa, who turns 27 this year, also gave fans an unforgettable performance of her solo tracks “Money” and “Lalisa” at the Gala des Pièces Jaunes charity event in France, just two weeks ago.
