Orion Carloto's Night at the Tommy Club

Notable for her eponymously named YouTube channel and her stunning amalgamated work of poetry, short stories, and photography titled Film for Her, Georgia native Orion Carloto is set to be this generation’s up-and-coming creative.

With many titles attached to her, including writer, influencer, and poet, it’s no wonder she was chosen to kick off NYFW at the Tommy Hilfiger show. Her magnetic personality, coupled with an undeniable Southern charm, makes her all the more noteworthy. Now a proper New Yorker, Carloto is an integrated part of New York City’s fashion world. Her Americana style (though, with her own couquette-ish spin), elegance, and literary talents have her slated to be NYC’s next It girl. Below, Carloto shares her thoughts on Tommy Hilfiger, New York City restaurants, her must-have beauty items, and more.

L’OFFICIEL: You’re kicking off NYFW at the Tommy Hilfiger show. What are you most excited about?

Orion Carloto: It’s my first Tommy show! There’s so much leading up to this moment!

L’O: How does Tommy Hilfiger fit into your personal style?

OC: I grew up in the American South (your classic God fearing and devout all-American Girl), so I feel a comfortable familiarity when wearing Tommy Hilfiger. Classic Americana runs deep throughout the veins of his work, so wearing Tommy feels innate, like a one-way ticket back home. Predictably and charmingly inherent!

L’O: Who’s the most interesting person you’ve met during a fashion week?

OC: Sofia Coppola at Chanel Haute Couture. Enough said.

L’O: What’s the coolest fashion week party you’ve ever attended?

OC: Any Purple Magazine party ever. Oliver Zahm knows how to fill a room with fascinating characters.

L’O: Do you have any go-to spots when you’re in NYC? Or something you’re looking to do/see for the first time while you’re here?

OC: There is a brief moment to breathe between the madness, so I’m filling that time by going to the Donald Judd Loft.

L’O: What are your fashion week essentials?

OC: A film camera, compact mirror, powdered blotting tissues, more tights than I think I will need (they’ll all rip), mascara, my Sleep Crown pillow, Altoids, at least one moment throughout my day to be horizontal, and hope.

L’O: If your phone died in the middle of fashion week, what would you do?

OC: Surrender to the night.

L’O: What’s a beauty product in your bag that you can’t live without?

OC: Hexomédine. It’s an antiseptic that lives in your first-aid cabinet to treat open wounds (only available in French pharmacies) but is famously known to heal pimples overnight. You wouldn’t believe how fast I can break out during Fashion Week.

L’O: What’s a fashion trend that you regret trying?

OC: Athleisure wear out of the gym and into the wild. Why did we do that?
